I don’t get it, though; do we know he’s turning into the DO? I mean, does he literally mean that or just that he’s going to have to do some bad things to bad people? Belle sometimes doesn’t quite get that – and maybe that’s why he wants to spare her this.

He’s always the DO though. Always. It’s just that magic works differently in SB which is why he didn’t transform. But he may change back in NL, though I doubt it because from one standpoint I think that’s asking a lot of RC.

You mean because he’s still cursed?
We talked about this in another thread earlier today but Rumple has a tendency to think he needs to protect Belle from everything, because of what happened to her in the past and out of fear of losng her. I think for as long as he lives, Rumple will always be surprised that Belle fell in love with him. He will never stop thinking that she and her love will somehow leave him. So he shields her, almost unnecessarily. This might be the case here.
He does think that, but I think maybe with good reason given that Belle doesn’t want him to do anything that smacks of darkness even if he’s doing it to people who clearly intend to harm her…..or him. She’s so good that at times she can not see what is necessary to fight dark forces. That’s a lovely aspect to her, but it’s also a flaw in some respect
I do think actually that he fully believes in Belle’s love, that he stopped questioning it after all she went through in the Outsider – and certainly that she still loved him and fought for him after finding out about Milha.
What do you think about this?
“It’s going to be another challenge to [Belle and Rumple’s] relationship,” they said. “They’re separated, but he left her behind to protect her … from many things.”
I mean, they are separated yet again, so is it a challenge just because they are separated? That’s not really telling their story at all….I could see it being a challenge only if they were trying to get back to each other, but they’re not. Gold thinks he’s going to die…….I really think we need to see them thinking/dreaming about each other
June 13, 2013 at 12:45 am #198176RumplesGirlKeymasterI think Rumple left her behind to protect her from:
NL
PP
The Lost Ones

Watching him die.Yes, I agree……though he would never, ever harm her. I assume you mean protecting her from seeing him do bad things.
So what does this mean about the spell? Does it mean that anyone could have done it and that this idea that he’s left her in charge of SB is really not the case?
June 13, 2013 at 1:19 am #198184SlurpeezParticipantI haven’t seen anyone mention this, but that fact that both Adam and Eddy said they intended to “tame the beast” could be a foreshadowing of Rumple (the beast) becoming a mere man again. Perhaps by going up against Peter Pan, Rumpple’s dark one curse will be undone.

I’m not sure that’s what they meant, but I really do think Pan is the boy the Seer was talking about, not Henry. I would actually love that to be the case, though I really hate the idea of Belle not being the one to break the curse. In any case, if he were to be undone in terms of the curse, there’s no doubt Gold would struggle to be “just a man” – it would be an amazing storyline and it would be a Rumbelle-oriented one because she would see him through this

I also thought this. It’s such an obvious B and the B reference that I think it has to be a hint.

What do you think about this? Would you love to see it? It would almost allow Gold to remake himself without the burden of that curse. Remember what he said in TMD just prior to the phone call? He said that maybe it was just as well that he die so that he’d take the cursed power with him. I suspect though he might be frightened that Gold might also be relieved at being JUST a man.
June 13, 2013 at 2:05 am #198209RumplesGirlKeymasterI think it would be a very interesting conflict to be just a man again. VERY interesting.
