Why did they bring them back from FL so fast if that was the orginal plan ❓

The story changed a bit. All writing is rewriting. And in the course of plotting S2, A and E decided to go a different direction. It happens. I, for one, am glad. I thought they spent too much time there as it was.

The SB stuff was dumb with David being in charged and the Dr Story etc. but it is over with hope they do better in Season 3

I wouldn’t mind if the went further into Arthurian legend, though I don’t think it can be this season since the focus is so heavily on NL and I don’t want them to take too many toys out of the box.
Agreed, I doubt they’d have room for it in the story right now.
I’ve recently been thinking though about what will happen to MAP once Nealfire leaves FTL, (which we assume he will). Would they stay there, or go back to SB if there was a way, (safe to say we can rule out them going to NL because of actor availability)? For them to want to stay in FTL, I think they’d have to discover more people still living there, because if it’s just the three of them left in the whole world, that’s not much fun.
But say there’s another Safe Haven full of people hiding out somewhere, and this time actual Lancelot is in charge there. Then I could see MAP wanting to stay there and help them rebuild the place. They could wrap that up early in S3, with Nealfire saying goodbye and leaving MAP with Lancelot and whoever else is there. Then one day in a future season we could see the SBers finally go back to FTL, meet up with Lancelot again, and then we could explore his character more, by delving into Arthurian legend flashbacks.
June 11, 2013 at 4:46 pm #197902RumplesGirlKeymasterI’m one of the few people who never got on the “Lancelot is still alive” bandwagon. I actually wasn’t all that interested in him. He was a perfectly fine knight/guy, but I’d be much more interested in seeing Arthur and Merlin. I think it’s very likely that he is dead and we’ll only see Lancelot in flashbacks if get into Arthurian legend.

I think the Lancelot isn’t dead thing comes from the official podcast where they heavily implied that we shouldn’t trust Cora and we never actually saw what happened to Lancelot, along with the fact that they mentioned so many things in describing him that ended up being loose threads. I’d like to see him again eventually. He’s got important history with Snow & Charming and it would be nice to see more of his friendship with Snow, though I’d also like to see more Arthurian legend in general. Merlin would be amazing. Hopefully someday he can show up for something at least to tie up those loose ends and connect some dots.

June 11, 2013 at 7:17 pm #197912RumplesGirlKeymasterI wonder if Lancelot really being alive is one of the stories that got changed, though. It was pretty early on in the season. He could have really been alive and come back to help Snow and Emma, but they decided to get them out of FTL in nine episodes and thus put Lancelot on the back burner.

That’s definitely a possibility. I could have sworn we heard something ages ago about him possibly coming to SB and interacting with Henry and then nothing happened. It’s possible he’s alive out there somewhere though and if they do delve into Arthurian legend at some point, we may see him again. Since they mentioned it in the official podcast and gave people hope the character was still alive I’d like to think that maybe his storyline was just backburnered for now and maybe MAP or someone down the line will discover the real one in the EF someday and he can meet up with everyone. If he is alive out there I would like for Snow to find that out someday. After all, she and everyone else owes him a lot – without him Emma would never have been born to save them all. I really loved their friendship.

June 11, 2013 at 11:06 pm #197946JosephineParticipantI, for one, am glad that they cut the FTL trip for Snow and Emma short. It seems to have been a catalyst for driving away some fans. I think they should have been back in FTL by the third episode. I just didn’t like that plot. I was much more interested in what was happening in Storybrooke than anything that was going on in the Enchanted Forest.
People think Lancelot is alive because Eddy or Adam specifically said not to believe Cora. They more or less came out and said that he’s still alive. I have mixed feelings about visiting Arthurian legend. I think they could do great things with Merlin, but the romance of the legend isn’t the stuff of True Love. Guinevere’s and Lancelot’s affair and Lancelot’s subsequent banishment. It’s just a situation where nobody has a happy ending. Although, maybe they could switch it up and do a story about adultery and forgiveness, unlike the glossing over they did with Cursed Snow and David.

June 11, 2013 at 11:17 pm #197948RumplesGirlKeymasterI agree. Lancelot and Guinevere’s affair was strongly hinted at in Lady of the Lake so we know A and E will keep with that tradition, but I’m not excited about that aspect of Arthurian legend. I want Merlin. And I want him to be a old man in a blue hat with an owl.
