After the darkness within Rumple (Robert Carlyle) was accidentally set free, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) decided to sacrifice herself for the town and become the new Dark One, aka Dark Swan. But the big question was where Emma disappeared to after being consumed, which appeared to be answered in a special sneak peek shown during the Comic-Con panel on Saturday.
In the Enchanted Forest — specifically what appeared to be the prison that used to house Rumplestiltskin — a peasant delivers food to the lone occupant: The Dark Swan. Sporting new duds and a sparkly face — though not quite as intense as what Rumplestiltskin has — Emma rips out her captor’s heart after he is shocked to see a beautiful woman. “They said you were a monster,” he said. “Only on the inside,” she spit back before crushing it.

Fresh from her trip to [wherever the heck she ended up in the season finale], new “Dark One” Jennifer Morrison was joined by her Once Upon a Time co-stars Saturday for the ABC drama’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where moderator Yvette Nicole Brown got everyone to ponder what the future might hold for each of their characters.

What even do they mean by that? Parallel to SB? It can’t be parallel to the EF, because Lancelot’s been in both places. Right? Thanks for keeping up with all the tweets, RG.

What I’m thinking is that the Camelot story is kind of always happening, if that makes sense? It exists in it’s own timeline, out-of-time with the rest of the realms, which is how a story that’s been told and recorded in so many different forms reaching further back than a vast majority of the Enchanted Forest population can have a definitive known “ending” (wherein most major players have suffered a rather final fate) yet still be living in the present day. It’s how Morgana can be Rumple’s mother and still Arthur’s sister, even though she’d have to have been around a couple centuries prior to current events. It’s how Lancelot can figure in to the present day story if he’s not just in flashbacks, seeing as how Cora’s (presumably) killed him – we met Lancelot at the end of the cycle, after being disgraced and forced to leave, but he still exists eternally in Camelot up until the point where he doesn’t?
(Also they’ll meet Merida in Camelot and she’ll be the Wicked Hood baby all grown up,)
