The show has needed a reboot, and maybe it will be horrible but maybe it will recapture what we loved in season 1-3. Couple of things I do know and am happy about.
Is it possible? Yes, of course. But they’ve rebooted the series once before. They hit the giant red reset button (in their words) and it actually didn’t improve the show at all. I’d say it made a right mess of everything we already loved. It’s more than just getting rid of a few characters. This is still A and E and the way they write and think. Getting rid of a few characters doesn’t change those things. So yes, everything is possible, including it all getting better but…probable? Eh. I’m not so sure.

Like maybe you should break it to him because even I would be like podcast is not worth this crap.
Daniel knows. He and I have had a lot of conversations lately. We’re all committed to it.
I’m so sorry. I mean…I can’t even imagine the amount of retcon that will happen next season.

This is a very good point. They’re obviously waiting and watching next seasons’s ratings like all of us.

Ratings are going to be so bad I can’t wait to see Adam and Eddy try to rush towards a finish next season.
Reboots are never ever successful. See Scrubs, see Sleepy Hallow, see Glee, see The OC, they do not work.

But what does ABC consider “successful” though? As the article in the original post says, OUAT might not do well live but apparently they are bringing in bucks through other means, like Netflix. If ABC is lowering their “cancel” threshold then if the show stays steady-ish (say, doesn’t go below a .6) then nothing is certain. Network TV is just in such a bad place right now. I personally can’t see it getting a S8 either but ABC has different parameters for success.

.6? It’s almost there as we speak. It’ll definitely be there and below that next season. This show always drops in ratings and when you don’t have the family unit, the romance, nor the heroine back…what the heck is there to watch for? Nothing.

I think ABC may still use OUAT as a way to market some Disney to the people. Some people are into the show for that alone. There are still a few Disney characters the show might be able to try to market the heck out of. They did it like crazy with Frozen, and tried it again with Aladdin and Jasmine.
I mean, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Moana pops in next season, or Mary Poppins turns out to be a villain. People will watch.
