See, I thought about that too…in fact I wondered if maybe red could also wind up being dorothy or possibly the wicked witch of the east tho since so far she has been good i would go for dorothy first. If you notice there are quite a few episodes in which Ruby is wearing what could be ruby slippers without all the sequins. Either way it could make for an interesting episode and as far as the relationship between quinn and anita could be the same just different characters…Can’t wait to find out!! My only reservation about him being the wizard of oz is that technically the wizard of oz was not a real wizard, just a man using modern inventions in a world that did not understand them and passing them off as magic..

Agreed. Emma’s got enough drama going on already. I hope they hold off on any sort of romantic entanglement for her until the 2nd half of the season at the earliest.

Plus, at least on paper, I think that Quinn and Red might have more things in common because if we finally get to see what happened to Red immediately after the events of Red Handed, she probably was shunned because of her magic in a similar, albeit not totally the same way that it sounds like Quinn has been shunned by other people. Also, I would assume that Peter was Red’s true love, but maybe he wasn’t. Or maybe they’ll show this season that even if someone doesn’t have true love, it doesn’t mean that they can’t love someone else, since Snow may have loved Lancelot or not, and Rumple could have loved his first wife.

If this Quinn character becomes recurring, (for all we know he may be a one shot), and he is the wizard who gave Red the cloak, I could certainly see them pairing the two of them up in SB.

Here’s the tweet that confirms Jarod Joseph (who plays Billy) is set to return to OUaT. In case you’re wondering, Anthony Hemingway is set to direct the episode.

Whenever I see the name Billy for this character, I think of the Three Billy Goats Gruff story. It makes me fear that Red’s gonna try to eat him some day soon. Stay away from bridges during the full moon, just in case, Billy!

Well, legend says that Merlin was born of a mortal woman who was impregnated by an incubus, so that right there contradicts the casting call, but I figure they can make up any history they want for him. Given that we’re already getting Lancelot and presumably Lady of the Lake, it’d fit if they want to use some more Arthurian characters a few eps later. That’s one of the reasons I’d thought that Dr Whale may be Merlin, because they were introducing Arthurian legend early on in the season, and I figured the Dr Whale reveal would have to come early in the season too.

Hmm, i don’t see Merlin being born of a mortal woman and an incubus being a contradiction to the casting call. I could see that and the fact that he is a warlock because of it being a good enough reason for his family to shun him. First of all an incubus is supposed to come to mortal women in their sleep and it is not necessarily voluntary on the woman’s part. So if she did have a son as a result he would be a constant reminder to this and if she had a husband who had been off fighting the ogre wars then he would be a constant reminder to him of his wife’s, well not really infidelity, but that she had had intercourse with a demon…voluntary or not. I think that could easily work with the casting call they gave out…or maybe I am just biased because I just never liked the idea of Dr. Whale being Merlin. I do however like the idea of him being Dr. Frankenstein. My own theory right now is still that he is Monstro, though I know because he joked about it one time everybody shot that theory down, but I still think it is a possibility though I think he might also be King Triton whom Ursula curses as Monstro…or because of the god complex thing possibly Posiedon. Or maybe a greek mythological hero since most of them are half-god…I need to check out who the famous greek heros are who are sons of Posiedon. While I love the Frankenstien idea, I have to admit posiedon was the first thought that popped into my head because of the god complex thing, though that may be because I am a Percy Jackson fan and am looking forward to the new book in October. Something that is interesting to note is that Disney does own the rights to those books since they are published by Disney hyperion…

ok I know people are going to hate me for saying this and quinn’s casting call sounded nothing like Bae, but I have to admit out of all of them I think he looks the most like Bae…and he will probably be my new crush on the show. though I think it would be an ironic and hilarious twist if Bae acrtually had magic he didn’t know about from maybe his mother’s side of the family? Especially when he was so against his father using it. the only way I could see that happening is if he got transported to a world other than ours though. So probably not..

Ha ha! Don’t worry, you won’t be the only one. 😆 He’s a cutie for sure. And it would be a cool twist if Bae became a man of magic. Often times, children who spend so much of their lives hating their parents end up becoming just like them. Tragic irony. 🙁

I think 2×7 is now being filmed! Meghan Ory just tweeted that she did a night shoot!

I’m thinking that this Quinn (Merlin?) character is the powerful wizard who gave the enchanted cape to Granny for Red. This could be that backstory! 🙂
