Favorite episode: The Queen of Hearts
Honorable Mentions: The Crocodile, Tallahassee, Manhattan, Welcome to Storybrooke, Selfless, Brave and True
Favorite Character Introduced: Mulan
Honorable Mentions: Hook, Dr. Whale, Tamara, Neal
Favorite Moment: Cora can’t pull out Emma’s heart and Emma says “Love isn’t weakness. It’s strength.”
Honorable Mentions: Rumple kills Milah and takes off Hook’s hand, Emma runs into Neal in Manhattan, Regina lets Owen go, Cora looks genuinely happy to see her daughter Regina after her heart is put back in her body just before she dies, Tamara and Greg kiss revealing Tamara was “her” on his phone, Emma kicking Tamara’s butt and then losing Neal in the portal
I loved Neal being Baelfire. I also loved Hook in season 2…and into season 3a.
I also liked the reveal of who Dr. Whale was. I thought it was clever.
The neverland thing did feel rushed. However, I thought there was only so much they could do with Cora and I think her story could have dragged if they kept her arc for the whole season. What I would have actually liked was if they explored who the Dragon was, and have that tie in to the real world actually being a threat to take down magic in storybrooke. I still think we could get something like this in the final season. Hopefully there is some final battle in either storybrooke or EF.
And after looking back on this season, although there were some bumps and fillers, (child of the moon cough), I think I can appreciate it more. It says just how far the show has fallen.

Congrats. You might be the only person in the entire fandom who doesn’t rank SB and T down towards the very bottom of the entire series. Though, looking back it wasn’t as bad some other episodes. It was once my #1 least favorite episode; now it’s like…5 o r 6?

What’s funny is, it reminded me of Lost. Don’t remember why. But it felt like a Lost feeling, and I was intrigued by Tamara at the time, and I enjoyed her interactions with August and The Dragon. At the time, I assumed the taser was magical. When we find out that it’s just a taser, well that was a let down.

It wasn’t that bad, it wasn’t even the worst episode in the season, Tiny and The Evil Queen were worse. SB&T at least had characters dealing with mistakes they made. Unlike now when everything is swept under the rug.

I enjoyed the non-Tiny bits of “Tiny” (the airport scenes mostly)
The Evil Queen never bothered me much. It just confirmed, for me, that Regina really was an absolutely horrid villain.
SB and T set up a lot of things and then never really dealt with them–like Tamara and the Dragon.

A lot of “stall” episodes. In other words, the episode or episodes that came right after those were far more important but to stretch the narrative to 22 episodes per season, they had to insert episodes that barely moved the plot forward.

Well exactly. And this was the reason why I was kinda down on season 2. So many great parts, but some really dragged. And this was why I was so much in favor of doing the half season arcs. And after Season 3a and how it ended, I was REALLY on board. But somewhere along the road since then, they have lost their way in character development due to their fascination with sparkly new toys. You can still keep the overarching arc prominent in half seasons. But for them, it’s like a clean slate each time, and it doesn’t have to be that. It also doesn’t help that they keep switching their minds at the end of these arcs all the time and it’s painfully obvious to the conscientious observer. I honestly hope for a 22 episode non half season, like 1 and 2, for their final season, season 6. If they get that season.

I think the fillers are needed to allow characters to breath, react to what’s happening and be fleshed out. I don’t think that every episode needs to have the OMG moments.
