Oh my!! Up until this last episode I was so wanting Emma and Hook to end up together. And I honestly felt like Emma and Neal had zilch going on in the chemistry department ever since their first episode together – and then even when we found out that Neal was Bae. But, after the Miller’s Daughter I now want Emma and Neal to end up together. Somehow, I think their chemistry just clicked in that episode. It was the first time I found the thought of the two of them in a relationship together believable and they were actually kind of cute and flirty.
And I loved the scenes with David checking out Neal and asking if everything was ok in Gold’s shop. I could just hear the thoughts in his head “So you’re the guy who knocked up my daughter?!?!?!” But it’s not really something Prince Charming would say out loud right???

Perhaps it’s also a case of liking whichever thing you’re seeing at the time too. Hook was nowhere around so SwanFire got all the airtime. I know I go back and forth at times to the point where I’m at least torn (even though I do still love the CaptainSwan potential). There were lots of good SwanFire moments in this episode though. I’ll be interested to see how you feel when the balance of airtime switches back!
I definitely wanna hear from Charming though. I’m sure he’ll have an opinion at some point, there are just more pressing matters right now than confronting the son of his grandson. Should be interesting since Charming usually holds back more and this time he might just let Snow talk rather than telling her not to push things!

We and Emma might feel torn, but if I think about how Charming feels, one guy knocked up his “baby,” the other knocked him down. If they need a filler episode, maybe they’ll be showing Charming and Snow trying to set Emma up with “nice guys like Archie”… ๐

This conversation brings to mind the song by the group Little Texas called “What Might Have Been”. The story is about a couple separated and coming together once more, but realizing maybe it’s better to leave everything in the past and move on. Is it really worth it to pick back up again or should you move on to other things.
“What Might Have Been”
Sure I think about you now and then, but it’s been a long, long time
Well I’ve got a good life now, I moved on
So when you cross my mindI try not to think about what might have been
Cause that was then and we have taken different roads
We can’t go back again
There’s no use giving in
And theres no way to know what might have beenWe can sit and talk about this all night long and wonder why we didn’t last
Yes, they might be the best days we will ever know
But we’ll have to leave them in the pastSo try not to think about what might have been…
Same old look in your eyes,
It’s a beautiful night
I’m so tempted to stay
But too much time has gone by
We should just say goodbye and turn and walk awayTry not to think about what might have been…
No we’ll never know what might have been.
Let’s hope our SwanThief/SwanFire has a better ending. We might not know what might have been, but there still is “what may be”. ๐
I truly believe that Neal is Emma’s true love & Emma is Neal’s true love. I don’t believe that their path to get back together will be an easy one. I think that Neal may care for Tamara but I don’t think he really loves her as much as he still loves Emma. It’s obvious that he still does love her and never stopped. I think if anything Neal was settling for Tamara because he felt that he may never ever see Emma again.
Emma I feel still loves Neal very much but is still hurt. In my opinion if she didn’t still love him. she wouldn’t have kept the car or the keychain. and she definitely wouldn’t have went to Tallahassee for 2 years.
Rumple saw it in Manhattan that Emma still loved Neal which is why he said “You Want A Second chance with that man” Emma in my opinion looked a bit hurt & saddened when he told he was engaged to Tamara.
Which is why this song by Lonestar comes to mind for Emma & Neal
“Not A Day Goes By”
Got a picture of you I carry in my heart
Close my eyes to see it when the world gets dark
Got a memory of you I carry in my soul
I wrap it close around me when the nights get cold
If you asked me how I’m doin’ I’d say just fine
But the truth is baby, if you could read my mindNot a day goes by that I don’t think of you
After all this time you’re still with me it’s true
Somehow you remain locked so deep inside
Baby, baby, oh baby, not a day goes byI still wait for the phone in the middle of the night
Thinkin’ you might call me if your dreams don’t turn out right
And it still amazes me that I lie here in the dark
Wishin’ you were next to me, with your head against my heart
If you asked me how I’m doing I’d say just fine
But the truth is baby, if you could read my mindNot a day goes by that I don’t think of you
After all this time you’re still with me it’s true
Somehow you remain locked so deep inside
Baby, baby, oh baby, not a day goes byMinutes turn to hours, and the hours to days
Seems it’s been forever that I’ve felt this wayNot a day goes by that I don’t think of you
After all this time you’re still with me it’s true
Somehow you remain locked so deep inside

I also believe Emma & Neal are supposed to be together but their journey back to each other is not going to be easy (for the fans or for them, LOL). Hopefully it’s an emotional journey that not only has all the lows (we know they have a lot of issues to work through) but also some high points where they have the fun banter and work together to figure out how to parent an 11 year old. I’m also still waiting for the scenes where Neal finds out Emma gave Henry up for adoption while she was in prison for his crime. That HAS to be important enough to warrant some crazy emotional scenes, right??! I didn’t miss where Neal found out that information, did I? I am SO anxious to see that moment between them and I will be pretty upset if they just gloss over it. ๐ฏ

#MoreBOOMLessGloomMarch 13, 2013 at 4:42 am #179567sam993ParticipantSo, the thing i want to understand about this ship is why would people want Emma to go back to Neal in the first place? I just want to understand better why. I despise this couple so much, not because I’m a Captain Swan ship (I wouldn’t mind seeing her with Anton), but because Neal is soo inconstant. He has that Romeo complex. He says he would be loyal to Emma, but then finds someone else. Does Emma really want someone like that? She would want someone that she can trust to always love her. Neal fell in love twice. Why would anyone want a man like that? Hook, on the other hand, stays loyal to one woman even after her death. True, he has been a pig, but at least he’s been constantly a pig and constantly loyal to one woman. You can rely on him. Neal says he’ll do something, but goes back on his word and betrays the love he had for Emma. Would Emma want someone she can always rely on being true to his character or someone who switches. Again, I don’t want to bash this ship. I just want to understand better. I hate Neal so much too.
March 13, 2013 at 5:32 am #179575JosephineParticipantSee, that’s where Neal-lovers differ from people who dislike the character. He left her and broke her heart, but the reasons behind those decisions are based on his love for her. You could see in “Manhattan” that his own heart was breaking even as he was breaking Emma’s. He knew what magic could do to a person and that the curse had to be broken at all costs. Emma was destined for a higher calling and she couldn’t acheive that destiny if he was a part of her life. So he did it in a way that would ensure that she would not come seeking him out. If she did, then she’d never break the curse.
Because of what he knew he did to her, Neal knew that Emma would never forgive him. Eddie and Adam even said that Neal thought that door was closed forever and so he moved on. Now that we know for sure that he’s Rumplestiltskin’s son, him wanting a postcard confirming when the curse was broken was his way of making sure that he did the right thing and she fulfilled her destiny. He never even entertained the possibility that they could pick up where they left off or that he’d ever see her again. You know the old saying of “if you love something, let it go.” It seems like both of the men in the Rumplestiltskin clan have lived by this adage. I think of it as him loving her so much that he set her free. However, I do think that if he’d had any inkling she was pregnant he’d have said screw the curse and the consequences and never left.
I have learned that everyone sees things in their own way, so while some people see what Neal did and think it was the ultimate sacrifice of love, others think he didn’t love her enough and abandoned her. It’s all about perspective. But I also have to admit that I’m on the flipside and I dislike Hook tremendously, so there is no way I could support a relationship with Emma. Hook is on Hook’s side and nobody elses. She seems too smart to fall for him and I’d lose a bit of respect for her if she fell for him. Hook is going to have to do some major character growth for me to ship him with anyone.
I want Emma and Neal together, but they have an awful lot of healing and growing to do before they even get to that point. Right now, I’m with KFChimera and wanting to point her in Archie’s direction. Now there is a nice man who needs someone in his life. Poor guy…give him someone to love, writers.

March 13, 2013 at 5:50 am #179577sam993ParticipantIt is sweet that he let Emma go so she can go back home, but that “he thought the door was close” that’s what bothers me the most. He didn’t fight for that love. He didn’t watch over her. He wasn’t loyal to her. If you have true love you stand by it. Yes, he gave her up because he loves her, but why did he move on when he knows that Emma is still alive and still able. You stand by who you meant to be regardless of what they are or where they came from. You wait. True love is worth waiting for. He didn’t.
March 13, 2013 at 6:11 am #179578JosephineParticipantPeople don’t always make rational decisions, even when faced with “true love”. Rumplestiltskin pushed Belle away despite knowing that True Love’s Kiss was working. He let his insecurities and fears override his love and it cost him. Neal’s fear that Emma would never forgive him for what he did to her made him stay away after the curse was broken. Like father, like son.
But as Snowing is always fond of saying, “I will always find you,” True love will find a way. Despite the setbacks, kidnappings, and other obstacles, it seems to be true in Rumbelle’s case, too. Those of us who are SwanFire supporters hope it’s true in this case, too.
That Lonestar song is a good one, too. There are so many heartbreaking country songs that could be applied to this show. Here’s another by George Strait that would be a good Neal/Emma song with him being in Storybrooke right now
Lead On by George Strait
She said I don’t recall seeing you around here
You must be new to this town
Said I’m just passing through
But girl from the looks of you
I could see me settling down. Then she smiled and said the invitation’s open
‘Cause you look just like what I’ve been waiting on
So I said why don’t we take this matter somewhere else
And get to know this feeling that’s so strong, lead on.She said I had a love once, but he just up and left me
I said I bet it broke your heart.
I had a love once too, but I acted like a fool
Oh what I’d give to be back in her arms. Then she smiled and said the invitation’s open
‘Cause you look just like what I’ve been waiting on
So I said why don’t we take this matter somewhere else
And pick up right where everything went wrong, lead on.She said I don’t recall seeing you around here
You must be new to this town.Bolded part just screams SwanThief/SwanFire to me. These two have a lot of work to do. ๐ฅ

As for any pairings, hopefully they’ll show people what they need to see in order to get to the “not happy but don’t hate them with a passion and lose respect for a character” stage for anybody who doesn’t get the ship they want. I’ve seen people threaten to stop watching even which saddens me, especially since we’re miles away from endgame.
I don’t think they’d pair Emma with either guy until they’ve done something to show the worthy side of them. Right now it seems like most (not all) have just taken sides and loathe the other one. There are potential and parellels in both stories to Snowing so it truly for me could go either way (though I do have a current preference). They clearly love playing up both of them cause it gets the fans invested and I’ve seen convincing arguments for either path. I think for now they’ll focus on the other stuff and it’ll be a long and winding road before Emma really focuses on love at all, giving both guys plenty of time to win people over or find someone new (I don’t want anybody left out permanently, they both deserve love).
