    Wait did I miss something.

When Nimue drank from the grail…. Did she just become immortal? Or did she become a second sorcerer (sorceress?) because I recall Merlin said that killing Vortigun will “turn her magic dark” and at that point I don’t recall Nimue ever having used magic.

She used dark magic to rip out Vortigan’s heart and then crushed it.

At that point, anything Merlin said — even if the words weren’t strictly accurate — would’ve translated as “Don’t”. But I think she was already evil well before that, just not evil evil. You know, Vader evil but not yet Emperor evil.

Plus, Merlin going missionary dating is just kind of funny.

How did she even know how to do that…?

I guess because magic is emotion? She felt like wanting to rip out and crush out Vortigan’s heart, so it just happened like that? Also, it seems like Dark Ones don’t need intense training in order to perform magic like say Regina did, but rather just inherit the knowledge instinctively. The same would apply to Merlin, if that’s the case.

Yeah, Merlin just randomly created a forest without effort immediately after gaining his powers.

His power came from god, though. Those are like special. (at least that’s how it read on screen)

Well technically Nimue drank from the same cup as he did…. Does not her power come from god(s) as well? That’s what I am asking, did drinking from the cup basically give her the same powers as him but her actions turned them dark or did she already know magic or….

Ya know what, I just cannot even >.<

Me trying to understand this show:

Well the gods didn’t zap her even though she was clearly unworthy (girl turned around and killed a dude) so maybe there are no more gods…or something

I think she had the ability to be a good sorceress like Merlin, however her need for revenge was so strong it turned her magic dark. She had the option to take a different path, just as Emma had the option of succumbing to Nimue and the darkness or fighting for the light. Perhaps what makes you worthy of drinking from the Grail is your strong will. We see Mortal!Merlin’s strong will to live over his friend. He pushed to fin the grail where his friend was content to say it was just a marage. Perhaps Nimue’s original intentions were pure – live forever with Merlin and be together forever, which is why she was deemed “worthy” to drink. Or perhaps, like Merlin, she spoke and acknowledged the God (s) before taking a drink, and that was what allowed her to drink – the respect she showed the God (s)

All together, I loved the twist, but I can’t quite figure out a good reason she could drink from the cup and Merlin’s friend could not.
