*Interesting how Rumple used a good thought to help Emma conjure up her magic (protecting her family) but used an angry thought to help Cora do something magical with the straw (anger at those who were mean to her). Fascinating scenes and I loved them airing back to back. That was definitely no accident and it gives me hope that Emma will stay on the good side of things with her magic.
*I LOVED that it was Rumple who gave MM the way to save all of them (he’s always got an agenda) but what an ethical dilemma for her. Can you kill the evil dictator to save everyone else? That idea of taking a life, good or evil, is such a powerful decision in this type of context.
*Cora’s backstory is pretty fascinating but it doesn’t make like her any more.
*Emma is all kinds of badass. LOVE HER.
*I’m shocked but yet not shocked by MM actually using the candle. You can only take so much before you hit a breaking point. Fascinating character development for her and what will this now do to her family?
*Interesting where Cora learned her theory that love is weakness (from the king).
*Rumple and Belle’s entire phone conversation and the fact that Emma & Neal were right there to hear what he said to her. *tears*
*MM is freaking brilliant when she has her mind set to something. I loved those scenes with Regina for how powerful they were but dang, I honestly didn’t think MM had that kind of manipulation in her!
*OMG, that Rumple-Nealfire scene…..that was phenomenal and again with Emma being present for it. *more tears* 😥
*Interesting what actually caused Cora to remove her own heart from her body.
*Eerie how much young Cora and the older Cora have similar mannerisms even though we learned about older Cora first. Great casting again!
*I hated her with a passion but it was sad when Cora died in Regina’s arms right after Regina realized that Cora did actually love her. 🙁Least Favorite:
*Rumple & Cora’s ‘romance’. They give me the heebie jeebies! 😕
*That’s all I have! This episode was AMAZING and even the stuff I wasn’t as fond of was still awesome. Talk about a game changing episode!

–Forgive the die hard Rumbeller but, that phone call broke my heart even though I’d seen it already. In context, it made it so much more powerful. The most selfless moment of his life. That’s true love. That right there. Not that weirdness with Cora, but that phone call with Belle was true love.
–Emma using magic. That was SIMPLY AMAZING
–Bae and Rumple. My heart just broke.
–Snow and Regina in the vault. WOW. Snow was sneaky and it was unexpected.Least Favorite
–The Cora and Rumple nonsense that we’re all going to be debating about. Did she really love him? Was she playing him? I think she was playing him to get him to change the deal."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 11, 2013 at 1:45 am #178835antbeeParticipant@RumplesGirl wrote:

Not to say that Josh Dallas is a slouch, but I think they weren’t utilizing her that well this season until now because there’s so much there for them to mine between Regina and Snow. I’m also satisfied that we got to see this dark and cunning side of Snow because I think that Regina has really underestimated the Charmings. Of course, the writing doesn’t help at times making them sometimes the idiots that Regina referred to them as, but Regina learned one of the evil villain rules the hard way tonight, to never underestimate her enemies.
I really can’t say that I feel bad for Regina at all, even though, it seems terrible of me. While I’m happy that it appears she might be going back to her Evil Queen ways for good or at least for awhile because I prefer that over the Regina in the first half of the season, and that she wasn’t actually playing Cora. I know that was a popular theory, but it didn’t work for me because she sent Anton after David, and she did nothing to stop Cora from hurting Johanna. So I’m glad that the writers didn’t have her actually being a double agent.

–The Cora and Rumple nonsense that we’re all going to be debating about. Did she really love him? Was she playing him? I think she was playing him to get him to change the deal.I think she cared for him maybe even thought that she loved him, but it wasn’t a deep love since she was willing to throw it all away for power. Even though, there was definitely lust between them, I don’t think that Rumbelle shippers like us have anything to be concerned about. She cared/shallowly loved him, and I think he loved her, but it was definitely not true love like what Belle and Rumple have. It could have turned into that, but again Cora just didn’t love Rumple enough to let it become that. It’s ironic though because I think she would have had more power had she gone with Rumple. I don’t think the relationship would have worked out though because I think she would have gone more power mad a lot sooner had she ran off with Rumple.
Along the same lines I’m just over the moon that the writers put an end to the theory of Regina being Rumple’s daughter. It’s like they specifically wanted to point it out to the audience that Regina was in fact not Rumple’s child. Thank god for that.

Amen. We never have to talk about this again. We can just walk way from that theory.
As to your thoughts on Cora loving Rumple, I said a lot over in the “True Love” thread of Miller’s Daughter, but I think the fact that she walked away from him and ripped her out means that she never loved him. It was lust for his power, but she felt that the power of being Queen was far more important and alluring.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 11, 2013 at 1:56 am #178843dub1026ParticipantI wished they would not have given Cora that last redeeming line of “this would have been enough”, because now I feel pretty bad.
everything else was excellent! Brava!
March 11, 2013 at 2:57 am #178860swanning-offParticipantAMAZEBALLS episode! Loved it.
Favourite points:
1) “This would have been enough. You would have been enough” – Cora realising, with her heart back in, that she didn’t need to do all of her scheming, killing and manipulating. The “mere” love of her daughter was fulfilling enough. Epic feels.
2) The Rumbelle scene was so wonderful, but what was more beautiful was Nealfire’s “I’m still angry with you” and then the hand holding. I actually audibly said “awwwww!!!” EPIC FEELZ RIGHT THERE.
3) Learning the origin of the “love is weakness” logic of Cora, not from Rumple but the King she hated most. Interesting. Also interesting that she claims she never loved anyone as much as Rumple. I don’t think she did love Rumple – no twuu wuv reversing of the Dark One as with Belle’s kiss. But she did love power. And she *couldn’t* love after she ripped her own heart out. It’s all about the spin you put on it, isn’t it Cora???
4) loved Snow’s manipulation of Regina. Brilliant tactic. ALSO loved that she regretted it immediately and tried to stop it, but was too late. Regina, naturally, will see this as further evidence of Snow’s evilness and not her own family’s f**ked up way of dealing with things. Regina never sees the consequences of her or her mother’s actions, but sees Snow’s consequences all too clearly.
5) I am SO freakin’ glad that the is-Rumple-Regina’s-father theory can be finally put to bed. Not happening at all. Wonderful manipulation of the contract by Cora – from the start, she wanted Rumple’s powers, not Rumple himself.Least favourites…. pretty minor but:
1) I assume we’re going to see more of the Cora/Eva feud? Because that can’t just be it, surely.
2) Why the smaller boat from the Jolly Roger? Hook never needed that. Or is it just that Peter Pan/Nealfire isn’t as good at “parking” as the Captain is?
3) Emma calling her father “David”. I dunno, I just think in moments of extreme emotion it would be more powerful for her to finally start calling her mother and father Mum and Dad. But I acknowledge that she met them as Mary Margaret and David – she doesn’t even call her mother Snow like the rest of town does.March 11, 2013 at 3:24 am #178868SlurpeezParticipantFavorite scene: Rumple on his deathbed on the phone with Belle and then Bae making peace with his papa. Talk about opening the dam for the waterworks. 😥
Least-favorite scene: Cora and Rumple kiss. Just, no."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 11, 2013 at 3:34 am #178872elleParticipantThis was a strong episode–not a favorite of mine, but strong. 🙂
I honestly didn’t really care for the Cora flashbacks that much. They were obviosuly trying to put in some last minute sympathy for her in the episode and it wasn’t bad. I just didn’t care for it that much. Plus, redeeming every single villain on the show is starting to get old. Cora may not have technically been redeemed, but it just feels as though they suddenly tried to make her out to be so nice. With that said, Barbara Hershey was great in that moment when her heart was given to her–seriously, I actually felt Cora’s happiness. And Rose MsGowen as a young Cora was a great choice.
As for Regina, I didn’t feel that much sympathy for her. I do feel bad that she had to watch her mother die, but seeing as how she was about to kill everyone else in the room…well, I just don’t really care that much.
Ginnifer Goodwin was awesome in this episode. She was finally given some good material and she did wonderful with it. I felt for Snow White in every single moment, and (this might offend some) but I agree with her decision. It wasn’t the best one to do, but she was backed into a corner–Cora was a threat and they could have all been killed. I consider what she did to be self-defense.
We only got a small rumbelle moment, but it was touching and very beautiful. 😀 Along with Baelfire crying and hugging his father.
I actually cringed with the Cora and Rumpelstiltskin scenes. It was obviously not True Love–if it was, his curse would have started breaking. But it also seemed….weird. I don’t see why Cora fell in love with him. She seemed more in lust of him–he was powerful and attractive. But it wasn’t liek Belle and Rumpelstiltskin or Snow White and Prince Charming and the other couples on this show. They were all genuine. I think Rumpelstiltskin wanted desperatly to be in love and wanted someone to love him–his wife left him, hie let his son go, and he had no one else.
There’s not much else that I really liked. Emma was awesome, but I would’ve liked some more of her. The episode was great and powerful, but not a favorite, and I don’t think there was much of a shock to it. I knew Cora would die and I knew Snow White would have a hand in it. The part where she tricked Regina was a bit of a surprise, but not entirely unexpected, I think.
