While I’m sure Rumple will find a way to fix this, this relationship has become very tiresome. Just last episode, Belle declared that she wasn’t going to allow Rumple to use dark magic, but then she just used dark magic from Zelena! It’s a sleeping curse. Just after she told Rumple she’d no longer allow him to darken her soul (something I don’t get at all, since pushing Gaston in the River of Souls was obviously an accident), Belle turned right around and sought help from a woman who tortured Rumple and killed Nealfire. Also, why does Belle think her father of all people can save her? Isn’t he the one who tried to force her into a loveless, political marriage? *Sigh*

I still think she’s not trying to manipulate him, but that will be the end result anyway.

See and this is one of the reasons why I think Belle might be manipulating Rumple. She has to know that Moe can’t do it; she’s already had TLK with Rumple (if a brief one). So when Moe fails, Belle’s depending on Rumple deciding to give up the darkness in order to save him.

But that’s not how TLK works. It has to be a mutual thing. And surely the shows version of Google who reads nothing but hero-romance tales knows this.

But remember who Belle is: She believes in the best in the people she cares about even when EVERYTHING is telling her not to. She is smart and she knows how magic and love work, bookwise anyway, but she also has intense affections for people, and I think it’s very hard for her to understand how someone could actually NOT love as intensely as she does.
She loves her father, therefore she believes in him and has difficulty seeing how it couldn’t be mutual or strong enough to save her from the sleeping curse.
It’s not a logical thing she’s doing exactly–it’s driven by her emotions of fear and love. She’s not trying to coerce Rumple; she’s trying to stop Hades from taking her child. And her faith in her father comes from her own emotions towards him, just as in the past her faith in Rumple has often done despite evidence that he was being less faithful to her (as in lying/clinging to his power, not cheating as in an affair).

She was until last episode when she uttered that darkness will always win. She’s in a bad place, I agree, and what made last week compelling was that she is starting to see the gray and not hold to a black and white worldview. That should extend to more than just Rumple; it should include herself and her father and their relationship. She has absolute faith in her father (despite evidence to the contrary) but not in Rumple (again, despite all she learned last week and just in general)? It’s like they washed away all development last week in order to have the plot this week.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 18, 2016 at 10:43 am #321675KebParticipantYeah, that much I agree with. I was very frustrated with this ending and I can only assume it was forced (though it isn’t ENTIRELY OOC for her) because Emilie needed maternity leave…which probably also shades Snowing’s choice, as beautiful as that moment was.

April 18, 2016 at 11:02 am #321677thedarkonedearieParticipantSo I don’t think it was on purpose. Belle wouldn’t do that. She would however rush into doing something drastic without fully understanding the consequences. And I truly do think Belle loves her father. And despite what others think, and what Moe has done in the past, I think he really does love Belle and he always does what he feels is truly right for her, regardless of whether that is true or not. It reminds me of Cora’s love for Regina. Moe loves his daughter very much and I guess could break the curse. But he’s not even in the UW right now! Why would she think he could even get to her? It was so dumb I thought. But I don’t think she put Rumple in this spot on purpose.
Obviously they are setting up Rumple to get rid of the darkness and make TLK work for Belle. But how is he going to get rid of the darkness? Does this mean he won’t be the man who wields the darkness for good? Is there another way to get rid of the darkness without using Excalibur, and the writers just haven’t revealed it to us? Getting rid of the darkness would at least connect the two half seasons.

Then as much as I would roll .y eyes, whip up a magical macguffin for her to chase and let Em have her time off. It’s silly but as at least it’s not this stupidity.
