With Once Upon a Time Season 2 on hiatus, we’ve found ourselves absorbed in picking over every spoiler, trying to figure out what’s going to happen in the finale. It hasn’t been easy, though. The cast and crew have been pretty good at keeping the details of the last four episodes under wraps. However, we do know one thing — Rumplestiltskin and Neal’s relationship “changes forever” because of something that happens in Episode 21 or 22.
Of course, there’s no hint about whether that change is a positive or negative, but we can’t help but speculate anyway. We have no idea if any of our theories are on point, but we’re going to throw them out there. Then we want to hear your thoughts!
Warning: This article contains references to behind-the-scenes set videos and pictures, so stop reading now if you want to be completely spoiler-free.
Henry’s kidnapping. A new finale set video makes it pretty clear that Greg and Tamara kidnap Henry. Rumple’s reaction to that could end up being a game changer for Neal. If Rumple steps up to save Henry — especially if he risks his own life in the process — that could make Neal much more willing to give him another chance. On the other hand, if Rumple expresses disinterest (or actively tries to stop people from rescuing Henry) that could be the last straw for them.
Rumple tries to hurt Henry. We can’t forget the prophecy; if Rumple has a hand in hurting Henry to protect himself (perhaps he’s involved with the kidnapping?), there’s no way in hell Nealfire would ever, ever forgive him. We really hope the writers don’t go in this direction, though. Rumple is a villain, but one of his primary character traits is love for his son. It’s unclear if he cares about Henry, but we can’t imagine him actually going through with hurting Neafirel’s child, prophecy or no.
Neafire finds out about Milah. Does Neafirel know that Rumple killed his mom? We assume not, because otherwise he’d have brought it up by now. With Hook in the mix, it’s easy to see how that little detail could come out, and we have a feeling that Nealfire might not take it well.
Neafire turns into a child. This is another one we don’t want to see, but we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Dylan Schmid, a.k.a. Young Baelfire, has been spotted back on set. We’re guessing that’s just for flashbacks, but it’s possible that Nealfire will pull and August and wind up being turned back into a boy somehow. It goes without saying that things would change if that happens.
Rumpel vs. Tamara. With Tamara in the mix, we have to wonder if she might factor into whatever the big change is. If Rumple gets wind of her ill intentions before Neal does, that could lead to some serious complications, depending on Rumple’s reaction.

Some thoughts
1) I keep going back to the quote Bobby gave where he said (paraphrasing): the relationship between Rumple and Bae isn’t good BUT there is a gamechanger in the season finale. Do I think Rumple will entertain the idea of hurting Henry or sending him away? Yes of course. He is Rumple after all. Do I think he’ll follow through? I do not. I think his good side will win out.2) While I think the relationship between Bae and Rumple will change for the better in the finale, it will be short lived as Bae is going to have to learn about Milah very soon. Especially since I expect a lot of Bae and Hook interaction in S3.
3) I think MRJ has been a great addition this season and there is no way they’d turn him into a little boy again. Dylan is around for flashbacks (and probably will keep reappearing in flashbacks since I expect a chunk of S3 will be the Pan story, whether or not Nealfire is Pan or not)
4) Tamara is the big bad for the rest of this season, I do believe that. I think it’s going to come down to many enemies (Rumple, Hook, Regina) coming together with the good guys to protect Henry and themselves. They may all hate each other but I think they will come together to protect their lands, their magic and Henry.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 5, 2013 at 4:28 pm #184568HappyEndingsSpectator1. I think Gold will follow through on Henry – Gold/Rumble only thinks of himself
2. Turning into a little boy no because that would be odd Bae being about the same age as his son Henry.
3. I think Hook will tell Bae what happened to his mom.
4. As for teaming up against Tamara – I don’t think Hook would be involved. Hope, we get to see when Emma or who ever tells Regina that Henry is Gold’s grandson. I hope they just don’t drop that little fact as it would be very interesting as to what would Regain do still go after Gold for killing her mother too or what?
