Henry (Jared Gilmore) just like WALT in LOST is going to get older and older in real life ..Walt was written off the show since no one else aged and he would have looked out of place .. Henry is supposed to be 10 and if the show runs for 5 or 6 seasons he will no longer look like a 10 year old….. The clock has started in Storybrooke and he will age and “NEW” technology will be introduced season by season and his growing up and aging in real life will not be a problem

Good thoughts. Jeremy had speculated something similar. Since everything in the modern world seems to be happening in 2007, Jeremy pointed out that it gives Henry a chance to age over seasons and a chance for the writers to jump ahead a couple years when Henry’s appearance needs it.

By the way, I moved this from off-topic to Once Upon a Time general and clarified the purpose of the off-topic forum.

Actually, whereas in “Lost” an entire season could span just a month or a week, “Once” doesn’t seem to be moving much slower in the story than we are in our time. For example, the next episode takes place around Valentine’s Day, which is when it will air. If Jared Gilmore continues to play Henry, that would actually stop them from jumping too far ahead in the story … unless Henry is somewhere else ….

Why are we assuming SB is in 2007?? Things seem much older to me than that. The old NOKIA phone is more 2002. What else were you the giveaways??

I think the reason that it is assumed that it is 2007 is that Emma was pregnant at 16 or 17 and had Henry when she was 17. Emma was arrested in June of 1996 so ten years from that date would be 2007 where Emma would be 28.

In the newspaper where they talk about Emma getting arrested and having Henry in jail they mention the date June 16, 2006 as the date of the crime that Emma committed and at that time she was already pregnant with Henry.

And here is a link to where the podcasters wrote out the text of the newspaper.

While this topic is active again, its worth pointing out that it has become clear Storybrooke isn’t taking place as quickly as the episodes air, since we discovered that everything from What Happened to Frederick through the start of Stable Boy happened within one week. Which if it keeps going like that for long enough could potentially solve any problems with time jumps and Jared I guess.
