Princess Jasmine….calling it!
…why?
Think it through, guys. We have 3 villains that need back stories and 11 episodes to do it.
We have one Af-Am actress playing a villain.
Logic, guys.

Well…logically Ursula is the most expected choice.
But considering nine times out of ten, we have Aladdin in Season 5….I’d say we get a very very brief glimpse of Jasmine before then, just like we got a glimpse of Robin Hood in S2 before S3.
But Ursula…it can be high expected for young her. But why is her name Miranda?

Why would it be Tiana when we have like a million new villains?I’m skeptical it’s a Young Ursula for one reason. How many times do they announce a casting call for a younger version of a pre-existing character with a pseudonym? Normally they outright say their correct name if it’s just a younger version of a pre-existing character, or they don’t announce the casting call at all. So I’m going with Tiana. As Corbin mentioned, they didn’t mind shoehorning in Rapunzel as a one off, so who’s to say Tiana wouldn’t be? I won’t rule out Ursula, but I have my doubts.

But she’s not pre-existing. Until 411 she hasn’t been seen (as a human) on the show. And unless you watch the promos and keep up with spoilers, you don’t know Ursula is coming
Also, not for nothing but the most famous Miranda in literature is from the Tempest…the young girl who lived on an island with her father who was seriously over protective (very a la TLM–and that whole play is a big inspiration for TLM…)
*shrug* Tiana is possible if they are doing a Rapunzel situation where they randomly shoe horn in a character for sheer purpose of acting as a prop to another one. I just think Ursula is far more likely

This is peculiar. Why mention her voice? Will this character doing some singing? Are we finally getting a musical episode 😛

I’d like to think that they wouldn’t shoehorn in another POC as a throw away one off character. They got flack for doing it last time, they’d be incredibly stupid to do it again.
The way they describe this character doesn’t make her sound like a goddess, (why would they even need a younger version of a goddess), but who knows how they’ll retcon Ursula’s story, so maybe they’ll make it that she used to be a regular old human princess back in the day and she got cursed into being a Siren or something.
Just for the sake of being different, here’s a suggestion: What if this is an origin episode for Ursula, but “Miranda” isn’t young Ursula but is actually…. MORGANA

My first thought was that it was Tiana but by the sound of the EW article, it seems like they are going to try and fit 3 different villain origin stories into an 11 episode arc, so why would they waste an episode on Tiana?
Who ever it is, they’re likely going to be a part of Ursula’s backstory, perhaps maybe the reason why Ursula got banished?
