I vote for figurine of Rumple for my shelf or Regina in a cool costume. I kinda want stories about the lesser known characters like Whale, Jefferson, Maybe king midas’ backstory! 🙂

March 21, 2013 at 7:36 pm #181393obisgirlParticipantI think I found the page for it on Amazon.
No thumbnail image yet, but I still added it to my wish list.
March 21, 2013 at 10:52 pm #181477MysteryKat25ParticipantThe abc site has the first chapter preview…I was really excited until I saw that. Not sure how I feel about it now. Seems like a lot of the stuff could have taken quotes right from the show and instead the “quotes” were paraphrasing from actions we’ve actually seen on screen. I feel like if they were going to tie it into the show they’d have been allowed to use the actual quotes….it just seems weird to me. Looking forward to seeing what others think.

March 22, 2013 at 2:20 am #181550andreth starkParticipantI’ve just read the chapter preview… I found it better than expected! I mean, i usually don’t like novelizations, since they tend to be a bit superficial. There are 3 things that would make me buy the novels -if i could- after reading the preview:
1.- It is the same story we watched in tv, exactly the same story, but adding some insight to the characters. It could be seen as a repetition, or as the waste of a chance to tell things that have not been told in the series… but i think it is a good start. It could be just me, but i like the story, and i like the characters, and i’m glad to have a chance to “develop my own characterization” of the characters i love. Of course i’ll always associate some details of the look or manierisms of the actors to them, but it is like…mmm… i don’t know, just that it would be weird to me watch, let’s say,The full monty, and think, “wait, is that a young stripper Rumple?”,or avoid disturbings thoughts as “Was Emma’s first job being part Dr. House’s team?”. Maybe just me, but i like this point: characters in my mind 😛
2.- I like the way the author uses the style. Emma’s PoV is quick, direct, contemporary. The sort of discourse you can find in a tale writen nowadays. While EF scenes are more like an overview, they are writen from SW PoV,.and still, are more impersonal,we are not inside SW. That is great, because you can feel the difference of time, place, world… just by read a couple of lines.
3.- This is more a wish; if the first book gets good results, they’d probably go deeper into the story, write details, develop secondary plots, or even new ones, give us different PoVs… i guess. i hope.
Sooo… if i find some way to buy it from Iceland, i’m doing it ^^
March 22, 2013 at 2:36 am #181555RumplesGirlKeymasterI’m torn. On the one hand, it’s great to get inside the characters head. On the other, having watched these episodes so many times, I’m bothered that they didn’t use the exact script because I can also hear exactly what they said the fist time.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 22, 2013 at 3:00 am #181559MysteryKat25ParticipantThat’s been basically my problem with with RumplesGirl – the quotes are all wrong and I know what they’re supposed to be and can hear it so I found it very distracting…

March 22, 2013 at 3:07 am #181562obisgirlParticipantThere might have been some copyright issues involved. Maybe that’s why we’re not seeing exactly what was said in the pilot.
March 22, 2013 at 3:27 am #181571MysteryKat25ParticipantThat’s presumably what the issue is but it feels weird to OK merchandising that isn’t exactly correct stuff…I think it could have been really well done and as long as everything was approved it could have been great and official and more of a collector’s item…now I just don’t know what to think. I’d hate to read it and be silently screaming the whole time about how wrong it has everything. It may be a nice refresher course between seasons to have a book out after each season, I just feel like it had so much potential to truly be that and instead I just find myself wanting to throw something for the quotes being all wrong!
I’m sure some will love it but perhaps not those who have spent a crazy amount of time rewatching / dissecting everything to the point that we know instantly the quotes are wrong. Not only are they wrong the rhythm was way off and it just didn’t *sound* like things any of the characters would say (to me, just my opinion).
I’m happy for anybody who does love them and I may give them a chance at some point but I couldn’t get through the first bit without getting annoyed. It just made me feel like I was watching a movie destroy a book…only backwards!

March 22, 2013 at 3:32 am #181574obisgirlParticipantmaybe it’s just the first book. If they’re going to do the whole first season, that’s a lot of books for one author to tackle. They could have multiple writers working on each book.
Not everyone writes the same way. The next one could follow episode 2 directly. for example, since episode 2 is about enacting the curse and we know it took Regina about 9 months to do that, we didn’t get to see all her failed attempts.
