I really want Bae to just be Bae and not another character. It is like with Emma. I want her to just be Snow and Charming’s daughter and that be it and i want the same with Bae i want him to just be Rumpel’s son and that’s it. I mean that is interesting in and of itself. That is actually one thing that attracted me to this show that we were going to see after the stories we know and see the known characters have families. And that doesn’t mean that Bae can’t also be Henry’s father because that would then just be the next generation. That is probably the only thing i like about Bae being Henry’s father, that we get to see a third generation out from the known fairytale characters, even though i hate that it makes Rumpel related to Henry. I mean it is interested that Regina is the child of the miller’s daughter from the Rumpelstiltskin story. That is really interesting.
And really this description Jack as a “guest role with option,” in his 20s or 30s, charismatic, sexy and mysterious, but also loyal and kind, and he’s running from his past in a land full of danger.
This doesn’t sound like Bae to me. Why would Bae be on the run from his past. I mean he is in a separate world from his past and i don’t think that he would consider our world a world full of dangers. I guess i just think that description sounds like a little bit of character description and then the character’s fairytale land description and Bae can’t be in fairytale land unless they show more of him before he fell through the vortex. And from the title card where we see a beanstalk that makes me think there is actually going to be a beanstalk and a magic bean that creates it. We will see.
[adrotate group="5"]Besides, remember what the BF said about the magic beans. The one she gave Bae was the last one, the others were stolen. She never said by whom, but at the time I had supposed it to be Jack. He could’ve stolen them, used one to get to the giant etc. and another one to get to our world. Both worlds are dangerous if you don’t know your way around.
^To be honest, the whole “the last magic bean” ploy was probably just a plot device to get Rumpel to create the curse. If there had been more magic beans, then Rumpel would have never created the curse, and there wouldn’t be a show. There had to be only one magic bean left in order to push the story forward. Shows do this all the time. It’s the same reason why there was only one enchanted tree left in the enchanted forest. If there had more, then most of the residents of Fairytale land would have been spared of the effects of the curse. Thus destorying the entire premise of the story.
And I also don’t think the writers would attribute a well-known fairytale object to a character and then forget about it. Usually, when the writers give us clues, they mean something. I don’t think the writers would give Bae the magic bean, only to come back and say, “yeah but we only did that to introduce a less important character later on.” 😆

I can’t remember what the Blue Fairy said, wasn’t it something about ‘losing the other beans”? I did, at the time, think this was an early hint to a future Jack character stealing the beans, but now I’m wondering if magic beans are just another lost resource in the Enchanted Forest…

True, it would seem kind of redundant to introduce a second character who used a magic bean, now that we’ve already seen someone do it, especially considering it was a boy who used it as a means to transport himself between two places, in both the original fairytale and the Once version. Beans are a significant item from ONE famous fairytale, if people hear “magic beans”, they instantly think “Jack and the Beanstalk”. So if they didn’t want there to be an association, they could have easily come up with some other way for Bae to have opened up a vortex to another world.
