Found these on tumblr. It kind of explains Rumple’s anger at Milah.

I think the main reason he was so angry at her was that she left bae and didn’t even ASK how he was where he was she was totally indifferent just like pan.
The first thing Rumpel asked when he saw hook was about Milah. But Milah sees Rumpel, makes deals with him, wonders why he wants a magic bean, but ne er once asked abkut Bae. Not once. There he is, trying to get a magic bean to a land without magic, and she isn’t even interested how Bae is faring???January 6, 2014 at 2:14 pm #235544PriceofMagicParticipant2 is that Milah has responsibilities (to Bae) but is spending her time down the pub like Malcolm did to Rumple.
6 is that Rumple needs the magic bean and it’s being withheld from him by someone else

January 6, 2014 at 11:05 pm #235636Marty McFlyParticipantAm I the only one who wonders how Milah and Rumple ended up together?? They seem to me to be an oddly paired couple. Considering that so far we have Rumple’s early story about how he was abandoned by his father which sounds like it left him pretty scarred and it doesn’t appear that Rumple’s new life after Malcom led to a life of much more than poverty. Milah seemed to be much more worldly and adventurous than Rumple even before Hook showed up and before Rumple clubbed himself. It seemed like Milah had given up some kind of very different life to marry Rumple.
I have heard many people talk about how Milah loved Rumple until Hook stole her. I’m not slamming Milah – I’m kind of also in the camp of people who are just kind of “meh” about her – but I have always had the feeling that she NEVER loved Rumple and I have NO IDEA how they ever met or why they even got married. I have the impression she thought she was going to have a different kind of life with Rumple than she ended up with. So I always kind of felt like she loved Bae but felt like she was never supposed to have married Rumple and wasn’t really a good mother so it was easy for her to choose to leave with Hook. But then when she found someone who she felt she was better suited with she realized she made a mistake abandoning her child – kind of like Hook brought out he best in Milah.
I stole this post from the CS thread, but I think it belongs here more.
this is something I always wondered about.
If Rumpelstiltskin could spin so well, why was he not richer? and if his father’s dishonesty was overshadowing him and he was losing customers, why didn’t he want to move when Milah said let’s move? I really hope the writers will clear this up.February 8, 2014 at 11:19 am #243798SlurpeezParticipantI never fully appreciated how much MRJ and Robert Carlyle look alike until I saw this amalgamated image. Whoa, the casting department nailed it again.

They fall into the very unfortunate category of being very time consuming and labor intensive, while still bringing in very little money. (I suspect this is because traditionally, it would be expected that most homemakers would be able to do rudimentary sewing tasks, so you wouldn’t spend money to get someone else to do your tailoring unless you really had to or were very wealthy.) Someone with more historical knowledge than myself should feel free to correct me.
It is true that the spinners Rumple was raised by noticed a great talent within him, and said “he could spin for kings” (haha, I just now realized how clever that line is – in regards to Cora), which would have made him- if not wealthy, then comfortable, at least. However, I think that would have required dedication on his part, if not for actually training to spin, then at least time spent seeking out connections that would allow him to work for the wealthy. Based on the flashback episode of Rumple and Mila’s married life- I think we can assume that he didn’t do this. This is all just sort of… retro-speculation, as I’m sure the set dressers etc at the time weren’t thinking about Peter Pan/the Spinners/etc etc when that episode was shot (even if whispers of this revelation were on the breeze) but looking back at that episode, we see Rumple and Mila living a comfortable life. They have their own home, and it’s cozy. They’re looking toward a bright future. Then Rumplestiltskin comes in with his summons for the war.
He’s ecstatic! Not because of any monetary gains, but because it will give him a chance to distance himself from the reputation of his father, and everything that came with it. At that point, he’s ready to forget the past and throw himself entirely into this new life. That makes me think that he has probably spent some time pursuing this path, and hasn’t been focusing on spinning lately. He doesn’t want to be the boy raised by spinners any more, he wants to be a brave man and a good father and has likely been crafting that self for some time. It’s probably that self (or imagine of a self) that Mila married, perhaps not realizing what it was tied to.
After the war, it was his own reputation that followed him. “He is a coward… just like a father”. There wasn’t anywhere he could move to escape that- and it was at that point in his life that we really see Rumple and Bae in extreme poverty.

So Whats going on with our favorite Little Imp, where is he at now:
Just a couple of questions to get the talking going-
Rumple’s last act of the third season was to kill the, in his mind, his sons murderer. Why did he do this? what did he take with him from that experience did he go backwards in his road to redemption? Should Belle forgive him for lying to her or give him the boot when she finds out?
What should be Rumple’s next step, now that he doesnt have the motivation of finding his son. What should he be looking for now?
He has the daggar in his own hands now, so he holds his own fate, so to speak. Is Rumple really the best person for his own good to hold the daggar? or should we hope for Belle to snatch it from him or something?
……………………………………………………………………..
I think Belle should really leave Rumple when she finds out he lyid. He needs a good kick in the butt from someone he loves to send him in the right direction. He still does Things mostly for himself and because he is afraid to let go of his control. The relationship of Rumple and Belle is not an ecual one as long as he keeps Things from her.
Thats all I have right now I will maybe come back with more thoughts later.
June 10, 2014 at 10:03 am #273109RumplesGirlKeymasterOver in the Rumbelle thread, a few of us have discussed quite heavily what Belle should do next. There are some pretty strong opinions, lol. @PriceofMagic believes they should work through it together, for example. Whereas I and @Obisgirl agree with you: Belle needs to leave. Now, I’m not saying forever, but until Rumple learns that there are consequences to his deeds (that all magic comes with a price) he’ll never stay away from magic or dark magic.
Your questions
Rumple’s last act of the third season was to kill the, in his mind, his sons murderer. Why did he do this? what did he take with him from that experience did he go backwards in his road to redemption? Should Belle forgive him for lying to her or give him the boot when she finds out?
I do understand why Rumple sought Zelena out to kill her. It wasn’t just Neal’s murder but it was also the year of abuse and torture and pain inflicted upon him. The question for me wasn’t “does Rumple have a right to be angry enough to commit murder” but “can he follow the path of the better angels and rise above his dark tendencies.” What angers me is that at the end of S3A, the answer the latter. He sacrificed his own life for the lives of his son and his true love and he died a hero, not a villain, taking his wicked papa with him. So this moment in S3B where he kills Zelena is like a giant step backwards for me. And maybe a giant step backwards and off a cliff. It’s natural that a parent wants to defend their child; we have reports all the time of a parent killing the person who murdered their child…or, if they go by the law, asking for the death penalty (here in America, I know the system works differently in your neck of the woods, Grimm). It angers me that instead of having Rumple mourn his son (he hasn’t even gone to his grave yet!), they had him seek out revenge when Rumple DARN WELL KNOWS that it’s the last thing Neal would have wanted. Neal believed his papa could be a better man, and Rumple just disappointed him again.
What should be Rumple’s next step, now that he doesnt have the motivation of finding his son. What should he be looking for now?
Good question. It was a 300 years quest and now it’s over and it didn’t end the way he anticipated. I think Rumple will try to throw himself into his new marriage with Belle. Rumple doesn’t face his pain and his mistakes, he runs. He is going to have to confront the pain of loosing his son and at the same time, the lies he told to Belle. He can’t just hide behind his dagger and his power anymore.
I want him to give up the Dark One’s powers. It’s time. Beyond time. I want S4 to be Rumple’s true redemption. On this show, the can magic handwave anything into existence. so they can find a way to get rid of the powers without Rumple dying. Maybe a real TLK.
He has the daggar in his own hands now, so he holds his own fate, so to speak. Is Rumple really the best person for his own good to hold the daggar? or should we hope for Belle to snatch it from him or something?
I think it would be a nice gesture to give Belle the real dagger but we’ve crossed that bridge already. When he first gave it to her, it was a nice moment. It was a promise…that he then broke. But I don’t support someone else having the dagger because that’s essentially servitude..the could use it against him at any time. and that also endangers the lives of everyone. I think the best course of action at this point is to find a way to get rid of the dagger for good.
