I actually cringed with the Cora and Rumpelstiltskin scenes. It was obviously not True Love–if it was, his curse would have started breaking. But it also seemed….weird. I don’t see why Cora fell in love with him. She seemed more in lust of him–he was powerful and attractive. But it wasn’t liek Belle and Rumpelstiltskin or Snow White and Prince Charming and the other couples on this show. They were all genuine. I think Rumpelstiltskin wanted desperatly to be in love and wanted someone to love him–his wife left him, hie let his son go, and he had no one else.
THIS. I may quote you over at the true love thread because I appear to be losing the battle on if Cora and Rumple were really in love and I need some other people who agree with me. 😀

There’s just so many favorite moments I loved how Emma was starting like using her magic, the Rumbelle speech I saw it so many times was just so much then they put the Baelfire confession right on top of it! Then Snow playing Regina cold! Finally with her heart back Cora realizes what she had. I wish Emma would have called David dad once but jeez I don’t know how much more emotion they could have packed into this episode! The Evil Queen is back in full effect after Snow wow I can’t believe Snow used the knowledge that everyone knows about her against Regina just like it was used against her with Joanna!.
BTW Bae looks like he knows his way around a sword I’m sticking with the fact that he’s Pan!
March 11, 2013 at 4:12 am #178884lunatigerParticipantI LOVED the episode from start to finish! I don’t think there was a least favorite moment for me. Every scene was fantastic.
And please forgive me Rumbelle fans (I am one too), but I thought Rumple and Cora’s affair was pretty darn hot. LOL Probably more because of just Rumple then of him being with Cora. Honestly why can’t the good guys have steamy scenes like that???
But I love the contrast of Rumple’s relationship with Belle and Cora. You can definitely see the difference of love and lust. Which is why Rumple and Belle’s relationship endures because they put the other first before themselves which Rumple demonstrated for the first time over the phone.
If I had to pick my FAV scenes were:
-Belle and Rumple’s phone conversation
-Rumple and Bae’s breakthrough and start to reconciliation
-Cora leaving Rumple heartbroken
-Rumple instructing Emma on Magic is Emotion
-MM holding the candle over Cora’s heart (gave me chills when she whispered Cora’s name!)Least Favorite:
Mah I like them all.March 11, 2013 at 4:27 am #178887bellaroseParticipantFavorite moments
Regina figuring out that Snow had manipulated her into killing her Mother, Regina’s angry face was amazing and Rumplestiltskin standing over them saying ‘I did nothing’… that scene was awesomeI loved Belle and Rumple’s phone call
Cora saying that she did love Rumple and that’s why she ripped her heart out
Bae and Rumple’s moment
Cora being smart enough to read the contract and then say no I’m going to make a souple of changes to this, after figuring out that he wanted somthing from her
There wasn’t much I didn’t like really, it was a really goog episode
Good always wins < That's just what Rumplestiltskin wants you to think Keeper of Belle's Theme Music, The Queen of Hearts Maze, Cora's Missing Heart,Tiny's Golden Harp

Fav:
– Surprising, because I wasn’t expecting it, but the father and son moment. Rumple extends his hand towards his son, and Bae grabs it. Kind of like a reversal of the whole green portal fiasco, as someone pointed out. I teared up.Least fav:
– Nealfire and Henry on the ship. Why? Because it was too darn short. It was barely a scene and I really wished there had been more to it, so I was disappointed. But it was hands-down my favourite episode of the season. It was just so packed with Snow’s character development (and the twist with her manipulative side), the Rumple and Cora backstory, the tension between Neal and Emma, the Rumple and Belle conversation, and the Regina and happy!Cora moment…but at the same time it was well-paced and gave us a lot of quieter, emotional scenes. LOVED IT.

1. Emma using her magic 😀
2. Cora and technology 😆 😆 😆
3. Cora and Rumple in Enchanted Forest, I don’t care what anyone says, those scene with the spinning wheel and Cora in the wedding dress scene where HOTT!!! 😉
4. Phone call between Rumple and Belle 😥
5. Scene with Rumple and Bae 😥
6. OMG!!! the tiny moment where Cora got her heart back and looked at Regina and loved her if only for a second 😥 😥 😥Least Favorite:
1. When Rumple suggested to Snow the bright idea of using the candle. 😯
2. Snow tricking Regina with the promise of her mothers love and having Regina kill Cora instead. Cora had it coming but man that was cold. 👿
3. Rumplestiltskin deflecting all responsibility of Cora ‘s death on to Snow. Bastard why do I love you so much 😡Basically that is it, I loved the episode. I felt so sad for Regina, I completely got lost in tears during that moment, but if it wasn’t her it would have been Rumplestiltskin and he is my second favorite character of the show. So if someone had to die glad it wasn’t him. Well now we know how the Evil Queen will return, damn it Snow. 🙄

1. I found Cora’s death poetic. The three people she’s hurt in her life all had a hand in it, especially Regina and Snow. Two women she has done absolutely terrible things to. And yet, it was sad that for just a brief moment she was human again….right before she died.
2. Speaking as a male viewer, this episode reminded me of how GORGEOUS Rose McGowan is. She had an amazing presence on screen in every scene.
3. There’s a certain irony to Gold living due to his family, and Cora dying due to hers
4. I’ve always viewed Rumpel as a sort of evil father figure to Regina, so the things we learned about him this episode seemed fitting, even if he isn’t technically her father.
5. I thought it was ironic that corrupt Regina managed to avoid Gold’s manipulations when he tried to get her to kill whoever came through the portal, but pure hearted snow gives in to them this episode. Nice role reversal there. We’ve seen Gold and Henry compare Emma to Regina in recent episodes, and tonight we saw that in Snow as well. Cold, calculating, and manipulative, she became her worst enemy tonight and will have to live with the consequences of that.
6. Bailfire was quite comfortable with that sword, all the more reason to believe the Peter Pan theories.
7. It’s sad, there was a moment where Snow got through to Regina and convinced her to do something GOOD, indicating that maybe there was still a way to save Regina from the dark path she was on.
8. Boy, is Belle gonna be mad when sees Gold walking around and decides that he lied to her in that phone call. In the state she’s in right now, she might think this crazy guy was trying to manipulate her.Least Favorite – These are just minor little nitpicks
1. We’ve seen Cora kill people or turn them into animals. How convenient for our heroes that she only chose to fling them around or teleport them to another location. It’s that TV trope of villains never taking the opportunity to simply kill the good guys when they can.
2. For all the bad stuff she’s done in previous episodes, I still feel for Regina. She’s in so many ways, just a lost little girl who simply never learned HOW to be a good person. She’s had so many beliefs instilled in her mind throughout her life convincing her that evil is the correct path, and she’s gone through life being alone as a result. Deep down inside Regina wants to connect with people, but all the garbage that’s been put into her head by people like Rumpel and Cora have made that seemingly impossible. It doesn’t help that every time she’s around Mr. Gold he continues to feed her negative beliefs just as he always has. She’s so convinced of the futility of good that her mind seems unable to see any evidence to the contrary. Regina is not inherently evil, she’s just a very damaged, somewhat brainwashed person. Kitsis and Horowitz have said before that a theme of the show is that people aren’t born evil.
3. I don’t like shows announcing deaths, not only because it somewhat spoils the surprise, but because it removes suspense and tension from episodes where they DON’T announce them. For example, we know the Regina/Snow confrontation next week isn’t going to result in either one of them dying, because the preview would have said, “And next week, another member of Storybrook WILL DIE!”. I’ve seen some memorable character deaths in other shows that were not broadcast ahead of time, making them truly shocking. I would then watch further episodes with tension because I never knew when someone else could kick the bucket.I don’t agree with a previous comment about the Cora flashbacks trying to elicit sympathy. I think it was just about filling in her back story for fans of the show and showing us how she became who she is. She embodied the sin of pride and that led to her downfall. I realized with this episode that one word sums up Cora’s entire character – PRIDE. As for whether or not she loved Rumpel, I think she BELIEVES that she did, much like how she has always believed that she loves Regina. We know now that she NEVER loved Regina, because she didn’t have a heart to love anyone with. I do think there was definitely a strong attraction between her and Rumpel over their shared hate and anger and an appreciation they both had for power. They’re both people who have been treated poorly by others due to their low station in life and bonded over that. I think they could have developed real love over time, but the king’s words set Cora on a different path.
March 11, 2013 at 6:10 am #178911swanning-offParticipantJust remembered another bit I loved. The slight awkwardness between Emma and Nealfire after his attempts at discussing his fiance, broken by Daddy Charming’s “is everything alright here?” with a meaningful glance at his daughter. So cute.
And it reminded me of this:
March 11, 2013 at 7:52 am #178919PheeParticipantDon’t think anyone’s mentioned this yet, but I liked how Henry told Emma that she could beat the bad guys. He may be pissed at her, but he still has faith in her.

*Interesting how Rumple used a good thought to help Emma conjure up her magic (protecting her family) but used an angry thought to help Cora do something magical with the straw (anger at those who were mean to her). Fascinating scenes and I loved them airing back to back. That matching pair of scenes was perfect. I also liked that it gave us insight into how Rumple spun his gold, by holding onto that festering hate in his soul. Interesting how he told Belle that he spins to forget, and now we see that it’s quite the opposite. Also, I think that seeing him instruct Emma to use love instead of hate shows that he’s learning. He didn’t tell her, “Think about how much you hate those b!tches you wanna keep out,” instead it was, “Think how much you wanna protect those you love.” He’s totally learning. *patting Rumple on the back*
*I’m shocked but yet not shocked by MM actually using the candle. You can only take so much before you hit a breaking point. Fascinating character development for her and what will this now do to her family?
I’d figured Cora was gonna suffer death by candle, but had no idea how the candle would pop up again in SB. Rumple pointing her directly to it was very cool, and so typically him.
*Rumple and Belle’s entire phone conversation and the fact that Emma & Neal were right there to hear what he said to her. *tears*
Even though I’d watched that scene a bunch of times since the sneak peek came out, it still got to me. It was written and acted so perfectly! FEELS!
*MM is freaking brilliant when she has her mind set to something. I loved those scenes with Regina for how powerful they were but dang, I honestly didn’t think MM had that kind of manipulation in her!
My eyes were bugging out when she was manipulating Regina like that. Excellent solution to the dilemma of how to get Cora’s heart back in her, but dayum, Snow! I loved that she was trying to act as Snow-tastic as she possibly could, always believing in the good in Regina, but underneath it all was that dark motive. Just, wow!
Least Favorite:
*Rumple & Cora’s ‘romance’. They give me the heebie jeebies! 😕No lie, I actually had my hands in front of my face, peeking through my fingers. All their smoochy scenes made my skin crawl, and it’s not because I love Rumbelle, it’s just that Corumple were weird and creepy.

–The Cora and Rumple nonsense that we’re all going to be debating about. Did she really love him? Was she playing him? I think she was playing him to get him to change the deal.I started out typing this post, thinking that she’d thought she loved him, but she didn’t really understand what love was, so it wasn’t true, which is why her kiss had no affect on his curse. But a comment I made at the end of the post has made me change my mind, and I think she was just playing him to get out of having to give up her baby.
BTW, I love how they dismantled and re-assembled the classic version of this story. K&H are brilliant!

I really can’t say that I feel bad for Regina at all, even though, it seems terrible of me.
I feel bad for her as far as it sucks that she’s been so manipulated in this situation, and it was her mother, someone she loved, who screwed her up in such a magnificent way. But I’ve never been a true Regina sympathiser, and doubt I ever will be, because she’s at a point in her life now where she should have been able to get some perspective and turn things around for the better.

AMAZEBALLS episode! Loved it.
Favourite points:
1) “This would have been enough. You would have been enough” – Cora realising, with her heart back in, that she didn’t need to do all of her scheming, killing and manipulating. The “mere” love of her daughter was fulfilling enough. Epic feels.I’m glad Cora and Regina had that one moment. Barbara Hershey’s genuine smile when she got her heart back was tragic.
4) loved Snow’s manipulation of Regina. Brilliant tactic. ALSO loved that she regretted it immediately and tried to stop it, but was too late. Regina, naturally, will see this as further evidence of Snow’s evilness and not her own family’s f**ked up way of dealing with things. Regina never sees the consequences of her or her mother’s actions, but sees Snow’s consequences all too clearly.
Yes, I liked that they had Snow running in, hoping to stop it. I think both acts, the dooming of Cora, and the attempt to save her, were played very believably. Of course Snow will do what must be done to save her family, in particular her innocent little grandson. I don’t blame her at all for using that candle. But they really needed to show her regretting the decision too, so I’m glad they went there.
3) Emma calling her father “David”. I dunno, I just think in moments of extreme emotion it would be more powerful for her to finally start calling her mother and father Mum and Dad. But I acknowledge that she met them as Mary Margaret and David – she doesn’t even call her mother Snow like the rest of town does.
This stuck out to me too. I almost said out loud, “David? Really? He’s your dad FFS!” In such an emotional situation, it seemed like a “dad” was in order.

I honestly didn’t really care for the Cora flashbacks that much. They were obviosuly trying to put in some last minute sympathy for her in the episode and it wasn’t bad. I just didn’t care for it that much. Plus, redeeming every single villain on the show is starting to get old. Cora may not have technically been redeemed, but it just feels as though they suddenly tried to make her out to be so nice.
I didn’t get “nice” from her at all. I felt a little bit of sympathy for her at the very start, seeing that she was basically running the mill on her own, having to deal with a drunk father, and being humiliated. But the way she went about getting herself out of the situation, and her whole motivation for it, didn’t make me sympathetic towards her cause.

OMG it’s totally the opposite of when he let go of his hand, and that scene just made me wanna reach into the screen and hug them both! I also liked that Emma overheard, “I’ve spent a lifetime looking for you, to tell you I love you,” and you could tell that that hit home because she spent two years in Tallahassee and has likely been searching for him everywhere since then too. Another thing I loved about that scene was MRJ’s delivery of “I’m still angry,” he sounded like a hurt child, and it was perfect.

1. I found Cora’s death poetic. The three people she’s hurt in her life all had a hand in it, especially Regina and Snow.Yes, I loved that. In the end, Cora got her wish, she did make Snow’s heart go to a dark place, and she even used that candle she’d given her. And in achieving that goal, Cora doomed herself. Evil doesn’t pay, kids!
3. There’s a certain irony to Gold living due to his family, and Cora dying due to hers
In the scene at the ball, when Cora had that line to the King about how disgusting it was to sell off your own flesh and blood, that was so sad, knowing how she was gonna abuse her daughter. Though now that I’m thinking of it, that same mentality could be why she manipulated Rumple into changing the deal, so that she’d never had to give up her flesh and blood. So she kept the child, but ended up destroying her. Twisted and sad.
7. It’s sad, there was a moment where Snow got through to Regina and convinced her to do something GOOD, indicating that maybe there was still a way to save Regina from the dark path she was on.
Just another thing that added to the overall theme of tragedy in this ep. Regina fell for the plan, because there was still some good in her, and giving in to that desire to do good, led to the death of her mother.
8. Boy, is Belle gonna be mad when sees Gold walking around and decides that he lied to her in that phone call. In the state she’s in right now, she might think this crazy guy was trying to manipulate her.
Oh I hadn’t thought of that! That will be sad, though understandable, if she reacts like that.
March 11, 2013 at 8:14 am #178921KebParticipantYeah, I’m wondering too what Belle will think of the solution that saved Rumple’s life (once her memory returns)…on the one hand, she probably will be glad he’s still there because she loves him, but on the other hand, someone had to die for him to live. He’ll probably hold off telling her as long as he can.
Though, his promise that Cora was someone she’d never meet apparently came true.
