A better solution would have been to let Belle go with Snow back to SB, from where she could have then traveled to NYC. Belle being in A Land Without Magic where Hades has no power would have been a sufficient explanation and would have let EdR take her maternity leave.

Curious: does this mean that a sleeping curse stops ALL growth and development for a baby??? Because women in comas continue to gestate and even have a c-section….

I have a question, If Rumple wakes Belle up with TLK does that necessarily mean he has to give up his darkness?  Can’t he give her TLK and just wake her up from her curse while remaining the dark one?  Are they saying he is not capable of true love because he is the dark one?  Rumple has tried true love’s kiss a couple of times now on Belle with no luck (Season 2 in the hospital and the Lacey episodes) but I always thought that was because Belle did not know who she was and therefore did not share true love with Rumple while having no memories of Belle. At that time it was not even mentioned that if he gave Belle TLK he would no longer be the dark one.  The other question would be is the show saying that Belle no longer has true love with Rumple because he is now the dark one again?  I did not think true love could come and go like this, either you have true love or you don’t.

What a phenomenal question! If they do go that route, it flies in the face of Skin Deep and I dunno, the entirity of the Rumbelle ‘ship.

Yeah I feel like in order to wake her, he’ll have to either fully accept that he can only use the darkness for good, although not sure how they can show that and have it stick to work on TLK, or get rid of the darkness forever.  I am more inclined to think the latter will happen somehow and it will close out the DO saga.

Important question: Rumple’s ability to come and go from the Underworld required both his blood and the DO dagger/magic.

If he gives up his power before they go back to Storybrooke/other realms, are they all stuck?

I’m sure there’s a MacGuffin somewhere to help them out. (sarcasm)

But in reality, it’d be a very nice Cosmic-beat if it’s Emma who gets everyone out of this jam through some sort of Savior-y thing. Maybe she bends reality and breaks a hole in the fabric of the universe so that they can traverse out of Underbrooke.

What I want to know is how Rumple could break Belle’s sleeping curse without also breaking his own curse in the process. He’d have to be willing to let go of his darkness if there were to be any hope of showing Belle that she, not his power, were his true love. If that were to happen, then it seems like his curse would inevitably be broken too if he awakened her with TLK. Two curses being simultaneously lifted could be an interesting new take.

So can you get rid of the darkness simply with true love’s kiss?  I mean we did see Rumple lose his scaly skin for a second when she kissed him before.  Maybe it’s that simply to get rid of the darkness.

I think you also have to be willing to give up darkness, though. Belle and Rumple (and Emma and Hook) kiss when one partner is the DO to no change.
