This theory has probably be said before so I’m sorry of it has:
I’m going with Bae also. With the help of the Blue Fairy, he was sent to the “The real world,” Like Emma and August, who are capable of entering and leaving storybrook with no harm done to them. August could of eventually ran into Bae, who tells him of Emma’s whereabouts, soon falling in love with her, they have a kid Henry. After the curse is broken August is a normal boy again and contacts Bae.
I’m guessing this is the most obvious. I’m just curious of how Regina got her hands on him.
My other theory is also Peter Pan, who can travel in both worlds. He was probably the one who helped create the spell, along with Tinkerbell. They’re bringing in Captain Hook. It would make sense.

Yeah I noted that as well, it’s untidy like a childs, or injured/restricted/older persons hand 😉

In the BBQ poster/pic of Once, Henry is wearing the same blue scarf thing that Bae was wearing in S01E18 (I think it was E18- the ep where rumple turns the egg guy into a snail & stands on him). H&K said there is an Easter egg as to who Henry's father is hidden on/in the pic of Henry & it isnt the bow & arrows- I'm hoping its the trunk he's standing on rather than clothing or what ever is hidden in the bow bag 😉
Wait-Henry is shown in that pic holding bows and arrows! His dad is Robin Hood! 😮

I can’t find it on here now, so maybe it was someone else’s theory somewhere, but I read that there was a Storybrooke postcard in Marco’s workshop. I looked here, http://onceuponatime.wikia.com/wiki/Marco/Gallery, but I can’t find anything even when I enlarged the photos of his workshop. I also didn’t find anything on Tumblr about it, and usually if there’s some kind of big piece of evidence about a popular theory, it’s on there. It doesn’t mean that there’s not a postcard in all of his stuff, but I was so excited at the possibility that there was actual evidence for August having written the postcard.
He was getting pretty desperate, so maybe before Emma broke the Curse, and he couldn’t function anymore, he sent off the pigeon to fool Bae into thinking it was okay for him to come (back) to Storybrooke that way Bae would be more likely to convince Emma about everything. Plus, one of the two best bets as to where one could procure a Storybrooke postcard, if Marco didn’t have one lying around, is either at the Sneezy’s store or at Granny’s Inn. The latter makes more sense to me because some inns/hotels already have postcards in the guests’ rooms along with the other free merchandise like a free pen, a sewing kit, a bottle of shampoo and conditioner, a bar of soap, etc.

I believe he either relayed the information to Blue, Jefferson or Henry. I’m leaning towards Henry as I prefer to think that AWB trusted Henry enough to follow through for him. They did after all have Operation Cobra going so why wouldn’t he ask Henry to send out the card once the curse was broken
Mary Margaret had a way with birds so it would make sense that her grandson would have the same gift. What a twist for Henry to have made contact with a man who could very well turn out to be his father.
I’m probably way off here, but still, it’s the way I’d like to see things turn out. I’d love to see Henry getting more involved.

I hadn’t heard anyone say it was Henry before, and i kind of like the idea. Like you said, one heck of a twist.
October 16, 2012 at 9:02 am #156900keieParticipantI do think the Mystery man is Bae BUT I also think that all the things in the apartment also allude to The White Rabbit. The clocks, the monocle’s, the Hatter poster…add to that the way he is dressed (a suit) similar to the White Rabbit’s attire…also the phone falling out the window as if falling down a hole (a rabbit hole)…
So lets see, Regina has been to Wonderland as has Jefferson before(I hate Wonderland) maybe just maybe and I’m just spitballing here, Bae met Jefferson in Wonderland at some point and maybe Jefferson even helped Bae escape Wonderland. (The Mad Hatter and The White Rabbit did know each other). It’s even possible Regina could have known Bae was in Wonderland and his connection to Rumple. It wouldn’t be unheard of for Jefferson to just randomly go around helping people Rumple cares about. Plus, there’s the fact that Jefferson KNEW of a connection between Belle and Rumple. How? How would he KNOW that Belle spent a short period of time with Rumple in the FTL? Unless, he was perhaps friendly with someone who had a REASON to keep tabs on Rumple….like his SON. Which leads me to believe that A. The Mystery Man in fact Bae and B. That he at some point lived in a world where having the trinkets he has is normal and that SOMEONE from SB knew him well enough to let him know the curse had been broken. So my long winded guess is he’s Bae/The White Rabbit.
October 16, 2012 at 1:33 pm #156921naomiParticipantThere seem to be a lot of clues that the Mystery Man is the White Rabbit. And…I don’t think that idea is too farfetched, if the symbolism is taken less literally. Some time ago people were theorizing that Emma was supposed to be the “Alice” in the show, and that Storybrooke was her “Wonderland”. This is meant figuratively, of course, rather than the actual “Wonderland” we’ve already seen with Jefferson and Regina.
If that’s correct, then who would be Emma’s White Rabbit? Someone who can travel between worlds – as he did in the Lewis Caroll version – and causes her to fall down the rabbit hole. Henry’s father perhaps?
As a completely separate idea: If he is the White Rabbit, wouldn’t that make him loyal to the king and queen of hearts? I’ve heard on the podcast that people were thinking that the Queen of Hearts was actually Cora. It might be interesting if this “Mystery Man” was part of a group who helped Cora get to Storybrooke…

The more I think about it the more the White Rabbit thing makes sense to me. It’s possible that Bae ‘fell through a rabbit hole’ when he was sucked into the vortex taking him to Wonderland forcing him to work for the Queen of Hearts (and wouldn’t that just be something if Cora really is the QOH. Having Rumplestiltskin son working for her, haha). Maybe he even became friendly with Jefferson (after Jefferson got stuck there) again there would be a connection where they might share things with each other, Jefferson loosing Paige and Bae loosing father…When Regina cast the curse it pulled Jefferson into SB and somehow threw Bae into the real world where he met Emma.
I’m convinced there’s a connection between Jefferson and Bae either way. Because again, how would he KNOW where Belle could be found. Regina didn’t tell him. Rumple never said anything to anyone in town. There’s no records he could have looked up. Somehow, he knew from SOMEBODY that Belle was a major thing to Rumple and he would want revenge. That person had to have had someway of looking in on Rumple…..like through a ‘looking glass’. Someone that would want to know what he was up too but not necessarily want to be around Rumple. Bae.
Also, something that just popped into my head. The ‘Cleaner’s and Hatter’s’ sign in the Mystery Man’s apartment. A ‘cleaner’ is another word for a hit man. Now I’m not completely up on my Wonderland lore but wasn’t the White Rabbit one of the people that would announce when the Queen wanted somebody’s head removed or at least present at the beheading?
One thing that’s bothering me though. The dove. I keep going back to the commentary on the Skin Deep episode and remembering them discuss how they used a dove to relay the message from Belle (her father or Gaston, possibly) to Rumple that they needed help. The scene was cut though. I just, I can’t get past the form of communication. The dove. Or maybe, it’s like in HP and all fairy tale people use dove’s instead of owl’s. lol
