Looks to me just like someone’s (probably August) holding it and looking at it, not actually showing it to anyone.

If he was Bae, he wouldn’t need the picture. Bae knew what the dagger looked like. Only a person who hadn’t seen the dagger before would need the picture to recognise it.Good point! That fits with the new theory I’m working on that Blue Fairy saved Pinocchio from the curse, and sent this picture of the dagger with him, so that one day he’d be able to track it down to use it against Rumple.

So she will probably find out about its existence. But about Pinocchio I’m just not sure. I mean, Pinocchio was a small kid when the curse was enacted. How would the fairy explain to him what she wants him to do in the future and why. And why would he be determined to do it many years later. I just can’t see the connection between Pinocchio and Rumple yet. But maybe it will be revealed in the next episode.
The problem with August’s identity is that the creators said that one of the theories floating around is true and they themselves excluded some of them. So there aren’t many left.I like the Pinocchio theory myself, but even it’s problematic for two reasons. 1) Regina thought he looked familiar (could be a red herring) and 2) Not until the very last moment was it decided that Emma would go through, originally it was supposed to be Snow and she wouldn’t have needed Pinnochio.
I’m still excited to find out who he is though, quite possibly he’s just the 7 year old who found her. Maybe the 7 year-old (not August, someone we’ve not yet met) is Henry’s father to be revealed at a later date.
EDIT ● Actually, that whole Regina line “He looks familiar” could be a nod to Covert Affairs for which they both appeared. I’m still thinking he’s Pinocchio (until proven wrong.)
I still can’t shake the feeling that August is actually there to help Mr. Gold. I think he wants to return the dagger to him. I think the episode will lead us to believe that August is there to kill Mr. Gold, but at the very end of the episode it’ll be revealed that he’s actualy there to return the dagger to him.

I like this theory. We’ve yet to see Mr. Gold and August in a scene together and I think that’s for a reason. Maybe Mr. Gold thinks August is going to kill him because he has the dagger, but then the writers will throw a curve ball at us and August will actually return the dagger to him.
…or at least hope he does. 😆
OMG!!! GUYS!!! Someone on Tumblr just pointed out a very improtant detail. One of the stills from episode 1×19 “The Return” shows Bae with an injured knee. This might explain why August was having so much leg trouble in last week's episode.
Here’s the link to the photo:Has anyone noticed that the blue clip at the beginning of each episode shows a character who will be prominant in that episode? The clip at the beginning of ‘the return’ shows a UNICORN running! So maybe the returning character is Maleficient!!
Okay…here is something that just came to my mind. I have always thought that Bae made a deal with his dad that he would stay little until his dad broke the curse. This turned him into Peter Pan…then maybe when the EQ inacted the curse it took Peter Pans ability to stay young away and he started growing up and was transported to our world with everyone else hence why August is olser than Bae was. It is far fetched but a possibility.
