Once Kill Counts

I know it’s all kind of sad panda around this place now that the show and the podcast has ended, but this is a project a friend (Linda M) and I worked on during a Once re-watch a couple of seasons back. We basically went through every character named or otherwise who gets killed in Once and tried to count them and find out who is the deadliest character in Once. The results were hardly surprising with Regina at #1 (though Goethal managed to pass her in only one season) and Emma/Henry last with only 1 kill each (grown up Henry in season seven killed a guard/soldier guy).

We had a few ground rules like ogres don’t count either in their natural state or as magically squishable bugs. In terms of the various battles the characters partake in – a sword thrust or an arrow through the gut counts as a kill, but a knock on the head or a glancing blow doesn’t count. ‘Deaths’ in UNderbrook didn’t count because they were already dead and the deaths had to either occur on screen or be reasonably confirmed on screen. Things like villages being burned were hard to count so we counted them separately in a sort of mass murder file which only three characters managed to enter.

I know what you’re thinking…this was probably a waste of time. But it was a fun waste and we loved Once. So without further nattering here is the list.
