When Emma and Henry are deciding the new name for the operation, Emma immediately jumps on “Operation Tiger”. Whether intentional or not, this could be a reference to Tiger Lily in the Peter Pan fairy tales, and relate to the theory of Tamara being Tiger Lily.

I was going to post this before the full reactions, but I forgot it amongst all the other theories in the initial reactions… :L Oh well, better late than never.

Oh that’s a good catch…..I don’t think Tamara is actually Tiger Lily because of an interview where A&E said she doesn’t have a FTL identity but sometimes they do nods to things. Now that I think about it though, did they say Tamara is a real world person only or that she doesn’t have a specifically FTL identity? That could leave open a Neverland identity for her perhaps.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

Hmm. Never thought about Tiger Lily as a nod to the code name. Each time Emma has suggested a code name for the project it 1) gets shot down my Henry and 2) has something to do with the story being told that episode. Remember she wanted to be “Pumpkin” in The Price of Gold which was Cinderella’s story? But Henry shot that idea down.

While I don’t think Tamara is Tiger Lily, it could be a nod to NL which I’m 99.9% sure we’re going to!

I heard someone say (I think it was the couple who does Once Upon A Time Fan Podcast) that the operation names could have been a nod towards Kung Fu Panda which is a Dreamworks movie, but still.

    Operation Tiger
    Operation Praying Mantas

which are both characters in that movie.

Could just be a coindidence though being that Kung Fu Panda is definitely not a disney movie.

I think it is a great idea. It is like “your father was a fireman.”
Only this time it is not so obvious.

I would be 100% but then A and E will go and do something like, “Ha! You thought we were going to Neverland! False…we’re going to *insert random land that no one has ever heard of here*”

Maybe it’s because they have the tiger by the tail? The Charmings & Co think they have a handle on the situation, but it’s far more dangerous than they realize.

tiara_rose: It took me a minute but then I had a “oh. ahaha. ha. ha.” moment.

I’m not sure about the Kung fu panda association….but I’ve always noticed how the names of the operations reflect the names of military operations of the U.S throughout history.
If you just do a google search for ‘operation cobra’ it will give you info about the D-Day invasion of Normandy, etc.
Also, Operation Praying Mantis was the name given to the U.S attack in Iran in the late 1980s.
Operation Tiger was the rehearsal for the invasion of Normandy.

I have no idea how these nods to historical events have meaning for the plot or characters …but I definitely think the operation names have been modelled off these events because it’s too much of a coincidence that they are all operations carried out by the American army …some being related to each other like Operation Cobra and Operation Tiger.

Sarah 3. This is a good thought.
Operation Cobra was to end the war of position. (Break the curse and let the time flow in Storybrook)
Operation Praying Mantis and Tiger are both sea manovers (their spoiler picture of erveryone on Hooks ship and Henry is also kidnapped by goat on a ship)
