Wetpaint: Ginnifer Goodwin Talks Season Two
Your show doesn’t mess around — tying up the big storyline in the first season. Were you surprised?
Oh, shocked! I was sure, as I was told when I signed on, that the crux of the show was this unbreakable curse. And I am delighted — the word delighted does not even begin to sum up how ecstatic I am that we’re going to explore new territory next year, because it will be a whole new show now that we remember our parallel lives.Do you think that will eliminate the need for flashbacks, which is a huge part of the show?
I asked that as well, but there are still so many pieces of the puzzle that we need, and we’ll add more, so we’ll absolutely continue the flashbacks because we’ll keep providing the audience with more clues. We need to fill in some blanks and we’re going to create some new conundrums that will need filling in.And Snow and Charming — they’re now reunited. Is it too early to say they’ll live happily ever after with the smoke coming?
I mean I hope we are together! Because I feel that Snow and Charming are meant to be together, and I am assuming that this season — and I am hoping — they are a united force and it’s all about them developing a relationship with their daughter. You’ve mentioned that Emma (Jennifer Morrison) may have some resentment about being abandoned.
I would imagine given what I think we’ll discover she went through as a child in the foster system, that even if it’s unfair in some ways, even if it was a better scenario (than staying in Fairy Tale Land under the curse) I would imagine there is some kind of resentment, and on the part of the parents there would be some kind of guilt. That’s awkward if they live together.
And they’re the same age! That’s going to be real interesting!I overheard you want to shoot in Hawaii?
On Big Love they’d always ask me, “Where do you want Margene to go?” and I understood that they meant in life or emotionally, but I always said, “Hawaii.” Those creators never bit, so hopefully on this one we can make that happen.Once Upon a Time Season 2 premieres on ABC this fall.

ONCE UPON A TIME, Ep. 201
Director: Dean White
Writers: Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz
Shoots: July 13 – 27
Location: Vancouver[ANASTASIA] Female, early to mid 20s. Born into a life of wealth and privilege, Anastasia was raised every bit the polished princess. But beneath the shiny veneer of a spoiled young girl beats the heart of a woman willing to sacrifice everything for love. Recurring Guest Star.
[MAGNOLIA] Female, Asian. Early to mid 20s. A warrior first and foremost, she could hold her own against a swordsman or even a king. She is trained in weaponry, tracking and riding, but has a spirituality that enhances her tactical and strategic abilities. Like the flower she’s named for, Magnolia is beautiful and may, to the uninformed, seem delicate; her roots, however, go deep—she has an intuitive connection to the land and to the creatures who inhabit it. She can “hear” the breathing of the earth or “see” a camouflaged animal. She is well-versed in the philosophies of her people and is able to see the larger picture. She has suffered past betrayals, so her trust is hard-won, but once she gives her oath of friendship her loyalty knows no boundaries. Similarly, when she falls in love, she falls hard—Magnolia’s armor protects a fierce heart. Recurring Guest Star.

Magnolia, as the rumor mill goes, could be a mix of Mulan and Pocahontas. ^^
Anyway, it does sound interesting and I’m looking forward to see their stories.June 18, 2012 at 5:16 pm #148879PriceofMagicParticipant@slurpeez108 wrote:

Anastasia sounds like she could be Ariel or Jasmine though I would say Ariel.
Magnolia definitely sounds like she could be either Pocahontas, Mulan or possibly Jasmine. So far of the Disney princesses they have in the show, they have Snow White, Belle and Cinderella. The two they haven’t added yet are Ariel and Jasmine along with Sleeping Beauty though she has been mentioned. Jasmine is also the name of a flower.

Trish: Got any Once Upon a Time scoop?
It’s such a long summer without magic Once Upon a Time. But if you are anxious for some season-two scoop, then you’re in luck! The producers are hard at work writing and casting some cool new princesses for next fall. (see more below cut, beware of spoilers)Anastasia could be mistaken for a spoiled rich girl, but as we all know love rules in Fairy-Tale Land. Plus, they are looking for someone to play Magnolia, a cool badass Asian chick who is an accomplished fighter and rider and might be a little bit magical. Dear ABC, we would like season two now, please. Sincerely, Team WWK.Thomas: What’s next for Regina on Once Upon a Time?! I love to hate her.
If it’s up to her lovely real-life alter ego, Lana Parrilla, there will be flashbacks to Regina in Storybrooke pre-Emma Swan, specifically so viewers can learn more about Regina and Henry’s complicated dynamic. “I’d like to see the history of that relationship; how she got Henry and I’m wondering if there will be flashbacks in Storybrooke next season,” shetells us. “I’m anxious to find out and at the same time I’m patient because every script has always been so great. The anticipation solely comes from a place of me being a fan of the show as well and I want to know what is going to happen, but as the Evil Queen/Regina, I can wait.”"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. June 19, 2012 at 3:12 pm #148905SlurpeezParticipantOn Once Upon a Time 1, Jennifer Morrison’s Emma fell in love. With her son.
But following 22 episodes that featured a major focus of this ABC hit on Emma and Henry, the actress tells Entertainment Weekly that Season 2 will “explore the idea of allowing romantic love” to blossom in the character’s life. With whom? Well…
“[The Huntsman] was in the season finale so they’ve established in fairytale land you can still flashback to him existing there, even though he’s not alive in reality,” Morrison says. “I don’t know what this means now that we’re bringing magic…
“We don’t know what that means for Pinocchio. Is he still going to be wood or is he going to come back to life? We don’t know if that means the Huntsman can be brought back to life. We don’t know what the rules are going to be now because everything has changed.”

June 19, 2012 at 4:35 pm #148910PheeParticipantThanks for all the links!
Can’t wait for more info on these new princesses! Magnolia does sound like a combo of Mulan and Pocahontas, but I’d hope they’d not combine the two, because they really both deserve to be there in their own right. Could it be possible that they’re actually auditioning for two separate roles with that one casting call? I noticed a comment on the imdb board for this info that Mulan actually means Magnolia, so it’s pretty obvious that’s who the character will end up being. Would make sense for that character to be included in the first ep if they’re gonna kick it off with the battle to take back the kingdom.
Also saw someone say this about Anastasia:
“Polished princess” and “shiny veneer” look like clues to a daughter of King Midas. Seeing that Anastasia Griffith, Once Upon A Time’s “Abigail/Kathryn Nolan,” has filmed a new series for BBC America (Copper) in which she has a major role, could this be a cryptic casting notice for a role that would be another daughter of King Midas – or someone to replace Anastasia Griffith in Once Upon A Time and become a new Anastasia on the set?
Interesting theory.
The official list of Disney Princesses is Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana and Rapunzel.
The description for Anastasia comes closest to fitting Jasmine, I guess, (assuming that the character will be from this shortlist, though of course it could be someone entirely different), but then, they’re not asking for someone with that particular nationality. Hmmm, time will tell, I suppose.

From SpoilerTV:
For episode 2.03 of Once Upon a Time, an African American knight with a British accent is being cast. He’s a sword for hire who lost his true love (Of course he did – who hasn’t on this show?) and was banished from his kingdom.http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/07/once-upon-time-episode-203-knight-being.html

July 10, 2012 at 12:48 am #150199hjbauParticipantWhat story does everyone think that is? A sword for higher that lost his true love and was banished from his kingdom?
I sort of think Robin Hood, but i am not sure that quite fits. Thoughts?
July 10, 2012 at 8:50 am #150376PheeParticipantThat made me LOL, coz when they were talking about a former Lost-ie joining the cast the other day, my guess was Malcolm David Kelley as Prince Phillip. And the Lost-ie casting news turned out to not be anything definite, and it was about Jorge Garcia, so I was totally wrong, but now there’s gonna be an African American knight anyway, so I wasn’t completely off the mark. 😉
