Nevertheless I found it interesting, how harsh reactions were particular towards this barely developed character. If there is any character on the show I have the impression of actually being hated by a significant number of people it is Milah – and I don’t use the word hate in connection with person/character loosely, it’s not just dislike or not understanding her motives and thinking in her case, and it’s not about any shipping wars.
Largely because of who she is connected to. If she was just a mother who abandoned her son, we’d frown but not get in a dither. But no. She left sad face Peasant! Rumple and little Baelfire, and since they are both so integral to the show as a whole, we “hated” her. And to make it worse, Milah appeared after we S1 in which we saw how Rumple will also let his son go, and so now it’s easy to “blame” Milah saying “well she did it first and Rumple had to protect his little boy so he became the DO…” and you know the rest.

There’s probably a very small minority that did feel sorry for Milah or could relate to her, but over all, I’ve seen very few people (here and on tumblr) who do.
February 26, 2014 at 10:55 am #248034RumplesGirlKeymasterThe only “sympathy” I have for Milah is her ending. No one “deserves” to be murdered and Rumple acted in a fit of passion and he should be held accountable for that. Now, do I understand *why* he did it? Sure. Do I condone it? No.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 26, 2014 at 11:05 am #248040obisgirlParticipantThat’s how I feel too.
Having your heart ripped from your body and crushed like that. It’s not even speaking metaphorically. There was a season 7 episode Buffy, where that was a wish and the entire house of frat boys died. It was really dark.
February 26, 2014 at 12:33 pm #248107Marty McFlyParticipantNo, she was horrible, but she didn’t need to be killed. Abd Gold was held accountable to that many times. He felt terribly guilty for having killed her. He couldn’t even bring himself to tell Belle, and he could tell her anything… Hook stabbed him in manhattan, Gold didn’t even try to fight back. He looked at Hook in the eye and was probably thinking “this is how I deserve to die. I killed Milah” so, I think he was already held accountable for that, although I doubt he feels any less guilty for having lost his temper and killed her. (i am sure he did love her so it must really hurt)
February 26, 2014 at 6:35 pm #248243Marty McFlyParticipantStill. It’s not the fact that she left her husband without even leaving a note. It’s not even that she left her SON, and it’s not even that she left her family believing that she was going to be abused by everyone on board the ship while her family is powerless to stop it.
If she fell out of love with Rumple, that’s perfectly understandable. Some people might even understand that she left her son because she was somoserable. Stuff like that happen.
No. the thing that turns everyone against her is that she never looks back. She was with Hook a good ten years before he came for the bean. Where was she all this time?
lets say she really couldnt show her face in that village. Lets say she really was too cowardly to be known as the village tramp. Now she has a chance to find out about her son. Her husband is righthere in front of her. He is even mentoning her son, ASK HIM ask him, was he drafted to the Ogre wars? Is he still alive? ASK.
BUT she didn’t. And thats what makes everyone angry at her.
And I still think SHE influenced Hook to become a buly.February 27, 2014 at 1:00 pm #248438once_dudeParticipantyes I hate Milah. no she is not necessarily the worst villain on once upon a time but she did hurt rumple. Rumple did not hurt her he jus tmurdered her lol.
I dislike Milah because she never asks Rumple two questions: 1. why did you leave the ogre wars yocoward?
2. so mr. dark one whats happening with baelfire how is he doing?
if she had shown the slightest sympathy at all i would have liked her. i did not even see her and killian as true love despite what he says. i think it was just passio the same as i equate with rumple and cora.
to conclude nobody deserves to have their heart ripped out not even milah but she is a beast just as much as rumple is.
Magic always comes with a price, so I pay with visa.
February 27, 2014 at 4:15 pm #248469PriceofMagicParticipantI don’t think Milah is the “villain” behind Hook. She ran off with him because she wanted adventure and not have responsibilities.
Milah is disliked by most people because the first time we see her, she is being mean to peasant Rumple, and everybody loves Rumple, so immediately the audience is being set up to dislike Milah.

I don’t hate her for being mean to Rumpel.. she doesn’t HAVE to stay in love with someone I hated her because she didn’t CARE about her child. and because I think she instigated Hook to be bully because SHE was such a bully herself.
.
and Once_dude, she didn’t have to ask why he left the Ogre wars, he TOLD her. because she was pregnant. “all for the boy” he said -
