Maybe this is just me, but I really don’t think a younger Maleficent/Cruella/whoever makes that much sense. The show does flashbacks nearly every episode, seeing younger versions of the QOD (whether so young as to cast another actress or not) would not be a surprise, it’s expected by, and I can’t say I’d understand why they’d keep the identity and even which episodes Agnes is appearing in a secret if she was just a younger QOD. Older Lily would make more sense but count me in the camp that would be extremely disappointed in them if they really whitewashed her with age like that.I’m all over Bruckner-as-Black Fairy setting her up for the next arc. Let’s go with that one. For once I’m not the only one saying Black Fairy Morgana. This is a pleasant surprise.

Well, my complaint is less about the fact that she doesn’t resemble Lily’s younger self it’s that they took an established POC character and made her white.
Which is why I don’t think she’s grown up Lilly. I said it before, casting and matching up younger actors with their adult counter parts tend to be pretty spot on and ‘perfect casting.’ I would not consider this perfect casting if she is indeed adult Lilly.
I’m going with she is either a young Maleficent, Aurora’s mom or The Black Fairy.
Plus, we don’t know anything really concrete about who she is playing. No behind the scenes pictures, which would typically tell us so much more than favoriting a tweet. I think most of us knew when we saw Rebecca Mader’s behind the scenes pics that she was playing The Wicked Witch.

It’d make sense to start leading us into the S5 Villain around 3×20-3×22, which would mean that the Queens of Darkness and Rumple should all be settled by 3×20, much like how Zelena was.
I think if Rumple still wants to go ahead with his whole Sorcerer’s Hat thing…he may just accidently unleash the darkest thing possible into Storybrooke…aka, Black Fairy.

Yet Bruckner seems to perfectly fit a casting call that recently went out for the role of “Autumn,” a charismatic and fiercely independent woman who “easily wraps others into her schemes.” Yet despite her “penchant for troublemaking,” the casting notice reads, “Autumn” “just wants to be loved.” Alas, her misguided methods typically wind up alienating those she loves most.

I’m going with Meg from Hercules!!
Just wants to be loved = I won’t say I’m in love
Brunette, check
Penchant for troublemaking!
That is good!
If she is Meg, then theoretically Hades would be the next logical step in some form.
Hades as not played by James Wood… I don’t know.
I’m pretty sure James Woods had it put into his contract that Disney has to offer him the role of Hades, whenever he’s available. He loves playing the role that much.

I am irritated that it is another character who possibly turned evil due to being misunderstood or unloved (or both) in the past.
Sigh.

Here’s the thing though. The general view of the villains on the show is that “Evil isn’t born, it’s made” therefore every villain on the show is going to have a reason for why they are the way they are. How far these reasons are explored or whether or not you feel sympathy for the villains is up to individual interpretation but they’re not going to have a character be evil “just because they’re evil”.

Pan wasn’t evil for the sake of evil, his reasons just weren’t explored to the extent that Regina’s, Rumple’s, Cora’s, Zelena’s, Ingrid’s, etc were explored. Pan was still a selfish person though and but his own wants and needs above anybody else including his own son but he didn’t just wake up and go “hey, I’m going to be evil today”.

Keeper of FelixFebruary 14, 2015 at 9:33 pm #296014onceaholicParticipantI think you guys have misunderstood me.
My complaint was the reasons for turning evil.
How about some other reasons for turning evil, like the loss of a child? Or something else again?
If the loss of a child is not appropriate for Agnes’ character, then surely the writers have the imagine to think of another cause that is not about being or feeling unloved?
I realise that emotional abuse and/or neglect leads to boarderline personality disorder, and often extreme enough to kill, but there are other causes (and personality disorders!) out there.
(I am glad that they did narcissism with Peter Pan, though).

February 16, 2015 at 7:22 pm #296097Jenna_BParticipantI don’t think it’s Lily just because I think the audience made more out of the character than was intended. Not young Mal either…I don’t think Kristin looks particularly young but Agnes still seems a little old to be brought in for Mal. Maybe Cruella…
