How do you know Cyrus isn’t the genie of the lamp that Aladdin discovered? I haven’t heard any press about that point.

It’s entirely possible that I’m making this up in my head. But I swear I heard them say that somewhere. I’ll have to go back through some of the panels.

Pretty sure I’ve heard them say somewhere that he’s not that genie, but I can’t remember where. He lives in a bottle though, not a lamp, which suggests he’s not the genie from the Aladdin story.

I went through TCA’s and CC and couldn’t find it. But it was after they announced Naveen as Jafar. Or Phee and I are hallucinating.

But yes, he does live in a bottle, not a lamp so I don’t think he is THE Genie but I’m betting he has history with Jafar nonetheless.

Perhaps Amara is the Genie from the ring? There were two genies in the original Aladdin tale, one from the lamp and one from the ring and the ring genie is normally portrayed as female.

Lizard reminds me that in Alice in Wonderland there is Bill the Lizard that gets stuck in the chimney in the White Rabbit’s house.

Though not sure where they’d go with that, pretty minor character that seemed uninteresting.

The 1926 animated film The Adventures of Prince Achmed (the earliest surviving animated feature film) combined the story of Aladdin with that of the prince. In this version the princess Aladdin pursues is Achmed’s sister and the sorcerer is his rival for her hand. The sorcerer steals the castle and the princess through his own magic in this version and then sets a monster to attack Aladdin, from which Achmed rescues him. Achmed then informs Aladdin he requires the lamp to rescue his own intended wife, Princess Pari Banou, from the demons of the Island of Wak Wak. They convince the Witch of the Fiery Mountain to defeat the sorcerer, and then all three heroes join forces to battle the demons.

Interesting, we have the boiling sea, and a Witch of the Fiery Mountain (Red queen?).

Interesting! Yes the land where Cyrus is “thrown” off the cliff isn’t once I can readily place unless it’s part of WL.

It’s possible that at the time Alice met Cyrus in WL, he had yet to met Aladdin or to become the genie of the lamp. Perhaps after he falls off the cliff he will land in Agrabah, where he then meets Aladdin and grants him wishes. Maybe Aladdin’s final wish will be for Cyrus to be free and to get back his true love, Alice, and so will conclude the mini-series.

As I said on the other post, what if Amara is the White Queen. Both the Red Queen and Queen of Hearts are powerful magic users. I’d assume the White Queen is as well. Also, she could be both White Queen and Jasmine’s mother. The Sultan wears white….a terrible connection but hey its something.
