    I’ve just had a thought. In ‘Broken’ Emma got the hat working with her touch. Rumple also tells her that she is the ‘product of the magic’, so i dont think it means she HAS magic but she IS magic.
    In order to open the portal, Cora might need Emma to open it such as with her touch. Because the ashes may not be enough.
    Also the producers said that Emma’s touch to get the hat working will come up again – this could be the moment.

    It just seems to simple to just get the compass and use the ashes.. there has to be something else to it.

    I really like that idea and I hope it happens. I’ve been waiting all season for her magic to come up again and just before the break seems like a good time.

    I’m thinking there is a chance her touch could revive the Giant’s dead magic bean. She didn’t touch it, but she easily could have. I want to think her touch would have the same effect it had on Jefferson’s hat.

    I don’t think that magic can revive something that was already dead. This has been stated before. The reason the hat worked because it still had some magic left after the used and because SB at that time have already consumed with magic brought from the purple smoke.

    While Emma might not be able to revive a magical bean which is dead, she could very well revive a magical bean-making device, which could be what Hook is holding here in the promo still for 2×8. Maybe Hook will double-cross Cora, team up with Emma, and she’ll be able to magically fix the device to make a magical bean that opens a portal to SB.

    That’s his thumb. And i think that is the strap of the thing Cora was holding.

    I wasn’t suggesting that Hook’s thumb was anything other than his thumb. As for the object in his hand, it looks to be carved and wooden, rather than the handle to a leather satchel. I could be wrong, but that’s what it looks like to me.
