I’m not an expert on Fibonacci patterns, so I can’t say whether or not the pattern at the bottom of the hat (a presumption) is indeed related to a Fibonacci sequence. I did find it an interesting read to note that the Fibonacci sequence was found because he (Leonardo Pisano aka Fibonacci “son of bonacci”) had a fascination with rabbits and their reproductive characteristics.
So rabbits are shared by Alice in Wonderland, and the discovery of Fibonacci sequence; funny.[urlhttp://www.fq.math.ca/Scanned/1-4/wlodarski.pdf">http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/life/evolution/fibonacci-nature.htm/url]

Being so common in nature I would guess that the Fibonacci sequence is a happy accident for the show. I did notice the pattern in the bottom of the hat as it lay on the ground after Mary Margaret kicked Jefferson out the window.
Since Jefferson, and Grace may be references to the Jefferson Airplane for their song, White Rabbit; I’m also wondering if the daughter’s Storybrooke name of Paige is a tip of the hat to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. He was acknowledged earlier by the name of the previous Dark One. There is also a guitar in the hat making room of Jefferson’s mansion.
Jefferson doesn’t say his wife, or daughter’s mother died. He said she was lost because of his work. I wonder if that is significant?

Is that green door Oz?"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy
March 26, 2012 at 10:39 pm #139867miaParticipantHmm, the one besides the green one reminds me of China. Mulan maybe? 🙂
March 26, 2012 at 11:27 pm #139873SnickerdoodleParticipantI thought of China and Mulan looking at that door as well, Mia.
I looked up a list of animated Disney movies trying to think of other possiblilities for the doors. Here is my list — Agrabar (Aladdin), Neverland (Peter Pan), Atlantis, Mt. Olympus (Hercules), India (Jungle Book), England (Sword in Stone & Robinhood), France (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Kingdom of the Sun (Emporer’s New Groove), Naboombu (Bedknobs & Broomsticks), and Treasure Planet. And then the only land outside Disney I could think of was Oz.
Can anyone think of anything else/kingdom/world, and do any of those doors look familiar for any of those stories?
I think that gray chimney-like thing reflecting in the mirror is Regina 😉
March 27, 2012 at 12:17 am #139896cruel_fortunaParticipant@slurpeez108: I’m putting my money on Oz. Primarily because the door looks like curtains, which is central in the story because of the ‘pay no attention to the man behind the curtain’ line near the end. ( Also thanks for the screen-shot. I’m noticing some patterns on the floor outside what I’d initially mentioned. Hm… )
@Mia: I kept wondering about that one. My initial thought for some reason dealt with Valentine’s Day – however I now submit to your idea/theory in regards to that door. Looks oriental & could very well be Mulan.
@Sjm: Lol I might be Regina’s reflection yes but perhaps it really is a Chimney, as a sort of nod to Mary Poppins perhaps? If it is Regina’s reflection though, then does that mean there is another mirror directly behind the looking glass? I mean, based on slurpeez screen-caps I saw there was another door that had a mirror on it – but it wasn’t full length & it would have to be to cast her full reflection.
Another world would/could be Atlantica ( the Little Mermaid ) although, a part of me would want them to have to go through water to get there. So none of these doors directly correlate, at least, I don’t think so.

Though we’ve already heard EQ mentioning dealing with a mermaid, so wouldn’t Atlantica probably be part of Fairytale? Probably under the sea that Dreamy and Nova were talking about sailing away on?
Unless Regina made a habit of hopping between worlds once she had the hat. Can she even operate that hat though? Wouldn’t Jefferson have just said, “Here, take the freakin’ hat and get outta my house,” if it was something she could use herself?
March 27, 2012 at 11:15 pm #140057cruel_fortunaParticipantShe mentioned the mermaid in Skin Deep, if I’m not mistaken. However, there are mermaids in Peter Pan although I highly doubt she’s referencing them, in all likelihood, she’s talking about Ariel.
It is possible Atlantica is part of that sea, but seeing as it’s water, my mind wandered off & started thinking about what August said about water ( having magical properties ) … makes me wonder. How all we know, water could also be used as a portal, I think Jefferson’s hat allows you to choose which world you’ll end up in via the doors. Whereas other methods are probably less specific, in particular, the wardrobe that Emma was placed in, I mean, they didn’t know what world she’d end up in.After re-watching ‘Hat Trick’, I’m pretty convinced that anyone could use the hat, it’s just the fact that for it to work – 1) the hat must have magic & 2) You must follow the rules which the magic imbued in the hat lays out ( ie – for Wonderland’s Looking Glass it was – two enter – two leave – & Jefferson clearly states that not his rule, it’s the hat’s. )
So that makes me think that Jefferson had to trade something in order to get the magic for this hat in the first place.
( On a completely different note – I wondered upon re-watching the episode *upon a 3rd viewing* if perhaps Jefferson’s wife was even from FTL to begin with. Upon which I had the crack-pot theory that since Grace is Grace in FTL & Paige in SB – perhaps Jefferson met Grace’s mother – Alice in Wonderland & used the hat to bring her back to FTL. … just a fun little theory. It might also tie-in to who the Red Queen is – because in the original tale ‘Through the Looking Glass’ – Alice does stay for an amount of time & rule over Wonderland. )

March 27, 2012 at 11:45 pm #140063cruel_fortunaParticipantIt’s a possibility.
It would fall more in line with the original book version of ‘Through the Looking Glass’ because in the book Alice really does become a Queen. Although, it’s a rather short-lived regency considering both the Red & White Queens invite a great deal of looking-glass dwellers to a dinner party for Alice, where she grows; quite literally – tired of their riddles & eccentricities. ( I think this is somewhat portrayed in the Disney version, although very briefly. In the movie Alice runs away from the Red Queen & her guard to the doorknob where she’s pleading for him to open the door & he informs her she’s just through the keyhole asleep. / In the book she realizes she’s been asleep based upon the fact that she grows in height & proceeds to tell the Red Queen that’s she’s tired of her temper & she’ll shake her into a kitten – which she does. )// Wow. I really got off-topic, maybe I should just make a new thread in the character section for Alice.
