It’s minimized at first, as a blue “Community Chat” tab at the bottom of the window. It should open when you click on it.
If you’re not logged in, it’s a grey tab, which turns into the blue tab when you click on it, and then it opens when you click on it again.

Already pointed it out in the chatroom, but this isn’t the case for everyone. It could be a browser related issue, because for me the chatroom is tucked to the very right side of the screen, and doesn’t block my view while reading a thread.
I do not like the new chat room. It worked when I first brought it up, and it did take up half the screen, but then it failed every other time in Chrome and it doesn’t even show up in IE for me. I keep getting a pop up that the widget couldn’t load.
Edited: I found out how to change the size of the chat room. Drag the left side and it will move over and become narrower. I can do that, but it will not load to actually see people talking.

When I have a forum page open, even with the chat panel hidden at the bottom of the window, the chat’s “new message” sound can only be minimized, not turned off completely. Sound can be turned off completely when the chat panel is open in its own window, as long as I don’t have any forum pages open, so maybe there’s an admin setting for that.
I mostly don’t use the chat, but I like to have several forum pages open in Firefox tabs while I do my AV work, and the “bloop” is getting to me.

I managed to shrink the chat, but if I go to a new page it returns to its previous size. And yes, the BLOOP is likely to make me homicidal

I’d like to return the favor and collect valuable feedback on the chat. I already shared this forum thread with them.
On the display-size issue, oncepodcast.com is using what’s called “responsive web design.” Essentially, it makes the site’s design and layout respond to the size of your browser. Thus, if you have a narrow browser, columns will be more narrow and the chat will take up more screen space.
Has anyone tried popping out the chat to a new window?
