I was hanging out on tumblar and found this theroy as to Whale’s identy and it blew my mind. We’ve heard about him being just about everyone but i hadn’t heard this one.
Now that it was stated that he is someone no one has guessed yet, I’m dropping my theories that he’s Monstro or Peter Pan. That leaves me pretty clueless, actually! I looked up some theories from other fans, and the one I actually really kind of like is him being Dr. Victor Frankenstein. Here’s one of the fans thoughts on this theory:
“Mary Shelley was on vacation—perhaps had a little party and made a bet with her fellow writers who could write the best horror story. She came up with the idea in a dream…the resuts became a story about a Dr. Victor Frankenstein. A scientist who tried to play god, loved Elizabeth, and then the monster took away the things he loved most. The scientist became quite paraniod that the monstor was following him everywhere…I’ve seen people citing Dr. Hopper’s observations on him…seem to match. Plus, his encounters with Mary Margaret and going for Ruby…
Another fan also said:
“As I continue reading I feel that the Dr Victor Frankenstein theory is the best. I may be rationalizing but David Anders apparently tweeted that episode 5 would ‘knock our socks off’ My guess is that this is his reveal and perhaps it is a coincidence that this at the end of October – Halloween special perhaps. Plus on the Singlebrooke video, Dr Whale says ‘sparks will fly’ or something like that. Dr Frankenstein used electricity to awaken his creation. He’s also carrying around an icebox in set photos. I’m hoping that it isn’t filled with body parts.”
To me, that theory makes a TON of sense. What do you guys think?
[EDIT] I saw something else in the facebook game that said he had a ‘god complex’. Well, since Dr. Frankenstein created the monster, he DEFINITELY might have a ‘god complex’!
What do you think? I don’t know how the name Whale plays into this.

September 18, 2012 at 1:33 am #154006midnight drearyParticipantI adore the Frankenstein theory. ADORE IT. It would be totally unexpected and it would put another powerful person in the mix. The only catch is that this person isn’t a man of magic, but a man of science. Very intriguing.

A friend of mine and I looked into it and found even more connections- Damon Lindelof (LOST producer/consultant for OUAT) co- wrote/produced “Prometheus” – Mary Shelley’s sub title for Frankenstein is “The Modern Prometheus”….Anders made a comment about red, white and blue – there’s a book/documentary “Nightmares in Red, White and Blue – Evolution of the Modern Horror Film”…and then there’s the “Schumacher” clue on the new app -(Julia Schumacher’s book and Thomas Schumacher/production pres. for Disney….producing ‘Young Frankenstein’ off Broadway) also hinting at Frankenstein.

September 22, 2012 at 2:49 am #154257enchantedoneParticipantI recently saw on a blog that someone thought he may be Robin Hood. I actually love the idea of him being this crazy womanizer in Storeybrooke but a do gooder in FT land. The frankenstein theory freaks me out…the idea of cut up bodies…wow…I did read a David Anders interview where he stated that he has known from the beggining who his fairy tale alter ego is and that his reveal is similar to Ruby/Red ridding hood/Wolf and Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin. Can’t Wait!!!

The orderly is another take on One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He’s Chief Bromden from the movie.

With the clues from the show, clues from the FB app, people think he is Ursula. What if he is King Triton? Ariel’s father? I feel like the writers might write Regina as the role of Ursula. Even though I would love to see an Ursula.
September 23, 2012 at 3:17 pm #154410marilouParticipantsomewhere K&H said that the story of the little mermaid would eventually happened but that for the moment, it was being pushed back because there is already too much ground to cover and since the reveal is in episode 5, I don’t think it’s gonna happen.
