Ok, so i have been re-watching the series and I’ve noticed some things that have gotten me wondering about some possible theories that have been inspired by objects or comments, rather than the character driven hints.
For example, the chalice in Rumpel’s house, is it the Holy Grail? this theory was triggered for me by a string of clues…the Siren Charming kills at the lake could be the same one that gave Excalibur, Granny mentions a wizard who gave her the cloak, Mulan carries the strongest sword in the land…also magical, maybe Excalibur? And of course…Lancelot is/has been a character.
this is on of my many ‘object based’ theories…i want to hear some of yours.

Is there a special significance to the golden chalice that Rumplestiltskin replaced with the chipped cup? Horowitz:How he got that chalice is perhaps a story for another time, but the significance is his prized possession is being replaced by another prized possession, which is the chipped cup.
So, maybe they’ll introduce it in a future season.
Alot of things in Rumplestiltskin’s castle were nods – Mickey’s hat from Fantasia, The Golden Fleece…
I’m pretty sure Excalibur is there…in the scene where Belle gets a vase for the rose (Gaston lol)….she walks past it…..it’s next to Gepetto’s ‘parents’.Triton’s Trident is by the door….
Near where the mirror is, it looks like demon hunter tools…..not sure what they are, though 🙂

Some religions believe the Holy Grail is the cup used by Jesus at the Last Supper.
Alchemists believe the Holy Grail is really the Philosopher’s Stone, because it is said to grant eternal life.
And, still, others believe the Holy Grail are people….actual descendents of Jesus Christ, who still walk the Earth, today.
What the Holy Grail actually is, is a controversial subject disputed between religions, so, I’m not sure they would go there.

Though the show does work on the premise that these stories aren’t really fiction, and are actually historical events from another land, but still, I dunno that they’d go there.
I think that having a cup in Rumple’s castle that resembles the Holy Grail, and having Lancelot mention a cup that grants eternal life, is enough of a nod to the legend of it, without them having to get specific about it. In Skin Deep the symbolism of it worked, because it illustrated just how sacred Rumple considered Chip to be, that it could take the place of the Holy Grail. In Lady of the Lake we had the guy who famously went on the quest for the Holy Grail, giving Snow a cup to drink from that would make it possible for her to have a child, so the theme of it fit perfectly. But I dunno that we’ll ever see anyone on the show specifically mention the Holy Grail by name.

-FTL
-Wonderland
-Oz
-Neverland
-Land of Doctor Frankenstein
-Our Worldthat’s not a lot of doors covered.
also we do see many other trinkets, or hear mention of them. mostly we discover them through Rumpel/Gold but all the little details, i want to discuss, as it helps secure the thoughts of future seasons and new plot theories
