Mr. Gold, the Book and the Plan
This is my theorie
Mr Gold/Rumple lost Bae shortly after he became the Dark one. This we saw in season one.. We also heard him tell the Blue Fairy that he would do whatever it take to find him.
So knowing what we do, Rumple has been working towards that goal ever since. I think he is the one who created the Story Book. It starts to make since that in-order to bring Emma to Storybrook he needed Henry to go get Emma. Henry was not born in Storybrook so was the only one who could leave. So he must have been the one who sold the book to MM/Snow so she could in turn give the book to Henry. Rumples plan was too set in motion all the dominoes that needed to line up in order to break the Dark Curse so he could now go out of town himself to find Bae. Rumple said he could see the future, maybe he said that because he was the one who was creating it. What better way to know the future when you are the one who is making it happen. The plan was masterful, he was able to put everything he needed into play so just like in his shop, everything that was needed would be right where he could access them.
So lets see if this was all his plan. What I know from season 1.
1 Heard him tell the Blue Fairy that he would do whatever it take to find Bae.
2 Possibly was the true person who spooked Snows hours so she would meet Rigina.
3 Waited until he could find a couple with true love.
4 Made a true love potion so he could make the Dark Curse.
5 Helped Charming find Snow.
6 Gave the Dark Curse to the Queen
7 Informed Queen that she had to kill her most precious thing, (he got her too use curse so he didn’t get his hands dirty)
8 Designed the Curse so he would have everything he needed when he came to our world. All of this to finally find Bae. 😀

Still rather interesting that true love potion is required to create the Darkest Curse.

Yea, but what a great bonus. 😀

He’s had centuries and centuries to plan all of this. And he’s been the one pushing the overall plot. He’s the genisis of the entire story. So, it’s definitely possible that Rumpel could have planned everything. And if not everything, then most of it. 😉 Even the accomplishments of the heroes ended up benefitting Rumpel.

If you watch the scene in The Price of Gold, he seems to know she is trying to capture him using magic. I think somehow being in the prison preserved some of his memories as the curse was enacted. Not sure how, but I think it blocked some of the memory wiping properties of the curse.

Yeah, he didn’t seem the least bit concerned about getting caught. But then again, he probably knew that the curse was well on its way and that it didn’t matter what happeend to him. He’ll become a completely different person once the curse takes a effect anyway, so why worry?

Good point. I don’t think Rumple cared about the memory because he wrote the curse he could have tailored in anything he wanted. And as far as being in Prison, he needed to be there too I am not sure why yet but like I said he planed out every detail or at least most of it. I do love Rumple. 🙂

Yes, The most powerful magic curse could only be made by the most powerful force in all the lands. 🙂
