I would really prefer that Bae is a lost boy and not Peter himself. Peter is usually very against growing up, and I want him to be his own character. Why would Bae rename himself Peter and then Neal? I think that perhaps Bae ended up going to Neverland because when his father didn’t join him in through the portal, he automatically became lost and was sent as a lost boy.
I completely agree. Neal is already interesting as his own character. He doesn’t need to be Peter Pan, too. If anything, I’d like Peter Pan to be a mentor to Bae.

ParticipantItachiIshtar – that would be interesting.
The only thing about it is that we’ve seen that Rumple wears many hats (so to speak) so it’s not too big of a stretch to think that his son might as well. Who knows who else he’s got thrown in there (based on the idea he’s been running for a long time and may have stopped elsewhere too, we don’t know yet).
I can see both sides, he’s interesting enough as he is right now but at times there’s a lot of ‘like father like son” stuff so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he’s somebody else “important.”
Either way can we get to Neverland and answer some of these questions now?!? pleaseeeee
AngieBelle – I sent in an email to the podcast addressing the name thing: it would make sense that if Bae is on the run from his dad that he change it (way too unique a name) and that with every realm change he might change it again to have the trail stop. If anybody who knew who he was before came looking for that name, the name changes would make sense and if Peter were discovered to be Bae it would explain changing it to Neal Cassidy (which has Peter Pan references in it apparently) when he came to our world. If I were on the run with a unique name I’d keep changing it every time somebody figured out who I was too.

While I am still an opponent to the theory, I would say there’s another reason he would change his name from Peter Pan to Neal if he is. He would have likely discovered that people in our world already know of Peter Pan as a fictional character, so he would change it to retain his privacy.

ParticipantVery good point ItachiIshtar! That would make a lot of sense and it would give us some insight into the whole “how do these characters address the fact that other versions of their stories (and inaccurate ones to their minds) exist in the real world and that people know of them” thing. That’s something I’d certainly want to see (we’ve seen David mention that he read Alice in Wonderland as a kid – SB memory I know but still, but we haven’t actually seen anybody say they watched a movie or read a book about themselves. Emma recognized the idea of Captain Hook etc but it would be awesome to have somebody (even if it’s NealFire Pan) explain what that is like.)
Nothing like running away and telling the world your name is Peter Pan, rofl!

ParticipantI suppose that makes sense. I am still hoping he is not Peter himself, but I can’t deny that it could be headed in that direction. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

ModeratorIf he does turn out to be Peter, I will at least give the creators the benefit of the doubt and give them a chance to see how they handle it. I mean plenty of people initially opposed the idea of making Rumple the Beast, but following the premiere of “Skin Deep” people fell in love with him and Belle as a couple. Still don’t want to see it happen, but at the same time I have faith in Eddy and Adam.

The fact that he is important because he’s Henry’s father and Rumplestiltskin’s son is the exact reason to have him be Peter Pan.
These are the LOST writers. On LOST, names were extremely important clues.
They gave him the alias Neal Cassady for a reason.
Neal Cassady doesn’t have Lost Boy connections, he has many Peter Pan connections. The real Neal Cassady was known as the Peter Pan of his generation, not the Lost Boy of his generation.
That’s a good hint that he is Peter, I’d like to think after Rumple let Bae go he didn’t want Rumple to find him so he changed his name. then when he finally came to the real world he found Neal Cassidy to be an easy alias since he is the real Peter Pan. Bae was in Neverland a land with magic for 200 years Rumple could have managed to get there without casting the curse unless he couldn’t figure out he was there he had to at least changed his name. Also just based on the little that Neal talked about Hook it seems like he was used to making a fool out of him.

SpectatorNew tibit – Lighting Round 6 – The Bosses answered you questions
Neal (Michael Raymond-James) has been to Neverland, but does that necessarily make him Peter Pan?
Kitsis: It does not!
Horowitz: Twitter is making an assumption. We can’t answer questions based on assumptions. Was Neverland also affected by the curse?
Horowitz: Can’t say.March 14, 2013 at 1:56 am #179781MysteryKat25
ParticipantWell they didn’t lie…it doesn’t “necessarily mean” anything! Still doesn’t rule it out though.

Horowitz: Can’t say.For a while there I was really thinking that Neal could have been a lost boy that made it to our world but it’s looking more & more like Neal/Baelfire could actually be Peter Pan.
Based on Adam’s answer in regards to the curse affecting Neverland. I’m thinking it may not have affected it.
But now I’m wondering if Neal is the one who will either make the suggestion to Emma & Charming and Snow about taking Henry to Neverland for his protection or if he just decides to not say a word to anyone and just takes Henry to Neverland to protect him from Regina & Rumple.
