What does all of that mean? I know what the “chipped cup” was in Disney’s animated Beauty and the Beast, but what is it’s significance in this format?
[adrotate group="5"]December 31, 2012 at 10:01 pm #166680elleParticipantI feel a bit more for Emma, Henry, and Snow White and Prince Charming right now. They just got back together after being apart again and again–and once more, they are forced to be seperated from each other.
The way Henry was holding on to Emma, and she to him, was heartbreaking.
I don’t really get why Mr. Gold needs Emma to come with him. He can leave Storybrooke now–he doesn’t really need her. He was already planning his trip while he Emma and Snow White were trapped in Fairytale Land, and his was willing to kill anyone that crossed the portal to keep Cora from coming, even if that meant Emma and Snow White, too.
December 31, 2012 at 10:12 pm #166681tiara_roseParticipant1. Reason: She owes him a favor and is good in finding persons and he needs a guide, because I think that he will be the only one in the moment who can get out.
2. Maybe this will be the anwser from the pilot: “Where did you get him (Henry)?”, Regina asked to Rumple.
3. He already knows that his course bounded the saviour to his son. (I hope not)Heros don't get their Happy Ending!
December 31, 2012 at 10:26 pm #166682elleParticipantOh, I really hope he did not know about Baelfire and Emma–it would be really low, even for him, to do all that to find Bae. And it would really break Emma for her to know that her whole life was mapped out without her knowledge.
But I do have a feeling that that might not be the case–she went to Mr. Gold at the end of Queen of Hearts and talked to be about the same subject. He told her that he didn’t create her–everything that she has done was her decision.
I know she owes him the favor and she is good at tracking people–yet he was willing for her to die to keep Cora back.
I think this will bring up how he got Henry is he had no idea who he really was at the time.

It’s significance on the show is that the chipped cup is a representation of Rumple’s love and devotion to Belle. After she left and he thought her dead he literally put it on a pedestal, removing what people presumed to be the Holy Grail, the most important artifact in Christianity, and replacing it with the chipped cup. After the curse brought them to Storybrooke, Gold still had that chipped cup despite the fact that for 28 years he had no memory of Belle. The fact that he kept it and cherished it is the cornerstone of Rumbelle fandom.
As for the Charming clan being separated, I’m fine with that if it means an awkward trip back to Storybrooke for the other side of the family. Emma, Henry, Gold and Nealfire all together on a trip is worth any separation from her parents. Plus, she owes a favor to Gold and her specialty is to find people. I think she’s going to floored at just who she actually finds. 😆

Especially since Snow White and Prince Charming have not gotten to spend much time with their daughter. And once again, they are forced to part with her.
Not only will she be floored, but she’ll feel as though everyone has had a hand in her life without her say–Pinocchio, Rumpelstiltsin, and Neal.
December 31, 2012 at 10:44 pm #166685tiara_roseParticipantYeah, I don’t will that either, but I have the feeling, that he connected them. Maybe not on porpose, but the curse is a big tracking spell to find Bae and has also the love potion from Snow and Charming in it and she is the product of true love. (Snow and Charming are always busy the find each other.)
Maybe Rumple thought that they find each other in this world, because he make this connection with the curse and they are both from the enchanted Forest, so that Bae is not completely alone. ( You know like Emma and August)I don’t think that he want to create the true love of his son or that he things that he is able to do that
(Because Love is the Most Powerful MAGIC in all the worlds). One thing is also that hints that Rumple don’t know about there time together. He let Henry almost die in the last episode of season 1. If Rumple know that Henry is his grandson he would never leave him alone in the hospital to go to the wood to bring magic back. Rumple is really a family man.

December 31, 2012 at 10:52 pm #166686elleParticipantI agree that he is a family man–that is why I can’t believe that he would give Henry to the woman he deems a monster, and endangered his life by giving him the apple. I know he never intended for Henry to die, but Emma may not have kissed him. I would think that if he knew Henry was his grandson, he would have kept him with him, or at least tried to befriend him more.
It could be that since Emma is the product of True Love and the savior, while Baelfire is the reason behind the curse, that that may have connected them. I had been against this theory before, but more and more I am supporting it, though mostly due to Tallahassee and how awesome Neal and Emma were together.
December 31, 2012 at 11:01 pm #166688JosephineParticipantI still say that Gold never lied to Emma in “A Land Without Magic”. He told her that her boy would be okay and he was. I think Eddie and Adam have admitted that Rumple has “glimpses” of the future, but essentially he isn’t a fortune teller.
I do think he has no idea that Henry may be his grandson. I just can’t see a scenario where he’d have that knowledge. We really do need to know how he came into acquiring Henry for Regina since we know he didn’t get his memories back until he met and heard Emma’s name in the Pilot.
As for thinking that Emma and Baelfire would find each other in this world, I don’t think this is the case, either. In “The Return” he more or less admitted to Archie that he really has no idea how old Bae is right now. He could be anywhere from 14 to elderly. All he really knows is that he designed the curse to bring him to a land where Baelfire is currently living. I think if Gold had it his way, he’d probably want Bae to still be 14 years old. The fact that he’s in his thirties means that he’s missed out on half of Bae’s life. While it’s not ideal for Gold, it’s fantastic stuff for us since that means that Bae could be Henry’s father and add another layer onto the story. Not only might Gold gain his son back, but he could have a grandson in the process. Something I bet he really never planned.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if not only does his son come back and he realizes he has a grandson and is in a way in-laws with the Charmings, but if the hospital photo was real and Belle really is pregnant. Talk about drama! Never going to happen, but it would be dramatic and eye-popping.

December 31, 2012 at 11:09 pm #166689elleParticipantHe did lie–he told her that the love potion was the only way to save Henry. It wasn’t. All she needed to do was kiss him. Then he lied about how Regina abandoned her and got her to trust him.
I agree that he probably didn’t know Henry was his grandson. He has done much, but it is hard to think he would use his own grandson like that.
And I think he figured that Baelfire would be older–he believed August was Baelfire at one point. He’s been searching through space and time for Baelfire–he must have an idea with age.
I wouldn’t say he ha gained a grandson–his relationship with the Charming Family is shaky at best. Emma doesn’t like him or trust him. And I’m willing to bet that Snow White and Prince Charming won’t be happy to have him in the family, either.
