The first 6 minutes:
[adrotate group="5"]July 23, 2015 at 9:59 pm #306539TheWatcherParticipantwell…….my thoughts:
– the ipad in place of a book was brilliant!
– the start was interesting….the rest though… >>
– So. it took 7 years for the beast to marry belle? WHAT? That’s cray considering TLK and all. You’d think they got hitched the next day?
-Also, why is Beast so uppity about the villains? Sure I get some of them are extremely powerful and all but his villain was Gaston who wont even be in this film. Unless Mal was the one who cursed him, I don’t see why he had the reaction he had.
– Mal’s (the daughter, I mean) outfit looks terrible. The other kids are dressed fine but I think they should have gone a simpler route for her.
– That song made me want to not be alive anymore. Honestly, the lyrics were okay. Mostly. But that techno beat and that dance break was just horrible. Like I cannot even muster why that happened the way it happened, it just didn’t flow right to me, none of that song and dance. But whatevs.
I will watch for tons of reasons: I love Kristin Chenoweth and have faith her song will stil be golden. The graphics looks really cool. And I think that’s it."I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

I sense a phenomenon out of this, and the only issue I found was the terrible rearrangement of Be Our Guest, but everything else was perfect. I literally forgot there even was a OUAT because had it not been for Lana Parrilla as Regina, I’d say Descendants was better than Once.
Everyone was great, and you get quite the unexpected twist in the end! And Kristin Chenoweth….her song Evil Like Me, the only song written by Andrew Lloyd Webber in the movie, is the showstopper and highlight! Her and Dove Cameron…..PERFECT!!!!

Of all the kids that Belle’s kid could’ve chosen, why the hell did he choose them four instead of the ones on the island that weren’t causing upset for the rest of the people?

You can tell which children are “bad” because they wear leather and have sexy dance moves!

DANCE BREAK! VILLAINS ALWAYS HAVE WELL CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE SCENES TO PROVE THEIR VILLAINY.
Omg I have to watch this live. This deserves my snark.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"July 25, 2015 at 7:05 pm #306583TheWatcherParticipantI really feel that if this were a theatrically released Disney film, itd be fantastic. As a Disney CHANNEL film, I have little hope.
Thanks for the info though, WR. I’ll probably download it if I can find it.
Maybe ill post a review (spoiler blocked ofcourse) if I do fid it."I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

In all honesty, it’s bad in the so bad it’s good sort of way. It’s cheesy, over the top, campy, weird, and at times even sappy. Funnily enough, Zoic studios, who does the visual effects for OUAT, did the visual effects for this movie. Even the Maleficent Dragon shared some similarities in design, though not a complete carbon copy. Also like OUAT, it was also filmed in the Vancouver area. There’s one scene that I swear was filmed at the same bridge as the Emma and Regina scene from “The Jolly Roger.”

I too have just finished the film. I was gonna do a review but I shan’t for those who still wish to be unspoiled. But I will share thoughts:
– it was actually not THAT bad. I liked it more than I was expecting. I still feel there was TONS of stuff this movie SHOULD have done. This movie, with a just a little bit more work, could easily have been a hit. I’ve sen better, but I have also seen worse.
– The songs were a bit lacking for me. EXCEPT MALEFICENT’S SONG!!!!!! I loved the stage/broadway look of it, and i LOVED the wicked reference where she twirls her staff around like Glinda did during the Elphie/Glinda fight scene lol But yeah, Mal’s song and one other was good, and the final one wasnt bad and the choreography of the last song was a lot better.
– I love how the disney villain characters were rendered in this. Well most of them. They had personaility and were not carbon copies, of just generically evil. Kristin had this comedic evil diva flair to Maleficent (“Evilicious Queen!”, Raquel was absolutely cray-cray as Cruella. Cruella literally got the first laugh out of me in this movie, and the evil queen was funny as well (“Bitter! Party of one! Bitter! Party on one!” LOL) Jafar on the otherhand was underused and didnt even have the same personality or really ANY personality. I think his son, Jay, would have been a better fit as Aladdin’s child. I was very disappointed about Jafar considering he is one of my top two fave villains.
– The effects were awesome. And yes, Maleficent’s green smoke thing REALLY looked like it was taken out of OUAT and her dragon form looks a lot like her portrayal on Once, but ya know, better.
– I felt the movie needed a bit more closure, personally. We never find out what happens to the other villains left on the island (odd considering they are the parents of the main characters) we never really get some….information on Maleficent’s ya know, fate. I know we know what becomes of her, but i atleast would have liked one final scene where we see the little lizard grow just a tiny bit or something. And also Mal (the daughter) said there was more but the movie ends. Considering disney is making a sequel, i guess i can let it slide but ehhh. It just felt incomplete.Honestly, I would watch this movie again and I did enjoy it and I do genuinely recommend it.
And I slightly hope this is just a “rough cut” and not what will actually appear on tv. A lot of little tiny editing and continuity issues I noticed plus just some things I didn’t like about how they did some things (like Mal’s song on the lake including flashbacks to the scene we LITERALLY JUST SAW!!!!!!!!! IT WAS WEIRD!!!!!!)"I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

You’ll be happy to know that they don’t ever call Beast “King Adam” in this movie.
