OTP Appreciation Thread (Non-OUAT)

Jagged Fel and Jaina Solo She’s the only daughter of Han and Leia and he’s a pilot with ties to Wedge Antilles (Jag is his nephew). I just loved their first meeting in the New Jedi Order, where he ignores meeting a bunch of political people, walks right up to her and he loves right away how Jaina’s a pilot and a Jedi. I just imagine Jaina had this goofy flattered grin on her face. It’s been a long time since I read the New Jedi Order (couldn’t keep up with the whole series), but I remember they sparred together at one point, ended up working closely together and then I read in wikipedia that they got married and I was like, I knew it!!!. Other ‘ship from that series I loved (this one is definitely a crack ‘ship), Jacen and Tahiri.

I love Jaina and  Jag too. I was in love in idea of Anakin Solo and Tahiri….I’m still mad about writers decision regarding Anakin Solo- I loved his charakter.

Riker/Troi on Star Trek the New Generation– I can’t even remember how it ends up with them officially, but I’ll always remember them as Imzadi.

I am WAY behind on threads here because I just don’t visit enough anymore but OMG, can we fangirl gush sometime about how much I also loved Riker and Troi on TNG????! LOVED THEM. Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes had amazing chemistry all the way around and I always wanted them together! They ended up getting married in one of the TNG movies (Nemesis, I think, was the one with the wedding) but I always loved and enjoyed their relationship and chemistry on the series. Seven years and a few movies later but we did get that ship to sail eventually!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀

Most of my ships haven’t been posted in here yet (unless they are and I’m just behind…I’m only on page five right now, LOL) but I’ll post them anyway because I do love them. Here are my top four of all time (well, as of today, LOL). 🙂

#1: Dawsey – Chicago Fire: Lt. Matt Casey and Gabriela Dawson have pretty much been set up since the freaking pilot episode to end up together and even though they’re having some issues this year (which has been SO heavy and sad overall that I’ve been begging the writers on Twitter for months to lighten up things a bit in the second half of the season), they are ABSOLUTELY destined to end up together for good and I know they’ll get through these current issues. Their characters have been intertwined and bonded from day one and quite frankly, I think Jesse Spencer and Monica Raymund have a gorgeous and very real chemistry together and this show runs a huge risk of honking off the majority of their fandom if they keep them apart too long. I LOVE THEM. <3 <3 <3

  

  

  

#2: Meredith & Derek – Grey’s Anatomy: Currently in flux as he’s living in DC while she’s still in Seattle but HOLY COW, talk about a couple that’s gone through everything! I’ve been through it all with these two and it’s a fascinating story to watch them live apart this year and try to fulfill each of their dreams while being in different places. They’ll be fine eventually although we know from experience that Shonda certainly knows how to write angst, LOL 😉

#3: Ross and Rachel – Friends: I love everyone on this show but I loved these two together right from the pilot. I can actually imagine them now still living in NYC with one or two more kids to keep Emma company and still loving the crap out of & making each other laugh every single day. I would watch the heck out of a series with just them and their kids experiencing life in NYC. 🙂

#4: Linstead – Chicago PD: Erin Lindsey and Jay Halstead are two of the detectives on this show and they are AWESOME and very hot together. This is a newer ship for me since CPD is only in it’s second season but these two are fantastic and of course, their road to being together is going to be unfair and slightly traumatizing (mainly because their boss, who is basically like Erin’s father figure, doesn’t want them together especially since they’re partners in their department) but I’m ready for all the twists and turns with them. 😀

  

I have other couples that I enjoy on TV but these are my current four favorite ships (yes, I know Ross & Rachel aren’t current but I’ve been watching lots of Friends on Netflix this year so let me live in my world where that show is still on the air, LOL) and hopefully this really long post didn’t bore you guys too much. 😉

d’Artagnan x constance from BBC’s The Musketeers. These two didn’t even realize that they were in love with each other for about a season and a half, in season one. They had a very short-lived romance after their first kiss and now, this season, Constance is working alongside Queen Anne and gets to see d’Artagnan almost every day and they can try to be friends, but honestly, looking a gifs of these, the whole trying to be friends thing is going to be a joke. They’re so in love with each other.

He’s impressed with her resourcefulness, her big heart, treats her as an equal and she genuinely loves him too.  She tried to help buy his way into a tournament, to help him become a musketeer.

So, there are complications keeping them apart at the moment. I have no doubt D’Artagnan wants to be with her but Constance is afraid. She is also married but I have every confidence the writers will find a happy ending for them.

Rewatching Vikings on History. If you haven’t seen the show–WATCH IT. It’s incredible. I love Ragnar and Lagertha. Heck, I just love Lagertha. Talk about the epitome of strong woman, and not just because she is a shield maiden.

OMG, how could I forget the ‘ship I loved on Smallville?!

I loved watching their relationship from season 7 until the end. (I thankfully missed the whole Clana thing). The series finale, I think was okay but the fact that 10 years later, they’re still not married because he’s too busy being Superman…why waste my time with the wedding nonsense in the two-hour finale?. And when Clark finally admitted to her secret, Lois pounces on him. Best. Clois Scene.

The thing that disappoints me nowadays with DC however is that Lois seems to be non-existent.  Clark in New 52 is too ‘super’ and ‘too good’ for mere mortals like Lois, that he’s in a relationship with Wonder Woman.  Listen, I love Wonder Woman too (I run a Wonder Woman fan blog) but why DC is it necessary to delete Lois Lane from comic book lore? She was no damsel in distress.  She’s tough. Without superpowers! 

Clois exists in Zack Snider’s universe but I still prefer Smallville’s Clois. I like Amy Adams but she just isn’t Lois to me. I like Henry though. Love Henry.

I’ve had awhile to really think about, okay, which soap opera couples are my all-time favorite? Which one stands out as number one that I will love forever?

The couple that took No. 1 for me is Shadam (Sharon & Adam from The Young and the Restless):

Sharon and Adam have a complicated history. All the families on Y&R are complicated. Basically, Adam is Victor Newman’s son with Hope and Sharon was once married to Victor’s other son (the so-called golden child) Nick but after Nick and Sharon’s daughter Cassie died, Nick emotionally shut down from the marriage and slept with Phyllis and conceived Summer. Sharon was dumped from the Newman family. (See, no where as complicated as Once!)

But what I love about Adam and Sharon, like couples on Once, they’re both flawed, broken people in their own way and deep down, just want to be loved and happy. All Adam wants is to be accepted and loved by his family. Everyone warned Sharon away from Adam in the beginning, but she didn’t listen to them and they fell in love, even married and even though they broke up, they were still drawn to each other and the chemistry between the actors, Sharon Case and Michael Muhney — HAWT!!!

What killed me the most about their relationship before Michael was fired from the show, was a line Sharon said to Adam, akin to CS, ‘they understand each other.’

Now Adam is back on the show but the role has been taken over by a new actor.  Which if Adam can’t win back Chelsea, I want to see what kind of chemistry exists between Justin Hartley (new Adam) and Sharon Case, to resurrect Shadam 2.0!

Erik & Ondina (Mako Mermaids Season 2!)

Okay so my Lyla/Zac seems to have officially sunk what with all the goings on with this season but atleast I can replace with these two love birds…love fish. The funny thing is I was so sure I would hate the both of them when I was reading through all the spoilers before the season came out  and yet I instantly loved them. I really want them to stay together and bridge the gap between the Mermen and Mermaids once more.
