Wasn’t it absolutely adorable when Emma referred to MM as her family and MM looked so doe-eyed? I’m a huge fan of the mother-daughter scenes between them. Emma seems to be having some intuitive insights into her relationship with MM. I can’t wait to see how that develops through the rest of the season.

Yes, Emma carried out the theme well, by saying to MM you don’t turn your back on family,… I mean friends… you know what I mean.
I loved that moment!! That entire scene was just great. Also, what Emma said to Jefferson “If you’re right, then that woman in the other room is my mother. I really want to believe that.”, I believe she truly meant the last part. I do think she really wants to believe but her realistic view of things is keeping her from doing so.

yup! it would really be hard to have a mother that looks younger than you!
Loved both of those scenes! Was so sweet when Emma let the word “family” slip out. It must really be tripping her out that she’s maybe starting to believe that Mary could actually be her mother.
I almost expected them to share a warm hug
Maybe that could have brought awakening to MM and made her realize that she is SW ❓
I think it’s so cool that right now Emma just thinks that she is finally allowing herself to let people “in” and have some friends, and so she thinks of those people as her family – not realizing that they they really ARE her family. But deep down there is some kind of emotional bond there that must be understood because she IS awfully protective of MM. And I think it’s always very sweet how MM looks very motherly toward Emma – like she was having an emotional break through moment when she acknowledged that she had friends. But it makes me laugh when I think of Emma and David. I get the feeling their moments together are more like a pre-teen girl with her father – kind of like when you are embarrassed by things he does and when you want to be dropped off at the corner so no one knows he’s your dad – since he always seems to say and do the wrong thing. Poor David.

ROFL I was always trying to figure out what exactly those moments felt like and you nailed it! That’s exactly what it feels like. I do hope for them, that they’ll share a “better” father-daughter-moment in the near future …
