Here’s the thing, although Regina is a fan favorite, I don’t think she’s capable of carrying an entire show on her own.
Yeah, this has always been an ensemble show with a heavy focus on the connections between Emma, Snow, Regina, and Rumple. In order for Regina to carry on without the other three, you need to fill the void with characters who are equally compelling and have an equal meaty history with Regina. So the task before the writers would be astronomical. You need to create, flesh out, and develop at least 3 characters who have the same narrative weight to Regina that Emma, Snow, and Rumple already have but you need to do it in the span of one season instead of the former 6. Why one? Because the ratings are already so low and in order to push this “new” show, ABC and A and E have one shot (one season) to prove that a Regina focused show can survive and prosper just like OUAT did.

The only thing I can think of that could possibly work…is if they did a villains/anti-hero focused final season.

There are people that are not big fans or Regina, but i don’t see a lot of hatred for her. Most people like Emma, Regina, and Rumpel. All of the characters have had their divisive moments and i do see people talking about Regina having a lot of screen time, but it is not even in the realm of how upset people were with the overuse of Hook in Season 5.
I don’t think the ratings are coming back up on this show no matter what they do though. Whether Hook stays or goes is not going to matter. If they had gotten rid of him earlier the show might have been saved, but it is too late now.

Hook on the other hand is hated by all the people from the fandom who do not ship CS, even those who don’t ship Emma with anyone, mainly because of how other characters were treated by the writers in contrast to how he was treated.

I think they need to wrap up all of the main cast’s storylines by this season’s end – they’ve needed to for quite a while. I think they need a total reset with a brand new cast (perhaps keeping Henry, but as an adult) for the show to successfully continue. Whether they could recapture what the original cast had with a new is up in the air.

Not entirely the case. I’ve seen plenty of Regina hate from Snowing fans, even as far back as Seasons 1 and 2. One of the biggest examples I remember was the reaction to when Regina managed to use light magic against Zelena. I myself even knew a fan who really disliked Regina, and they didn’t like Hook any better, so shipping had nothing to do with it. At the end of the day though, both Regina and Hook are polarizing characters, no matter how anyone slices it. We should probably move on from this, as it’s really starting to diverge from the main topic of this thread.
February 28, 2017 at 4:21 am #333648MichaelBlockedActually I’ve seen a lot of people starting to turn on Regina fairly so because the lack of balance of everyone in S6 so far compared to her. People have had enough of Regina hogging up the screentime.

WRONG, I don’t ship CS but I’m fine with Hook.
People have had enough of Regina hogging up the screentime.
Well other than Robert Carlyle, Lana is the best actor on the show, and the plot this season is centered around her splitting herself and the EQ running rampant. It’s not her fault she plays with characters. People honestly should not have a problem with this.

When this could possibly be the last season of the show or the last season of the show for many characters not named Regina. It is a massive problem. She can have all the screentime next season but this season should be balanced with people that may not be back next season.

Well now that this looks like the end, I fully expect the rest of the characters to start to take center stage as the season progresses. It may not have been the initial plan but now they have no choice.
