It could create some lovely drama if he gets taken in for questioning over Tamara, because that would inevitably lead to them charging him over the watches crime. So they’d be able to hold him in custody for the watches, while they keep digging around, trying to investigate Tamara’s disappearance and connect him to that as well. And no good can come from real world law enforcement trying to investigate the disappearance of a woman who went to visit her fiancee in a town full of magic and fairytale people, then jumped down a beanhole portal to NL and was killed by Pan’s minions. So they’d have to figure out a way to get Neal outta there, and protect SB from the nosy FBI.
Things could get interesting in season 3.2 if this is the direction they’re gonna go in.

Or they are not in OUR NYC at all but some parallel version, but not flash sideways. A different version like Alice’s Victorian London.

November 19, 2013 at 7:48 am #225023TheWatcherParticipantHeh, after this take of Peter Pan I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out the Wicked Witches were misunderstood and the Wizard is the real villain in ONCE’s version of the tale!
“The Witches Of Oz” took place in New York 😀 it involed the wicked witch wanting to take over the realms (She named Narnia, Camelot, and Shangrala as places she wanted to take over), and plus its a Disney film (I THINK) so it could (POSSIBLY) appear on Once. Plus the actor who played Greg/Owen was in it.

Both stories involve OZ connection from NY. I feel it might lead into more of Neal’s backstory and the device of having him in jail creates urgency that cannot be resolved with magic too easily. It brings back in the grounding feeling of being in the real world that to some extent this last half season lacked but which was part of the charm of S1 (that you had these fantasy characters in a small town).
I don’t think they’ll do the Splash /ET FBI threat again outright sort of thing but who knows.

They only touched on it barely in Once. Explaining what would happen if the world finds out about magic is going to happen someday. I never thought they would do it in TrueBlood, but they did. Humans finally became a real threat for them for the vampires, and what a big threat they were.

If he was inside, then they have another set that is dressed to be a NYC police station because they wouldn’t use the building in question.
I do think this is a set up to Oz. And maybe Phee was right all along, Grandma = Dorothy.

I didn’t see this theory posted yet but what if when Neal goes back to NYC to get his things, he’s nabbed for stealing Tamara’s car (driving it back there would be a logical way for him to get around since he apparently doesn’t have a car of his own) and they also start questioning him about her disappearance which escalates things from there and requires the others to come help him out? We have no idea if that car is in both of their names or only in her name so without her being there to confirm it, they could easily nab him for stealing the car and then find out about Tamara being gone. Hmmm, lots to think about with this theory but it does have legs and it could be where they’re going with things. Why would they do this though? What does the potion have to do with anything? How does everyone leave SB? Why is Emma wearing those horrible plaid pants? Geesh, I have no clue aside from my ‘Neal Has to Be the Punching Bag Character’ comment which they seem to be stuck on. Poor guy. 🙁

I think that sounds perfectly logical. I think many of us more or less expected Tamara to be swept under the rug once they killed her. But in our world when people go missing they investigate. So this is a very “real” world problem for our heroes to solve coupled with whatever magical thing is happening.

Phee suggested this some place else and I think it’s pretty sound but maybe the potion is to help Emma break into the jail and get Neal out (invisibility, shirinking, ect)
The plaid pants confuse me.

Phee will legit fall out of her chair if that crackpot theory ends up proving true. 😆

I was thinking before about the car, actually. If anyone who knew her had reported her missing, they’d have noticed her car was missing by now as well. So the cops would likely be watching for her car, and also watching Neal’s apartment in case he comes back.
Of course, we dunno how many people Tamara knew, and if she’d have told those people that she was leaving to go to SB to see Neal, (probably unlikely, considering what she was really going to SB for. If she told anyone anything it was probably, “Just leaving town for a few days with Neal.” Unless it was family, who is also involved in THO, who she didn’t have to keep secrets from). Either way though, whether she told anyone she was leaving town or not, if she’s been reported as missing, Neal’s the guy they’d be keeping an eye out for.
And if they wanna be realistic about it, if the cops are actively investigating Neal, watching for him, researching him to try and find him, they’re gonna discover that there’s no record of the guy having ever been born. Which could prompt some problematic questions that could end up affecting everyone from FTL.
