I do think it’s just a sword lying around Gold’s shop, but I think it’s significant that Neal grabbed that sword, the pirate looking one. The fact that he knows how to wield a pirate sword might indicate that he’s used one before, IE: the one Hook is giving Emma.
Also, thanks Slurpeez for putting in the pic. Apparently Capser-Peeves hates me today.

To me, the blades look different. The only commonality might be the curvature of the blade. But it makes more sense that they’re two different swords: the first one Neal is holding is from Mr. Gold’s shop (where it remains to this day), and the second sword is from Hook’s ship.
I agree.

Bigger version: http://screencapped.net/tv/onceuponatime/displayimage.php?album=1449&pid=1657385#top_display_mediaTHAT blade does look to me like it could be the one that Emma’s carrying around with her Starbucks. Whether or not it’s the same thing she’s holding in the other pic, I’m inclined to say it’s not that long, but agree that the angle could be deceiving.
Whatever the weapon is that he’s given her in that scene though, I do think it’s something he once gave to Bae. Hook is speaking, and Emma’s holding it carefully and listening intently. That means there’s some information that goes along with that particular weapon. That would fit with something along the lines of, “I gave this to Baelfire once, during the short time he lived on the ship, and I taught him how to fight.”
Then Hook will smile sadly at the memory and I’ll collapse in a pile of FEELS. And Emma will look at it and have a moment, because she believes Neal is dead, and here’s an object that he touched and she’s touching it too, and I’ll officially be a puddle of FEELS on the floor.

Agreed. I think the first step with Hook and Emma is bonding over their feels of Nealfire and I think in that shot of the two of them, Hook is explaining Neal’s time aboard the JR.

Oh I’m sure they could. And I’m sure they will. But this is a poetic thing. This is a bonding moment between Hook and Emma. This is TV emotional drama compared to TV magic convenience.

September 5, 2013 at 12:02 am #208210HappyEndingsSpectatorPREVIOUSLY ON… | After Tamara and Greg — acting on behalf of the mysterious “Home Office” — disappeared with Henry into a portal, Emma, Snow, Charming, Rumple and Regina boarded Hook’s ship to venture to Neverland, where they’re fated to confront the one they “all should fear”: Peter Pan.
COMING UP NEXT | Being a realm where you never grow up, “We feel like Neverland makes people confront their pasts,” says cocreator Eddy Kitsis. “Plus, it’s like a jungle, so it’s magical yet at the same time dark and sexy.” Just be wary of he who lords over the place. As cocreator Adam Horowitz notes, “If The Dark One is afraid of someone, you should probably listen to him!” Our intrepid travelers will have to deal with one another as well. “They all have this baggage and history that we’ve built up over two seasons, and you see it all come out,” Kitsis says. (Meanwhile on the romantic front, “The feelings between some of these characters will be hard to deny.”) Back in Storybrooke, Belle’s role in the larger arc “becomes clear early on and is something we’re really excited to reveal,” says Horowitz, while Neal “has a big problem,” injured and stranded as he is in Fairytale Land. Asks Kitsis: “How is he going to get back?”
TVLINE BONUS SPOILER | NBC’s Revolution lent Giancarlo Esposito (aka The Magic Mirror) back to Once, but to what end? Says Horowitz, “If the Evil Queen is going to find out that a sleeping curse [on Snow White] was broken, who better to deliver the news?”

September 5, 2013 at 8:47 am #208231RumplesGirlKeymasterBelle larger arc, to me at least, means for the season as a whole, not just the first half. We know her role in the first half is as some vision Rumple is seeing (I think that’s what is happening anyway) but I think by episode 11 she and Nealfire will be in NL. The larger arc I think deals with what is being set up for the second half of the season, which in my head, is THO seeking revenge on our gang for whatever happens in NL. Also, in my head, it’s led by Dorothy and we all find ourselves in Oz before the season is out. *please be Oz please be Oz please be Oz*
