Re: scheduling
At least we know Intelligence won’t be going head to head with ONCE as it makes no sense to put a show like that on at 8 on Sundays. I just hope it doesn’t go up against a heavy hitter. I can see it maybe being on Thursday? Following TBBT if they want a nice lead in. I’m excited for it though. Josh Holloway has been off my TV for far too long
Agreed re: Josh! Right now my tv schedule looks all nice and pretty but I’m waiting with baited breath for CBS / CW to release theirs. As per Thursdays that’s usually when Person of Interest airs I believe (Michael Emerson’s show – another Lostie like Josh Holloway) so I’d kinda like those two shows to be in a block of some kind. Maybe have it air after PoI so the people who are there for PoI / Michael Emerson will stick around when they see Sawyer coming up next right after having seen Ben. Seems like Lostie-goes-CBS synergy. *Fingers crossed*
I just don’t want any of it to conflict with what I already have on my list which…sadly it will. I have 4 shows on Mondays at 10 right now, two of which I haven’t caught up with in a long time because of it. Hoping the fall is a bit more spread out. Bummed that Revenge is still right after Once though. Have to record it so I can hang out with the podcast!
Will be sad to see Meghan go from Once but she sounds like she’ll be a key player in Intellilgence which will be awesome. Still trying to wrap my head around Sawyer & Ruby but looking forward to seeing what they do with the new characters! It’s been on my list of shows to add since it went to pilot. *Fingers crossed*

I love her and I loved Red but I honestly don’t know what more they could have done with her story. She got the big reveal of being the wolf, but Child of the Moon was very flat for me and it was clear that they can’t tell much more about Ruby. But I look forward to Intelligence!
Had they not gone through with trying to make her a regular, I think episode 207 would have been much better off continuing from where “Lady of The Lake” left off. You still could have had George take a major presence in the Storybrooke side of the episode, but the flashback could have been Snow and Charming fighting against him and taking back the kingdom. That would have been much more satisfying and would have been better suited for the plot. Meanwhile, George in Storybrooke would have tried getting his revenge in a much more interesting way than framing Ruby for a murder.
Then again, they had to adress whether or not Ruby would be changing into a wolf in a magicful Storybrooke, it was one of those nagging questions after season 1’s finale.
May 14, 2013 at 7:22 pm #194330HappyEndingsSpectatorWhat a bummer she would have been a good asset to hunt down Henry in NL this Season was too much filler and not enough on charcters that add to the show love the wolf/person idea. 👿
Even the BF left no wonder she wasn’t around to help with the diamond in the mine episode 😆 Now we will probably not get her back story either.
The people I like seem to leave the people I don’t really care about stay.

It was to be expected, that for the time being, for the next season Meghan Ory as Red will be no regular anymore. But hopefully her new series will leave her the time to drop by. Guest star once a year, could live with that.
Now for Red/Ruby. She is one of my favorite characters (hard to tell), and I wish they would have done more with her. For the sake of this brilliant idea to make Red her own wolf, and for the sake of Meghan Ory.
Different from others here I saw some story potential, still see. After all she tragically killed her first love, and that is great material for character driven drama. We got a glimpse of how she dealt with it in Child of the Moon, but there could be more. Imagine her getting interested again in someone, all the angst coming back if she would be able to control herself when emotions might run high. The angst how that person will see her as a werewolf. Memories coming back. Make it someone with family, who fears the werewolf. Make the someone a person seen with some doubts by Granny and her surrogate family aka Snow, Charming, Emma… Red/Ruby as the first to find her true love in Storybrooke, or maybe even in our world.
Then there is the friendship with Belle. And now taking care of things in Storybrooke while the everybody so far in charge is away. King George resurfacing conspiring with Keith/Sheriff of Nottingham against Ruby, Granny and Belle, combined with a flashback to Red’s role in overthrowing George.
I know the upcoming graphic novel they’re publishing will include Red and Graham and maybe some interaction between them. Some had speculated that their paths crossed in FTL. Would have love to see that on screen. But it’s something.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

Relationship wise, there was potential for her to start dating Dr, Whale, AKA “Frankenwolf.” I would have been interested in seeing that develop more. Same goes for her friendship with Belle.
May 14, 2013 at 9:18 pm #194365kfchimeraParticipantI’m glad Meghan found another show. I grew to really like her character, but I have to agree she doesn’t fit into the NL arc too easily. They could have made some room for her though if they had really wanted to keep her in the mix, just as we HOPE they are doing with Belle.
The biggest thing I take out of her interview is this: A&E kind of got a new idea, and started flipping things around to play with that. It tells me that though there may be a vague idea of the end of the story in their minds, certainly the start, that not every detail has been completely meticulously planned. They did want Hook in S1–but it sounds like much of this NL story is something they started to come up with after S2 started. She mentions they “brought the girls back early”. Perhaps that’s why Cora’s arc felt kind of short–maybe it was truncated. They wanted time to build up to NL in the finale and play out this new idea of PP flipped on its head.Maybe they can still give us some snippets of dialog from Belle, Whale or Granny at some point that reference her having interacted with them offscreen, until she can manage to guest star in something.
At least A&E let Megan know in time to get cast in another show, one that I think I’ll try to watch too.

May 15, 2013 at 2:35 am #194468briParticipantFeel bad she had to ask to see if she needed to look for work, but I hope her new show does well.
May 15, 2013 at 3:03 am #194478timespacerParticipantI’m sorry to see her go too. I thought the character’s relationships with Belle and with Dr. Whale both had a lot of potential. I do hope she can come back for a guest role in one episode because one thing they never addressed after “Child of the Moon” was a conversation between Red and Granny after Red learned that Granny had lied to her about her mother. They could have nicely paralleled Emma’s lie to Henry about his father.
May 15, 2013 at 3:27 am #194483TrixieParticipantThis is really too bad!
Given how Ruby and Ghorm have had to look for alternate work, I certainly hope that the series as a whole won’t suffer from A&E’s creative directions. These characters will need to be quasi-regularly present to sustain the whole image of SB/FTL… I hoped to see more of them :(…
May 15, 2013 at 4:47 am #194507PheeParticipantmyril, I agree with your post, there was definitely potential for more Red storyline. What bums me out about her role being reduced more than anyone else’s is that Red is Snow’s family, for all intents and purposes, they’re sisters. So it’s really sad to see her just fade away. *sigh* Also would have loved for them to develop Frankenwolf.
Ah well, I’m glad for Meghan that she’s been able to snag the new show, and hope it does really well for her. And if she had to find work elsewhere, at least she’s still working in the same town, so hopefully they can work out the scheduling to get Red to pop back into SB at some point.

With a medium like a TV show, I guess you’ve gotta be able to be flexible so you can cater towards what’s working and what’s not and change things up along the way. They’ve said that they know how the story will end, and I’m sure they have major plots in mind that they want to accomplish before the end, but when you’re making a TV show, you simply can’t have all of your ideas set in stone the whole way through.
