I was checking my tumblr and happened to this post:

For anyone interested, I have uploaded the casting sides of Belle for 1.12 Skin Deep. It’s the only one I have for the episode, but it’s very interesting (or it was in any case when I got it way before the episode aired). I figure that since the season ended and the episode aired a good awhile ago there would be no problem posting them.
I think Belle/Rumple fans will appreciate it as it has some cute/canon/official descriptions of their feelings. Nothing major, but still an interesting read, specially because it seems to be one of the scenes that was cut from the episode.
I’ve already read through it, 9 pages, detailing Belle & Rumpelstiltskin’s scenes at the Dark Castle.
Some interesting bits I noticed:
I always thought that the scene where Belle pulled down the curtains and the one after that was a continuation of the same scene, but that scene is described as many months since the falling from the that event. That was spring but probably, when we see Belle and Rumpel again — maybe its summer?
Some of the dialogue is the same, but there's an extra scene leading up Belle asking Rumpel about his son where she asks him about the various objects we see around the Dining room.
There are also really funny cussing to describe certain actions (like Rumpel transforming back into a human after Belle kisses him.) I re-read that a few times and could not stop 😆 😆 reading it.
There's also a quick cut to Gold at the pharmacy where he bumps into Charming but it doesn't go in depth.[adrotate group="5"]August 26, 2012 at 11:41 pm #153365midnight drearyParticipantThere’s also a scene where Belle looks at Rumpel lovingly, and Rumpel responds, “No has ever looked at me like that. Not even my wife.” So sweet. 😀

That says so much about the state of Rumple’s first marriage, his wife never looked at him with love. Which begs the question why they married in the first place? Perhaps his wife was already pregnant with Bae as a result of fooling around with some other guy so she married Rumple so that she wouldn’t be an unwed single mother. Maybe she didn’t even want Bae in the first place but because abortions weren’t available she had no choice. She was then stuck at home looking after Bae whilst Rumple was away at the ogre wars. When Rumple returned and was declared a coward, the wife just took off and left Rumple to look after Bae because she didn’t want either of them in the first place.

August 27, 2012 at 7:37 pm #153380PriceofMagicParticipantWould marriages have been arranged at that level? We know that the royals did it because it was convenient for the kingdoms (if Charming had wed Abigail, Midas would have given George gold for the kingdom) but Rumple didn’t look exactly well off.

A theory that just popped into my head is what if Rumple knew his wife was having an affair but his self esteem was so low that he pretended that he didn’t know. When his wife gets pregnant, she makes out the child is Rumple’s and he just goes along with it.

If we remember from “The Shepherd” James (or whatever his pre prince name was), his mother came to him and was talking about the daughter of the grain merchant who had a dowry that could save their farm. Marrying for love back then was a luxury a lot of couples didn’t have. It was always hoped that a daughter would marry into a better position in life, than what she had been born into…at least for the lower classes. For the upper classes it was pretty much the same idea, but aspired for royalty. The daughters of royals were pretty much seen as bargaining tools for forging alliances with other kingdoms.
Rumple could have had a “respectable”, but loveless marriage. If his wife’s parent’s didn’t approve of the match that could have been all she needed to push her into thinking she was in love with him (trust me I’ve seen it happen in my family). After living with him for a while she may have realized he wasn’t the person she thought he was. She could have married Rumple out of some sort of rebellious spirit. We don’t know what kind of person he was like before the Ogars war that he fought in. There’s a lot of story we don’t know still to piece together a picture of what happened.
