At paleyfest, Rob let it slip that there will be a major game changer between Nealfire and Rumple in this epp. What do you think it is?
I think it’s going to be when Neal learns what happened to him mom and it’s going to crush any chance they have at reconciliation (at least for a few seasons or so).
[adrotate group="5"]March 4, 2013 at 1:49 pm #176872RumplesGirlKeymasterI think that’s a really good guess. Also, we know that Neal knows Hook, but we don’t know anything about their relationship. Hook, when going up the beanstalk with Emma, seems to speak of the Lost Boys with some affection. Maybe he was a father figure to Neal.

But they had a falling out and became bitter rivals so I am sure that is where they are taking this. I believe hook knew exactly who bae was the whole time but bae didn’t know who hook was (his mothers lover). And that is why hook stated at some point that bae didn’t want to be found.

Are you talking about Neverland from SyFy? Cause I ADORE that one!

No in one of the original stories that actually have hook and Peter back stories before when they were in London. Hook was a thief who used young kids such as Peter to steal from people and he fell in love with Peter’s mother so he cared for him after her death to honor her until there falling out

I think Bae knows exactly who Captain Hook is in relation to his mother (i.e. the pirate who took her, which in itself is enough reason for Bae’s vendetta against Hook). If you recall in 2×4 The Crocodile, 7-year-old Baelfire found his mother in the tavern talking to Killian Jones. I believe that at age 14, Baelfire would’ve remembered his mother flirting with other men, and upon arriving at Neverland, would’ve identified Hook as that pirate who kidnapped his mother. Actually, it would make more sense to me for Bae to believe Hook had stolen his mother from him. It’s possible that Hook never told him that his father murdered Milha, but I have a feeling Hook disclosed this piece of information to Bae. After all, Hook isn’t exactly discrete about wanting his “revenge” or wanting to skin a crocodile; he repeats those phrases to anyone in earshot. The knowledge that Rumple killed Milha could’ve been yet another reason Bae didn’t want to be found by his father.
I hope the major game-changer between Bae and Rumple’s relationship will actually be positive rather than negative. So far, the relationship is obviously strained, so maybe things will actually start to look up by the season finale. Perhaps Rumple will lose his powers as the dark one. All Bae ever wanted was his father. If his dad were to become a regular man, perhaps through true love’s kiss with Bell, then that would go along way to reestablishing a father-son relationship again.

I’m taking the middle ground here and saying that Bae in Neverland may have recognised Hook as the man who had been with his mother that night, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he ever learned the whole truth, that she left them for him, and that his father ended up killing her.

Though Hook hasn’t been shy about stating it as far as we’ve seen, I dunno that that necessarily means he’d have told it to Bae. I don’t think he’d have wanted to hurt him that way, because he was part of Milah. Hook treated a shawl she made with reverence, so it wouldn’t fit IMO if he deliberately hurt her flesh and blood. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Bae never found out, I just hope we don’t see Hook spitting it out bitterly, directly to the kid’s face.

Rumple without the Dark One curse would definitely be a “game changer”. I’m thinking it’s gotta happen at some point, the question is when.

Plus if its not the paradise that it is in the original Disney film then Rumple will see what his soon had to deal with alone growing up and I am sure that will bring up memories of bae in neverland in bad situations wishing his papa was there to help him and take care of him

I don’t think so. The statement made by Robert Carlyle was:
Rumpel and Bae’s relationship may be in a sad state of affairs right now, but “there’s a little gamechanger” in Episode 22,
The words “may be” and “but” are keys here. I.e for now their relationship are not good but then something in episode 22 will change that i.e it will get better.

I could see this going either way but I really hope you’re right. It would add a layer to hook that we haven’t seen much. The whole relationship with Bae as being both part of the woman he loves and the man he hates can be really interesting. I do hope we get to see some degree of internal tension in him.
I could see him having the opportunity to say it and crush Rumple’s chances with him but then he remembers that Bae is Milah’s son too and bites his tongue.

It would be cool. I have this theory that, because Bae spent a few hundred years in neverland turning kicking Hook’s but into an art form, he would have more experience with a sword then David. Nealfire being the best swordsman in Storybrook. Rumple did all that to keep him from fighting and David’s so used to being the best…and poor Emma and her headache. Henry would just think it’s awesome.
Personally, I kind of hope it’s just Neal and Emma (and maybe Henry) that goes to Neverland. It would do for SwanThief what the trip to FTL did to the Emma and MM relationship. It would give them plenty of opportunity to patch up their relationship and maybe stop pretending they don’t still love each other.
