The part where Bae was sucked into the vortex was pretty heart wrenching.

Yeah, that scene really tugged on my heart strings. 😥 I know I keep harping on this, but I would love for Baelfire to have been sent to another land. Neverland and Oz would be ideal places for him. I could totally see him as Peter Pan. But then there’s that whole Jack and the Beanstalk thing that was introduced in last night’s episode. ME CONFUSED!!! 😕

Wow everyone here has made such good points :ugeek: So did anyone else besides me nearly start sobbing when Mr. Gold gave that heart felt speech and the most sweetest, teary eyed, hug to who he thought was his son? 🙁 And I just about lost it when Rumpel was screaming Bae’s name after he fell into our world.
I loved his speech too. I was very happy to see Mr. Gold own up to some of his evil deeds. Too bad it was for nothing. 😥
And the way Mr. Gold held August in his arms and cried…TOO. SAD. 😥 😥 😥

I loved that scene too. When Mr. Gold held August in his arms and called him his “beautiful boy,” I DIED!!! 😥 😥 😥 Guys, he called him his beautiful boy. This show is going to kill me.

I’m glad we finaly learned why Rumpel created the curse. I was glad to hear that he made it so that he could find his son. I hope his efforts weren’t all in vain. I want Mr. Gold to be reunited with his son.

Sadly, that’s always a possibility. But I think Baelfire is in our world, and I’m seriously beginning to think that he may also be Henry’s father.

It certainly throws even more new (and tragic) light on why he is compelled to make them – it’s as if he’s trying to make up for breaking that one deal by making them with everyone else, but of course that doesn’t fix anything because he’s lost the one person he needs to connect with.
April 24, 2012 at 11:02 am #143651killianhookfanParticipantI love that he “broke” in his counseling session with Archie. I have to say that I am surprised that they had him be as detailed as he was with him – I thought he was going to be more cryptic with him to the point that Archie wasn’t going to be exactly sure what he was talking about.
So although Archie can’t reveal to anyone what they talked about, I do think it is interesting that someone in SB knows about a side to Gold that no one else even knows exists. I wonder if that will somehow be helpful in the future. This was an interesting twist to things. It allows Gold to maintain his reputation but also allows someone to see his vulnerable side.
I don’t find it coincidental that the person who knows more of Gold’s “real” personality is also the person who would be the one who would most likely be dealing with Belle if she is ever found. I now wonder if Gold will be continuing his sessions with Archie or if that was just a one time thing.

One of the last things both Belle and Baelfire said to Rumpel was “You’re a coward” before they disappeared and Rumpel never saw them again. Rumpel swore to the blue fairy that he would “love nothing else” until he got Baelfire back yet clearly he loved Belle and he lost her for the same reason he lost Baelfire- he chose his power over being loved.
It makes me wonder whether Rumpel’s happy ending is only going to occur when he stops being a coward and chooses to sacrifice his power for his loved ones.I completely agree with this and am actually amazed that his cowardice doesn’t come up more often in discussions about his character. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love this character but he is a coward. That has consistently been his downfall. It was a theme in all three Rumplelcentric episodes and I think it’s what he needs to conquer for redemption.
It scares me a little because to be redeemed for all he’s done I think we are talking self sacrifice as a final brave act, however since he is also the “Beast” and in that story the beast was dying when Beauty kissed him and broke his curse – there is still potential for a happy ending.
