Even if Rumple is no longer the Dark One, I imagine he will still be able to do magic. If Regina and Cora were able to learn how to use magic from him without having his powers, then I don’t think Rumple would suddenly not be able to use magic.
[adrotate group="5"]March 7, 2013 at 10:06 pm #178054rnomadParticipantI posted this some where else, but I really believe Rumple will remain dark until he fully accepts Belle’s love and lays down his life and his magic for her – preparing the way for “true loves kiss”.
March 7, 2013 at 10:08 pm #178055rnomadParticipantAnyone think about what will happen to Rumple if he stops being the dark one? He starts aging… will it be gradual or will it be sudden like defrosting meat? (Sry I hold a science degree, I should explain dead objects that have been maintained, when the process stops their decrepidation is sped up). Maybe they will have to take him to Neverland til they can figure out how to manage his aging process?
Eeek!!! I hope he just returns to where he was before the curse.
But, Neverland is a really interesting idea.March 8, 2013 at 2:52 am #178122qbkitsuneParticipantSorry, I started a new thread (which I finally figured out how to delete). This was posted at 5am my time, and many threads since then had been bumped so I missed it.
Well, even if he doesn’t have his ultimate Dark One magical mojo working, obviously you don’t need to be the dark one to use magic, so I think he will still be handy like that. I doubt he will suddenly start aging. Neither Bae nor Hook have sped up in aging, and they are just as ancient. Likewise, everyone in SB should have rapidly aged 28 years… If rapid aging only happens to one character, then that seems highly illogical (suspension of disbelief for the whole series aside).

Accordiing to the above video I thought the person who would be killed was a good guy not a bad guy 😕
Well, yes, they say one of their own will die…
Actually, it says one of their own will “perish”. Perish doesn’t necessarily = die. IMO, perish means Rumple, (one of their own because he’s part of their family) losing the Dark One part of his persona.
The mention of someone dying is in that graphic in the first post, (which the official Once Twitter tweeted as well BTW), but that just says, “one will die”, not “one of their own will die”. It’s a separate thing IMO.
Cora will stab Rumple & inherit the Dark One powers, Snow will use the candle to save Rumple right before he dies, and she’ll kill Cora, which will also cause Dark One powers, now within her, to no longer exist. Cora tells Regina in the sneak peek that if Rumple dies, the Dark One powers will “just boil off into the air, and there’ll be no new Dark One.” So as long as Snow uses a means other than the dagger, (ie: the candle) to kill Cora the new Dark One, that curse will cease to exist.

What if, and stay with me here, some of the dark ones powers end up in snow? It would explain a dark Snow. She doesn’t get all the magic that comes from the dark one but maybe the mean streak kinda like Rumple had whenever someone threatened bae.

I’d rather see Rumple conquer his darkness than be cured of it.
So would I actually, I’m just throwing out theories. I want him to stay the Dark One for a very long time but to turn it towards good like he said he would back in “A Desperate Soul”
I’m not sure that that would even be possible. The Dark One curse seems like a parasite, that latches on and sucks the good out of your soul, the way a leech would suck blood out of you. Only way to fix a leech bite is to get rid of the leech. Only way to overcome the Dark One’s influence is to have it expelled from your body.
Losing his curse doesn’t automatically make him all pure and innocent again, and doesn’t absolve him of all his problems. It turns him back into a man who needs to find his own inner strength to be good and make up for his mistakes.
