If he has Belle’s memories he should have the good stuff too, which I find problematic. Rumple has done a lot of bad in recent seasons, no doubt. But belle has also witnessed his heroism, his sacrifices, his grief after losing Bae and the lengths he went to find Bae again. There are nuances in Rumple that young fetus is neglecting.

Oh abolsutely he is. He clearly has an opinion on this. Again, he’s supposed to be a child and this is Belle’s dream so isn’t she the one thinking about him and that’s what he looks like in HER mind? So is that also what she would think her son’s opinion would be about Rumple? Basically is this all just in Belle’s mind or was that ACTUALLY their son with actual opinions and motives? If that is actually their son, like in body and soul and not just her interpretation via her dream world, then the child must have some Seer capabilities.

I just re watched that scene and I came to the same conclusion. I thought this must be Belle’s interpretation of everything and she has dreamed up this son who thinks that Rumple will destroy this family like he did the last one. So, that would make this scene all about Belle’s insecurities and fears of the future. Here is the problem with that, how did she get TLK then? If this is all Belle’s dream and the son is a manifestation of that dream he should not been able to wake her up because he is not real. The whole scene is very problematic and full of holes.

Yup exactly. It works until he kisses her to wake her up. So since that happens, he must be her ACTUAL SON. But then, why is he older. I get why he’s in her dream….bc he’s a part of her so ok, fine. But why is he older?

And how does he know that he will destroy this family like he did the last? Why is he so resentful of this father? The only logical conclusion would be that he is actually Morpheus but Belle states that he was disguising himself as him to “test” her. It just does not make any sense.

Morpheus clearly says that when Rumple used the sands on Belle, that it was used on him too, and that it was also his dream world. That really was their son, and the TLK waking up Belle was proof.
I think the reason why the writers didn’t want Rumple to administer TLK to wake up Belle was because a successful TLK would mean Rumple losing his Dark One powers, which they clearly don’t want happening anytime soon.

Even though it’s the TV drama convention for the audience to believe what characters say, I’d take dream dialogue with a grain of salt.
Going beyond “it was just a dream”, though, I’d like to think that Morfetus was a manifestation of Rumpel’s good side.

Knowing the mechanics of this show, when Rumple makes a declaration full of pathos, the show will quickly prove him wrong. So, when he says “My love for Belle is real, and this child is real” or something to that effect, we should probably assume that both are wrong. So my guess is that (a) his love for Belle won’t be considered real until he sacrifices himself in some way and (b) either
– Fetus posing as Morpheus isn’t really Rumple’s child (but a figment of one of their imagination)
– Morpheus is the next big (or small) bad posing as fetus posing as Morpheus
– Fetus is actually Morpheus posing as fetus, and hence has control over kicking someone out of the dreamworld while pretending it’s TLK
– Fetus isn’t really Rumple’s child (the father is someone else)
Edited to add: Also, when your toddler unreasonably throws a fit about wanting the other parent to go away, or tries to pin one parent against the other it is good parenting to remind them that we say nice things to each other, and that parents are a team. Because the next thing you know, they’ll be pulling the cat’s tail and pushing little Johnny into the sand while stealing their bucket.
Parenting fail, Belle. Parenting fail.

…this one?
I don’t know. I find all this to be confusing when I think about it too much.
