Am I remembering wrong, or does her “soul” (or consciousness) get stuck in the Red Room of Fire? That doesn’t seem like a good place to spend your second trimester
You’re not misremembering. And she’ll have nightmares afterwards as well.

And actually, what happens to the baby’s consciousness? Because Belle made it sound like her pricking her finger stops everything from developing, meaning the baby is more or less “put on ice” or in this case, put to magical sleep along with Belle. Does the baby go to the Red Room of Fire as well?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 19, 2016 at 3:21 pm #321788KebParticipantI’m holding out a shred of hope that we’ll get to see Belle comforting her child and meeting up with Henry in the Netherworld.
But I doubt they’ll throw us that bone 🙁

I suppose this depends on what the show runners’ assumptions are regarding consciousness and ensoulment. Minimally, Belle clearly believes that the sleeping curse is subject to vertical transmission.
With the Dark Curse, it seems that time stoppage/prolonged gestation didn’t have any nefarious effects on Cinderella’s offspring (as far as we know, since they’re been long gone to FCI). But it seems to me that these two conditions are different. In one instance, time has literally stopped, and the person is endlessly repeating the same day, like a broken record. In the other, though, it sounds like one’s consciousness is aware, while bodily processes stop (and the body is, de-facto, dead until such a time as TLK happens). Hence Snow was, iconically, in a coffin. In fact, this is the central horror/drama of the original “Dead Princess” trope. I don’t know how I feel about zombie pregnancies. I stopped watching The Walking Dead once it started shambling into that general direction.
Alternatively, if Belle’s body is not, in fact, “dead” but rather “comatose,” then what is to prevent Hades from accelerating the pregnancy without needing the mother to be “present” as it were? We’ve certainly had “real world” precedents, of a sort. At best, this whole thing gets us into a medical ethics quagmire. And the most vexing thing about it all is that I’m afraid that when it comes time to resolve this birdbrained plot point we are going to get something like… wait for it… wait for it…
YOUR QUESTIONS ARE POINTLESS! (Has it been gif-ed yet?)
April 19, 2016 at 3:40 pm #321796PriceofMagicParticipantAurora’s pregnancy was “put on ice” when she became a monkey so it’s not unheard of on this show to pause pregnancy.
What if Zelena was lying to Belle about the sleeping curse pausing a pregnancy?
Just had a thought. Belle’s name means beauty, Belle’s just gone under the sleeping curse. Belle is now literally sleeping beauty. Also in a version of sleeping beauty, SB became pregnant and gave birth whilst still cursed.
All magic comes with a price!

Yeah that’s true. But in this case, the fetus’ consciousness would be sent to a burning fire room of nightmare not simply (lol simply) turned into a different type of mammal. I mean, yes, yes….pointless questions. I know.

Another possibility is that instead of destroying the darkness and his powers, it converts the darkness into light. After all, we know that the Dark One’s power is sourced from the Holy Grail just like Merlin’s. It was not darkness originally, but became darkness once Nimue crushed Vortigan’s heart and tainted her magic. So maybe Rumple would become the Light One, as shown in Season 4’s finale, and this could even “cleave” him from the dagger. The Dark One willingly ready to lose his powers to save their loved one could be the ultimate test of selflessness.
OMG this is now my headcanon! This magic was transformed to darkness by an act of malice, and it will be transformed back to light by an act of true selflessness!!!
I love it! 😀

April 20, 2016 at 12:51 pm #321846SlurpeezParticipantWhy did Belle even need to undergo a sleeping curse to stop her baby developing? They’re in the Underworld where time stands still (much like it does in Neverland). Without hope, there’s no growth, only decay. Hence, the symbolic broken clocktower. I know, I know.
My questions are pointless, and we’re overthinking this.
