KeymasterIt occurred to me that we don’t have a reaction thread for the first half of OnceWonderland (101-108)
Everyone play along! I think Daniel plans to have a podcast on WL and I need stuff to talk about from the forums. 🙂
So answer any/all of these questions or just give your general reaction to the season.
1) Favorite episode (or 2)
2) Least favorite episode (or 2)
3) Favorite Character(s)
4) Favorite moments?
5) Over all reaction to the season so far

KeymasterHere are my thoughts
1) Favorite episode: Bad Blood and The Serpent. Jafar’s story is by far my favorite. I find him really interesting.
2) Least Favorite episode: Heart of Stone and Forget Me Knot. These just fell really flat for me. I find myself really annoyed with the Red Queen, especially in the beginning.
3) Favorite Character: Jafar! Then the Knave and the Rabbit. (I do love the bunny and his hat)
4) Alice using her second wish to save her father was really moving; I also really love that Jafar’s reasons for wanting to break the rules of magic have nothing to do with wanting power, but rather that he is a boy trying to win his father’s love. It’s very ONCE. Anytime Will speaks is pretty epic–love the word play
5) Overall it got a lot better as we went along. The first 3 episodes weren’t up to par like they needed to be in order to really hook me. But by the time we got to Who’s Alice? I thought we picked up a lot of steam and it was actually quite good.
**BONUS**
Favorite theory so far: Ana took Will’s heart in an effort to prove her loyalty to Cora, whom we will see eventually.

Participant1. Home. It was filled with action, love, and really good writing. I didn’t care much for the (unrelated) flashbacks, but I loved the episode in general.
2. Down The Rabbit Hole. I loved the 20-minute preview, but the episode felt like they were just trying to cram stuff in to use up the extra 23 minutes (minus commercials). Also, I hate how they reshot some good scenes.
3. Will Scarlet, without a doubt. If WL (probably) ends up being canceled, I really hope they bring him over to the main show.
4. When Alice stopped herself from killing the Red Queen. It really proved to be a big character moment for her, showing how she wouldn’t go down the dark path no matter what Anastasia did to her (something another certain princess went down…)
5. Out of a 1-10 rating, I would rate it a 6.5/10. Sure, they didn’t have the best writing, but overall I liked the plot and the development of the characters. Can’t wait for S1B!
Edit – Bonuses:
Least Favorite Character: The Red Queen. She got better as we went along, but she was extremely annoying and her accent bugged me. Also, the lips kind of put me off, especially when her lipstick didn’t match her outfits at times (like when she had pink lipstick and red dresses. The contrast was annoyingly noticeable).
What I Want To See: The rabbit and Rumple or Jefferson bickering over portals. Oh, and how Cora fits into Alice’s story!
My Own Theory: Jefferson got his hat from the White Rabbit.
Keeper of Thor’s Hammer, Will Scarlet’s Genie Bottle, Emma’s Gun, Emma and Henry’s Moment at the Castle, Cora, and the infamous Family Tree!

Participant1) Favorite episode (or 2) – Bad Blood. Â Once again, Wonderland does not disappoint with the daddy issues. Â I thought Rumple’s dad and Cora were bad, but nope, the Sultan is worse and the episode as a whole, made Jafar more sympathetic. He’s not after ultimate power, but getting his father to love and respect him. Â That’s all he wants. Â Thank you Adam and Eddie for not writing Jafar as your stereotypical villain.
2) Least favorite episode (or 2) – Who’s Alice. I think I enjoyed seeing the flashbacks, learning more about Alice’s relationship with her father, why she ended up in the asylum then what was going on in the present.
3) Favorite Character(s) – Without a doubt, Will. Â I wasn’t expecting him to my favorite. Â I thought I would gravitate towards liking Cyrus more because he was the romantic love interest, but I love Will’s sass and his commentary on stuff.
4) Favorite moments? When Alice’s dad confessed to Alice that he wasn’t the best dad in the world, and she deserves to have happiness in her life and the one thing he can give her, to help find that happiness, was the secret that Cyrus is alive. Â That was really beautiful.
5) Over all reaction to the season so far – Â I love it. Â I can’t wait for the series to come back.

ParticipantWonderland for me started out slow, but enjoyable. It seemed to get better & better. The last 3 episodes really picked up. Â “Home” was my favorite just because it left me really wanting to see the rest of the story.
I think I am in the minority, but I really like the Red Queen & Will together. I think we all make mistakes in our relationships & wish we could have a redo. We think money or power will fill that hole in our hearts, but it isn’t enough. Â I think it speaks volumes to how much Will loved her that he couldn’t bear to put his own heart back in.
I am also really interested to see Cyrus’ past & how he got to be a genie. I also loved Cyrus & Alice together by the end of the season.
Jafar is definitely one of the best villains ever! I can’t wait to see more!

Moderator1) Favorite episode: Bad Blood. Written by Skin Deep’s Jane Espenson, it did not disappoint. I loved learning more about Jafar’s tragic backstory and his motivation, Jafar pretending to be Alice’s father, and Alice’s father’s entire speech to Alice about how he should have believed her.
2) Least favorite episode: Who’s Alice. While it was nice to see more of Alice’s backstory, this episode just felt flat. I think what really killed it for me was the whole Borogrove subplot, where Alice was hypnotized by the plant to forget about Cyrus. That was just…so boring and total filler, hence Daniel’s joke about “Borogrove” on the podcast.
3) Favorite Character: Bloody ‘ell, I gotta go with Will, AKA the Knave of Hearts. This thief with a heart of gold is quite the show-stealer.
4) Favorite moments?: “I’m gonna die like a bloody smore.”, the entire exchange about the Knave being “stoned”, Edwin’s speech about how he should have believed Alice, and the decapitated Tweedle telling the Red Queen “I think he’s on to us…”
5) Overall reaction to the season so far: It started out fairly rough and its still not as good as the parent series, but it has its own charm to it. It’s a fun little spinoff that adds to the mythology of our beloved Onceverse.
