Wow, I just noticed that I’m sporting a Regina banner. 😆 😆 😆 I feel really weird now.
I still love her though. 😀
Me too!!! 😆 😆 😆 Maybe we should change the subject. This conversation is making me hate a character that I actually love. 😯

I love Rumple – he is my favorite character – and I am one of his biggest supporters in agreeing that that I think he was a well intentioned person who unwillingly becamed cursed because he didn’t truely understand what he was getting himself into when he tried to save Bae from the Ogre Wars. I don’t believe he realized he was killing a human when he stabbed Zoso and was horrified when he realized he had. I think he did think he was being tricked by Belle and, although his behavior was not acceptable, I think it was understandable given his situation and his emotional state. BUT – I am guessing that OUaT is going to be an extremely successful show which will hopefully mean many happy seasons for all of us fans. That also means that there is no way they can have Rumple be strictly a “misunderstood but lovable” evil guy throughout the entire series – at some point they are going to have to drop a bomb on all of us Rumple fans, but I still think that when all is said and done he will end up redeeming himself in the end. Because if not, it will have been a horrendous waste of really great suits and perfectly good leather pants.

I agree that Rumpel’s character will suffer through a lot of moral and ethical ups and downs, but that’s why I love him so much. I’d rather wait to cast judgement on what kind of character he is until the show’s final days. He’s too complex to try to pin down. We still don’t know what happened between him and Bae. We don’t know what happened between him and his first wife. And we still don’t know why he created the Dark Curse. There are a lot of theories out there that say Rumpel gave Regina the wrong ingrediants (I love this theory to death! 😆 ) And with the introduction of the True Love potion, there’s a strong possibility that the curse wasn’t meant for evil at all. Robert Carlyle even suggested that Rumpel made the curse for reasons that aren’t necessarily evil.
So, we’ll have to wait and see.

You can see her move through all of the different “elements” of evilness in both Regina and the EQ in just the way she holds her face. I don’t know whether to think it’s cute or to be slightly disturbed that my 10 year old son seems to be in love with her!! 😕

I think us Rumpel fans just tend to get a little too defensive of our favorite character sometimes. 😆 But hey, that’s what happens when you have a horde of fangirls chasing you down the street. 😆

Lana is BREATHTAKING!!! I love her so much. That’s why I put her in my sig. Well, that and because she’s drop-dead gorgeous. I’m shallow like that. 😆

April 8, 2012 at 2:00 am #141284hjbauParticipantWell i didn’t say anything justified Regina or Rumpel’s behavior, i just feel sorry for Regina’s bad childhood, and, in my opinion, from what we saw of Rumpel before he became the dark one he was already not a good man, so until we actually see what led to him being like that then i don’t really feel sorry for Rumpel. I feel sorry for Bae, but not Rumpel so much.
And i feel sorry for Regina only because of her childhood and not because of what Snow did to her. Regina’s mother was insane. That doesn’t justify what Regina became, but it at least explains it somewhat. They need to go further back in Rumpel’s life or at least have Rumpel talk about it instead of going forward.
April 8, 2012 at 2:49 am #141289an empty heartParticipantI’m perplexed as to why you view pre-Dark One Rumpel as bad? What did he do that was so terrible? Deserting a ruthless, and by all accounts, useless war does not count as “bad” in my book. Rumpel was probably recruited as a young child, much like how Bae was. So, being a child in a bloody war would have been unbelievably torturous for him. So, the fact that he ran away doesn’t really mean that he’s bad. A coward? Maybe. But “bad?” Definitely not.

You’ve actually said this a few times. Can you please elaborate on why you think pre-Dark One Rumpel was evil? Because I just don’t see it.
