Spoiler TV had revealed new casting calls for 2×16
For episode 2×16, the guest role of “King Xavier” is being cast. he’s 45, has a mean sense of humor, and worries about being able to maintain his extravagant lifestyle since gold has become more scarce in his kingdom.
Also being cast is the co-star role of a 20-something “Prince Henry” (Regina’s father as a young man), whose marriage could change King Xavier’s fortunes. http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/01/once-upon-time-episode-216-roles-being.html
I’m thinking that “Prince Henry” could be a young King George, whose kingdom was always short of funds. Needing money, he was bothered to marry the miller’s daughter (aka Cora), who was said to be able to spin straw into gold. Of course, she couldn’t, and so she made a deal with Rumplestiltskin to trade her first-born, Regina, for the aid of the dark one.

January 8, 2013 at 8:18 pm #167534GrimmsisterParticipantWhat.. I’m confused, Midas is Xavier, Henry is George ?? How do you mean they are both ?
I’m thinking ‘Hey so Reginas father Henry was a prince.. But he wasn’t a king when we last saw him. What happened ?
January 8, 2013 at 8:29 pm #167537TheGoldenKeyParticipantI’m thinking that Henry Sr. was originally a prince and his father would be King Xavier. Cora brokered a deal with Rumple to spin Gold and marry young Prince Henry, only to renege once Reggie was born. Rumple in return made sure Xavier/Prince Henry lost their Kingdom and handed it over to either King George or maybe even King Leopard. King George seems more likely thus it being even more just that David take his kingdom away in return.
This would also explain why Cora was so obsessed with Reggie marrying royalty because she always knew that they were royalty displaced by a rebellion and replaced by maybe King George.

She probably harboures some hate and feelings of remorse, that she had to give up the kingdom and the power because of Regina. And then she has been taking it out on her daughter her whole life.
That’s also why she always says “love is weakness”- Love for her daughter and the need to keep her safe from Rumple is what robbed her of the chance to rule the kingdom.January 8, 2013 at 9:23 pm #167546antbeeParticipant@TheGoldenKey wrote:

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Cora wanted to be a Queen, and Rumple thought he had found the perfect person to enact the curse because of how ruthless Cora may have been. They make a deal and in exchange Cora agrees to give Regina to Rumple. However, she ends up tricking him, so he retaliates by making sure Prince Henry loses the kingdom to either King George or King Leopold.
I only hope that it’s Cora that really wants to be Queen no matter the consequences, because I don’t want another sob story about how her father was the one behind pushing her into lying about being able to spin straw into gold (even though I know in the original tale that’s what happens), and then it’s all Rumple’s fault for corrupting poor innocent Cora. I don’t mind if they show that she wasn’t as bad as she is now, but they don’t need to make her as innocent as they made a young Regina because the blame game is just going to become even more tiresome.

We usually do think alike AntBee 🙂 I also hope that the story only involves Cora and Rumple making a deal without any other outside influences. No need to see a boastful drunken father making up stories about his daughter’s abilities to spin gold. 😆

January 9, 2013 at 3:30 am #167608PheeParticipantGuess this rules out Cora having ever been married to George, huh. Bummer, I was kinda digging that theory.
Feels like we’ve been waiting for forever for this story, ever since people wondered if Regina Mills would be involved in the story of Rumple and the miller’s daughter, which was pretty much from day one of the show. Bring it, already!! 😆
